Any deals left for a physical copy of God of War in the sub $50 range?  Any guesses on how long it will take to drop to $30-ish price range?

My brain is telling me to hold off for the first solid discount, but my heart wants to play the game so badly!  CAG dilemma

I think GCU is the lowest you’ll get right now. And with how the scores are, it’s a toss up to tell how long it’s going to be before it’s sub $30. Possibly around the launch of COD or RDR2.

I still have 8 bucks left from that card though. Anything on sale this week that I need to have? I’m kinda eyeballing Darksiders. Never played either of them.

Full Throttle, although I wouldn't be surprised if it hits PS+ eventually like Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle did.
 
PSA: There is a custom audio profile for God of War on the Sony Headset app. Not sure if this is common knowledge, but figured I'd toss it out there just in case.

Same. I think it's mostly gimmick. Although I also can't really hear much difference between good audio equipment and high end audio equipment, so maybe i'm just a backwards hillbilly.

I feel you, man. My 'cheapy' senses told me to wait for the Black Friday deals. Might have been able to nab it for 25-30 bucks after a long 7 month wait. But after seeing all the hype, praise and "GOTY" predictions in between, I finally folded when I noticed Newegg eBay had them in stock yesterday for $48. Surprised that I just received it today! Been a GOW fan since PS2 so I'm jumping in right now.

They shouldn't even allow an option like that. Maybe, and I mean maybe, let people be able to make a favorites list of 5 or so people and mass invite them, but Mass inviting your entire friends list is insane. I've got like 500 friends from various games, and don't remember most of them, so I guess I'll just delete the offenders. It would be nice if you could block notifications from specific games, but I guess that would be a lot of extra work on Sony's side for rare benefit.

You’re a very mean person. I literally jumped onto PSN to check about a new or remastered Wild Arms....You meant Wild Guns Reloaded, huh?
 
Ah, Wild Arms, another RPG I bought, started and never finished.

I should be glad there's no remake or I would stupidly buy it again because this time I'll play it.

It's pretty great. I played a decent chunk today (is it still today?) and it's a nice blend of challenge and exploration without leaning too heavily on either. I'm finally at a point where the map has expanded and I'm a little overwhelmed by all the free rein and massive upgrade system. Certainly if I could describe the game in one word, it would be "polished." I can't believe PS4 can look this good. And I'm not even running on a Pro.

It's funny because I can remember playing God of War 3 when it first came out and thinking that it couldn't get much better than that. And that was intended to be the FINAL installment in the series and I was really satisfied for what it was at the time. I guess they really had to reinvent the character in order to resurrect him for another adventure.

I like the new, restrained Dad of War role and it's helpful having a wingman around ("behind you!") to let you know what's up. I think I'm getting into Kratos's headspace too because I'm starting to respond to some of Atreus's (sometimes annoying) comments out loud in his characteristic growl.

Atreus: Hey, I think there's a chest over there!

Me: You think or you know?

Atreus: I'm trying!

Me: Try harder.

It's a lot different from the other games in the series, but somehow still feels like an instant classic. Not so much a game changer as just a really solid entry in a beloved franchise. I hardly ever buy big AAA games Day 1 but this was a rare exception and I don't regret it.

Sorry to all the people that I've ever made fun of for saying their PS4 Pro was loud. I thought they were crazy till now.

GoW is making my PS4 Pro sound like a damn airplane. It's so loud my wife keeps asking me if it's going to blow up. It's not gonna blow up right?

Headed to buy a can of that spray air stuff to clean out the fan. That should help right? Seems pretty easy to do from what I saw on YouTube.

Even though I never got into the previous GoW games, I was getting sucked in by the hype the past couple weeks. I'm super glad redbox sent out a free rental code this past week. Reserved a copy a little after midnight Thursday and spent quite a bit of Friday and Saturday playing it.

Probably got at least 1/3 through it and loving it, but at the same time, I've had enough for right now. It's kinda weird playing games in spurts like this, but I have a hard time justifying buying a new game when it's available at redbox, considering there's so few games available at redbox and redbox hands out free rentals all the time.

Unless you don't dust around your home every week and haven't had the ps4 pro since launch there's no point in buying that air can spray.Some pros fans crank up when playing heavy duty graphical games like HZD or in your case GoW.

Well I basically threw away the $15 I spent on the air cans. It was dusty inside but not insane. I recently had some remodeling done on the interior of my house and it was super dusty.

Afraid so,you can also use the suction part of your vacuum the long stick that comes with it and suck up most of the dust that accumulated on the fan.

Neogames on Ebay has a 12-month subscription for $51.99. They send the codes via e-mail within a few hours. Not the greatest deal but I got one from them the other day since I didn't keep track of when mine expired and missed some better sales.

Brilliant! Thanks for this. I made a US account even though I live in New Zealand simply because I knew it'd be easier to find better deals on PS Plus/Credit. It's worked out pretty well for me so far. FYI, a year of PS Plus is $90 in NZD ($65ish converted to USD). So it's roughly the same price, there's just never any discounts here.

 
A GOOD ps+ price is 40$ for 12 months. Kinda rare but they pop up once or twice a year. So keep an eye out for something like that.

I bought my Pro in December and it sounds like a jet when playing GoW. Completely normal as others have stated. It is just the console expelling all the heat since the game is lit af.

There was a remake. Back on the ps2 called alter code f. Adds 2 playable characters who were npc's in the original and uses wild arms 3's engine if I remember right. I never bothered to pick it up since it's pretty expensive on amazon and ebay at least the last time I looked.

I see where you’re coming from, I personally I think it’s really important we support these types of single player games day one, or we run the risk of not seeing many of them in the future.
 
I haven't picked up God of War either.  Not because I don't want it, but because I'm not ready to play it.  Even if I wasn't in the middle of a different game, I only ever played the first God of War on the PS2.  I still have the remasters of the first four games, and Ascension, to play on the PS3 and GoW 3 on PS4 to play.  I'm sure by the time I get to playing the new one, it'll be in the bargain bin.

I'll be showing my support for single-player games by not buying Black Ops 4.

 
I haven't bought the new God of War, but I'm still firmly seated upon the hype train because it looks amazing. I'll have it at some point (hopefully soon) though.

Unfortunately it's not possible for me to buy every single game I want Day Uno, but there are exceptions I'll make for certain franchises I love (Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, a few others). It's easier to pass on series I haven't played before like Far Cry 5 (which looks great, but I can wait awhile on) or Yakuza 6 (have yet to play 0-5). But playing a AAA title like this is making me want to finally open my copies of Assassin's Creed Origins and Shadow of War which I still haven't touched since Black Friday. Not enough time in the world...

I definitely support the single-player experience, though. We loners gotta look out for ourselves. (Remember a couple months ago when everybody was creaming their jorts for Monster Hunter World? ;))

I didn't realize it this whole time because I was playing with headphones, but...my Slim melted down completely to black obsidian.

So I used it to craft an upgrade for my Leviathan Axe.

Hmm. Wonder if I should wait for The Last Guardian and Shadow of the Colossus... tempted to get them it now because of the price drop... but don't know if I'd play them before they were discounted even further during a sale. The classic CAG dilemma  :whistle2:k

Likewise, I ignored the $40 deal this past BF because I didn't realize that my PS+ subscription is going to expire this summer for the first time since I joined 7 years ago.

FYI, you could probably skip Ascension since it's almost unanimously the worst and most unnecessary title in the GoW series.
