Beyond Eyes is strictly trophy hunting fodder, only get it if you want the easy plat.
De Blob hasn't aged well in my opinion. Enjoyed several years ago on the Wii but fired it up recently for PS4 and quickly lost interest. Will probably get back to it at some point.
Bound by Flame is a super generic and forgettable game. Played some several years ago and nothing stood out gameplay or story wise. It isn't bad, but very meh. Both this one and de Blob are easy passes to anyone with much of a backlog.
This is all great intel. Honestly, I'm relooking my list and I could probably give all of them a skip. I don't know how many times I've passed on Bound by Flame, Guns Gore & Cannoli, Lords of the Fallen, Outcast, Valley, et al, but I should probably eliminate them completely by now. So far, I'm thinking Beyond Eyes, Detention, North (another cheap title), Silence, Tearaway and Type Rider might be my picks. Thanks to you guys, Bound by Flame, de Blob, Doki-Doki Universe and Lords of the Fallen are off my list for good.

One I keep going back and forth on is Deadly Tower of Monsters. It seems like such a cool concept, but I don't know if it's my kind of game. Small Radios Big Televisions is another one I never considered before, but it seems weird.

So I got a bunch of games in the "maybe" column...wondering if anyone can dissuade or make an argument for the following:

Beyond Eyes

de Blob

Doki-Doki Universe

Guns, Gore and Cannoli

Small Radios Big Televisions
Tearaway Unfolded

Type:Rider

Valley
I've played through all of these and Tearaway Unfolded is the standout. de Blob and Type:Rider are both fun games. Beyond Eyes, Doki Doki Universe, Guns, Gore and Cannoli, and Small Radios Big Televisions are all ok but nothing special. Valley I strongly disliked and quit after a couple hours.

Why would you wear hiking boots for daily wardrobe?
Shattered my heel, had osteomyelitis which resulted in removal of some of the bone in the heel. Spent 6 weeks in the hospital and was super close to having the foot amputated...

Was told by the pediatrist I should never wear anything less than hiking boots, preferable 6" boots. Walking barefoot hurts like Hell, I have inserts for my right foot to make it the same size as my left. I also have zero feeling in my right heel due to all of the nerves being cut. Step on a sharp object? I don't feel it I just see the blood...

I roll that ankle easily, I don't own anything less than a mid size hiking boot. If I don't want to wear a hiking boot, I have to wear a brace that goes almost up to my knee so I can walk without rolling my ankle.

It's not fashion... some people have actual reasons.

Best. Answer. EVER! Take care dude.

I would 1000000000000% take a CAG's opinion over metacritic, or any paid advertisement and collusion the game industry "journalists" have been very guilty of.

Multiple different reviewers, saying the exact same thing... published at the same time.... and dissent/disagreement by "gamers" were collectively attacked...

Look at the GW2 issue this week... the same players DEFENDING a dev that got fired for attacking a major youtuber over a SLIGHT DISAGREEMENT. (He flat out agreed with her comments, just had a minor disagreement on ONE thing... so she attacked him and anyone else that disagreed with her) This same dev cheered the death of Total Biscuit. The game industry "journalists" are collectively attacking the GW2 players and Arenanet for not bowing down and agreeing with the fired dev.

You can find her tweets and the entire attack out there, do not read about it on the game review sites until you actually see what happened first.... the "Journalists" completely gloss over 99% of what she said.

Edit: Now i have never heard of this guy before this week... don't endorse or anything. I'm just putting it here because he actually shows the now deleted tweets and the entire story on why she got fired...

It was in my recommended vids one day due to the GW2 part, had to click it to see what it was about.. had not heard it. (I actually re installed GW2 last week and was watching GW2 content cause i was tempted to go back for a bit, see what has changed)

Putting it in a spoiler so click if you actually want to watch the vids.

Not wanting to start a fight... but this is a perfect example why i'd take a CAG's view of a game over someone paid.

The actual story, including all the tweets and such.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA9xzTI4Zyk

Follow up video that shows the "journalists" defending her firing and blaming players and ArenaNet instead.

well i'm a CAG and i think you are crazy, that's my opinion not metacritic so that counts for something right?

I thought lords of the fallen was.... ok? I got the plat. It felt like a arcade-y version of Dark Souls. That is, it's clearly trying to be dark souls but the combat is faster and less precise, although still fun. If you don't go in with expectations of a AAA game, I think it was quite fun. Definitely not worth 60 bucks but it was worth the $10 or $15 I paid. While the plot was goofy I still remember some of the sections and bosses fondly. plat was relatively easy, though I highly recommend Googling for the glitch to beat the last boss on the hardest level.

Comparing two totally unrelated things.

Games and a person.

So no, your "opinion" shows blatant bias. My point stands.

Lords of the fallen was a free games with gold title right? I know I have it on xbox, just don't exactly remember why I bought it.. had to be free lol.

The Unknown City: Horror Begins Now Episode 1

Just curious if anyone else has tried out this masterpiece yet?

See that's an actual reason to. Ever tried loggers for the heel and ankle support? And speaking of 6"; any opinion on Timberland Pitboss soft toe if you've ever tried it? I need new boots since my Rockports have fallen in quality to the point I'd need to retread them annually. Want them for walking and standing without going overboard on work boots. Just seems to me to get fullgrain leather that will stand up, you kinda have to look at work boots.

So people don't get too upset.....

I broke down and bought a pair of Keen hiking boots about 5 years ago, my feet used to get torn up with as much walking as i used to do at work (12-14 miles every day.. My new route is like 80% business so it's about 3-4 total miles most days.)

Night and day difference. So I stick to Keen as much as I can. The wide toe box is what I need, and normal wide shoes with my ankle issue.. would make the heels move around.

Had a pair of timberlands before, they were ok but as with most shoes, they were either too tight or too loose. Could never find a "just right" size/width combo. Well.. was able to get a wide left and a normal right once :whistle2:$ (Distracted the clerk at the checkout) That worked out pretty good, but wasn't ideal. Really broke down and bought a pair of Keen Milwaukee work boots about 3+ years ago and wear them in winter and sometimes when I go for a little hike.

Took a little time to break in... but the most comfortable "work" boots i have ever tried. And they do pretty damn good on ice/snow. They have held up great but they are almost to the point where i need to resole them now.

Anyway... If anyone has footwear issues, don't be afraid to buy and *try* more expensive ones.. It could be Keen, Merrell, Salomon, new balance, whatever. you never know how bad your feet really are until you find that perfect fit... and trust me the older you get, the more your body tries to tell you something is not right. My feet issues were effecting my knees, hips, and back.. was getting really bad. Now while not perfect, i'm much better.

Gotcha. I'm trying to balance a casual boot with something sturdy so I'll check some reviews.

I found the boots discussion a good read but thank you for the spoiler box anyway.

Sale wise the only thing I got was ff4 psp since I only played the original snes version on the wii.

So I got a bunch of games in the "maybe" column...wondering if anyone can dissuade or make an argument for the following:

Drakengard 3 (PS3)
This game has, to me, the most unlikable "protagonist" ever. Didn't manage to get very far into the game due to how abrasive she was. I kept hoping the dragon would devour her and just be done with it.

Can anyone recommend anything 4.99 and lower?

I grabbed the Marvel Ultimate Alliance bundle, how to survive 2, and catastrophe for the wife with a 25 dollar psn card I picked up today.

Until Dawn and the 2 darksiders games have my eye but I dunno anything about them honestly.

I'm looking at Rogue Galaxy (never played it on PS2).

Until Dawn is awesome, and the Darksiders games are pretty great.

I YouTube'd the majority of the game because of its relation to Nier, and it didn't seem too good. The dialogue was vury bad. The overall story might be okay, particular endgame stuff, but outside of that it's dick jokes for days. For obvious reasons, can't comment on the gameplay too much, but it seemed okay.

rogue galaxy is ok. but it has awful sidequests, equipment is not distributed evenly for party members at all, factory is tedious garbage, shield break gun runs out too quick when it is required for common mobs and you cannot damage enemies without it, placement and camera during battles is bad. Biggest thing was the final boss battles sinxce you are required to use all party members. Oh and enemies knockig you off platforms or ito the water. As in the water you are locked to the swim animation and cannot attack or defend yourself.

Yeah Tearaway was a lot of fun and cute little game.

Any game to stay away from in the below list? TIA.

Red Faction 1&2
Sine Mora Ex

Still looking for some input on White Noise 2. Saw it was dirt cheap but I wanted to see if it is worth a buy?
It's a lot like Dead By Daylight, only the monster is more op. No clue how many people still play online on PS4, but not many people still play on Steam. It's well done, there's just no single player so you could be stuck with a dead game.

Well, time to stir up some more shit with this question. I have looked into it, but most of what I hear is that the ports are divisive. So, this is more a question on taste for people. What Final Fantasy games are worth getting on Vita?

I have 7, just haven't played it yet. I know 6 is regarded as the best (yay, train suplexing!) but I heard it also runs a bit weird/bad. Is it still worth picking up? I currently have my eye on that and 9. I'm also considering tactics, but I don't know if it or Tactics Ogre is easier to get into.

People compare FF6 to the GBA version, which has more dungeons, more espers, a better translation, and a lighter color palette. But there's nothing wrong with the way FF6 PS1 Classic runs, and if you don't want to emulate the game then there's no reason not to get it. It's still the best FF game, with a phenomenal story and great characters. The main gripe with the PS1 version is that discs are slower to load than cartridges, so you get simulated sloading. But it only takes like 4 seconds tops, and I use the mini breaks to look away and stretch my hands. And it also has extras over the original, like 8 additional minutes of FMV's and the ability to dash. They also have a mobile remake of the game, but it looks like absolute shit. The artwork is trash and touch controls take up half of the screen. They ported the shit mobile version to Steam instead of the other versions, for some stupid reason.

There's no definitive version of FF9, it's the same game being ported on all systems. I liked the characters, loved the game mechanics, side missions and mini-games, and thought the story was good. Ending was very disappointing to me.

For the game contents, FF6. But I'd choose to buy FF9 on PSN over FF6, then I'd emulate FF6 Advance on PC just so I could play the extras.

That helps a lot, thank you! I'll have to give 9 a try then. Luckily there's still another week so I can really comb through the vita game selection some more.

As far as Ghost Recon Wildlands, would it be worth it to pick up the Gold Edition? I don't want to end up kicking myself for picking the wrong version.

Kinda surprised Darksiders 3 is so soon, seemed really far away based on the original trailers/gameplay shown for it. Probably not a day one purchase for me but I do look forward to it eventually.

Can someone clarify the Prey Gold edition content for me?  Is it basically just getting $5 off of the Moonbase DLC?  Also, how is the Moonbase DLC?

From what I can see:

Prey - $14.99 - 50% Off - The game

Prey: Digital Deluxe Edition - $29.99 - 25% Off - The game + Mooncrash

Prey - Mooncrash - $19.99

The differing discounts on the game and bundle makes the discount for the DLC not as much as it would see. With the bundle, you're essentially buying the base game at full price and getting Mooncrash for free or getting $5 off of buying them separately during the current sale, which still seems like a decent discount for DLC that just launched about a month ago.

Alienation is fantastic. Definitely pick that up.

Sine Mora is a really good shmup with time warp abilities. Trophies are extremely extremely hard if you care, but the game is great

The first Darksiders is really good, sort of a third-person Zelda. II had way way too much walking.

Rogue Galaxy is a really solid jrpg with a cool plot, cool environment, cool characters, cool upgrade system... But then they threw in about 30 other systems like bug collecting, upgrade Factory, badges for killing certain number of creatures, extremely rare creatures that require running in circles in a very specific area to hopefully spawn them... Basically, you want to play the game because it's one of the best jrpgs ever, but you will burn out before you finish. I have literally tried to play the game 5 different times, and just keep burning out. That's both a Testament to how much I love it and how much I hate it.

fairy fencer wise they had the enhanced port bundled with the original on either humble bundle or bundle stars or whatever for like 3$ a few weeks ago. I would see if that's still there.

nero wise I think there were a couple of posters saying to stay away from that game a few pages back.

Rogue galaxy wise it's really long 70 hours just for the main story, optional planet and hunts. I didn't even do the secret dungeon or the bug tournament thing.

for the person looking at ff9 from what I recall the ps4 and pc versions are updated ports with turbo mode and other bells and whistles.

Oh and ff/chrono trigger ps1 wise if you do go with the psn version and play it on a pstv you can use the analog sticks despite some of them not having that support feature on all the other versions to my knowledge like ff7. I found this out by complete luck when I played chrono trigger last year and tested both ff7 and chrono trigger on ps3 to confirm they didn't provide an update to those versions.

Dishonored is fantastic if you like stealth games. It also has a fantasy/steampunk vibe to it.
Dishonored is great, but referring to it as a stealth game might turn some people off. I am not a big fan of stealth but still enjoyed it because it has plenty of non-stealth options when you screw up, etc. and it's also fairly forgiving. I'm pretty sure you could probably brute force your way through the whole game (without any stealth) if you wanted to (at least on the more reasonable difficulties), but you wouldn't want to since the "stealth" is part of the fun.

Sorry for the small rant, but when I hear "stealth" game, it makes me think of old Splinter Cell stuff where breaking stealth was instant fail and I found that completely miserable.

I get what you're saying but it's hard not to describe Dishonored as a stealth game with alternate options, because it's very much what it feels like. It's sort of a modern stealth game where you have lots of options just like, say, Hitman. You have a Target and lots of ways to kill them. If you're going to go for the plat you probably have a traditional stealth no kill run and a traditional kill run.

Dishonored really shines in its skill set, if you watch YouTube videos of experts play they seriously bring genius creativity to their kills.

It's not wrong to call it a stealth game though because that's what it is. You're supposed to be an assassin.

However, I get what you're trying to say. Stealth is only the recommended approach/playstyle. There should definitely be another word to describe it, but stealth is definitely one of the words.

Except that pretty much all stealth games these days have other options if you're bad or not interested in being stealthy (Hitman, MGSV, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Assassin's Creed, etc.), so it shouldn't be an issue to stick to that genre since it's evolved a lot from what Splinter Cell was back in the day.

If you like shmups, Steredenn is great, and it has an awesome soundtrack. But make sure you get the binary stars version. It’s the most up to date version and has better balancing and different ships to unlock.
