Albedo was a really easy plat (like two hours maybe three) but in the end that game was torture and so bad. In all fairness I think it was made by one person so props to them if it was a one man job.

Beyond eyes has no platinum by the way.

Glad I could finally get Rez to play in VR. Was nearly about to buy it full price.
Thanks for clarifying that. I'm not sure where I got that idea...

On that note, I really have to stop blindly trusting people on the internet and verify things for myself.
Well, apologies. What the hell game was I thinking of?
Edit: I had "Planet of the" and "Beyond" eyes games mixed up. Super sorry about that.

More proof, not allowed to have any opinion if it's not accepted/approved by the masses.

So I got all of the Fallout 4 DLC for free from this but my brother said it's not showing up free for him. Anyone else have luck getting it for free too?
Did you buy the Season Pass or the Game of the Year edition? When you buy Season Passes, they don't automatically give you the DLC, they just mark the DLC as free in the store and expect you to "purchase" them separately.

[quote name="nitrosmob" post="14023596" timestamp="1531354764"]It went to $4.99 once last year. psprices is your friend.[/quote

Thanks, I was looking for a site to track prices.

If you have the patience for it to get a real hang of the controls, it seems pretty cool. For me, I was getting nowhere fast.
This exactly. Ive tried it twice. First time i just got sick of trying to master it. Second time, i put more time into it and finally started pulling off the drifts they were asking for.

Its no joke. Its not drift around like nfs and have fun, its like sim level exact but without shifting.... hard to explain.

I was going through the PSN store new releases and saw that they are making a Hotel Transylvania 3 game which is weird since they don't release a lot of movie games anymore. I click on the trailer and it seems to be a Pikmin/Overlord style game so now I have to wait to see if any reviews pop up because I love the Pikmin series and Overlord so if it's even halfway decent I'll buy it even though I have zero interest in the Hotel Transylvania franchise.
Saw an ad for this game at Redbox. Might be a good idea to give it a rental. Movie games can be hit or miss.

Sounds like something I may not do too well with when playing. I checked out a video on YT for giggles and it looked like the person playing was having a hard time.

I wanted to hear from CAGs who played it to get a better understanding of what I might be getting into. I'll go ahead and pass.

you can have your own opinion, nobody is saying you can't we all have our own taste and views on things

but some opinions just make you think people are a little off or they are just trying to be different like saying OJ is innocent, 400 lb people are hot, professional bikini models are ugly, ice cream tastes like shit, and the Last of Us sucks

Sometimes opinions are just how people feel and not a way of signalling to others that you're cool or interesting. And sometimes people are different and don't like the same things that most people do.

It's crazy, I know.

I thought the Witcher 3 was unremarkable.

And sometimes they are. If you don't think there are some people who hate on popular things because they think it makes them look cool, I got a bridge to sell you.

And you are flat out placing everyone that does not agree with you, into that group.

You are failing to see the point he just made.

When someone says they do not like whatever game, and its a popular game.... try thinking to yourself “ok, thats your opinion” and leave it at that. No need to argue with the person and *tell* them they are just trying to be “cool”.

Someone can easily say that *you* are trying to be cool by making sure everyone knows that you agree with the popular opinion as well... cuts both ways.

See what happens when you have a two week sale Sony?... lol

I feel exactly the same way when I read his post. I guess in his world people can't dislike things without having some sort of agenda. Which is really weird and stinks of paranoia.

I don't like a lot of games people on here love and they don't like things that I like. It's all good, and I don't make some over arching judgement about them.

I personally couldn’t stand the last of us at first. I vaguely remember having difficulty with it and becoming frustrated with the encounters and giving up. Then after some time I picked it up again and beat it. Loving every minute. I even played and enjoyed the dlc. I really would like to replay the remastered edition but it’s hard to do for an entirely different reason- I just can’t bring myself to replay games no matter how good. The backlog is too large and there are so many other great games I want to play I just can’t comfortably stop and play something a second time through.

I personally couldn’t stand the last of us at first. I vaguely remember having difficulty with it and becoming frustrated with the encounters and giving up. I'm sure I would like it if I stuck with it for longer, but why? I have so many games to play, plus family and work.

My lifestyle just doesn't give me the luxury to deal with gameplay that I don't find fun. If a game isn't fun for me I move to another game.

Some people enjoy that and that's fine.

And it's not just hard gameplay because I love the souls games and bloodborne. The Last of Us or uncharted games aren't fun for me.

I had the exact same experience as you the first time around. This year I bought and played the remaster. I also have not replayed a game in over 10 years due to work, family, etc. but I promised myself in the post Christmas drought of new things I would do it for the Last of Us.

Not only did it prove to be just as awesome the second time around- I also got weirdly frustrated again at the beginning. The stealth can be a bit hard to get used to and I got smoked by clickers left and right and wondered if I wasn't doing something wrong, but remembered I had this problem the first time around. I pushed through and really left feeling like this is the peak of gaming as I have experienced it and bought my brother a copy of the game because he hates stealth based games and refuses to shell out money on it.

Bloodbourne is a game everyone praises and I don’t see the connection. I loved Nioh, played a bit of Dark Souls 3 and enjoyed t but it’s very difficult and I’m currently stuck at one spot, then jumped at Bloodbourne when it was free with PS Plus to finally see what the excitement was about and I think it’s harder than Dark Souls (everyone says it’s easier), more difficult to control (everyone says it’s faster and easier). I don’t know maybe I’m just not “getting it” or investing enough time but I fail to see the allure.

Yeah it's different to everyone. Souls is still harder to me and I'm stuck in the beginning of Nioh. Didn't have any issues with Bloodborne. Really interesting to see how difficult can be so subjective.

That flying spider lady is breaking my soul in Nioh.

Haha what’s funny is my brother bought the game first in the white PS3 super slim bundle and I would have completely brushed it under the carpet if I hadn’t gone to visit him and watched as he played. My brother has never been as much of a gamer or as passionate about games so to see him literally becoming addicted to this game opened my eyes. I knew there had to be “something” there but when I played it myself I just felt like I had to be missing something. I’m glad I stuck with it. I’m a little hard-headed with giving up and it’s usually beneficial. Like when we were young and played Resident Evil 2 for the first time we couldn’t get past the beginning with the fires in the street and zombies attacking us with limited handgun ammunition. My brother immediately disregarded the game but I knew I had to stick with it because Resident Evil is such a renowned series even back then. Well thankfully I did because it is now one of our favorite series of all time (RE6 and garbage sequels have since tainted that well big time lol)

I did rather well in Nioh of course I give most of the credit to the Torii gate and offering ochoko cups to invoke visitors for help. I beat the game and got all the little green Kodamas. I’m halfway through DLC 1 and had to take a break because I’d spent months with just that game and needed to breath lol. I recommend not dealing with the frustration and just get help from others. If you’d like you can add me and I’ll drop in some time and step on the spider for you but know the game becomes so much more difficult. Make sure you’re preparing for that because there will be times when you can’t seek help and have to face a giant enemy alone (I now HATE toads....)

Appreciate all the feedback on Rogue Galaxy, it became a pass for me.

At this point I kind of feel like I am looking for an excuse to buy something. Like, oh I've maybe heard of that game and the price is cheap. Should I just buy it?

Then I scroll through all the unplayed games in my library and no, I shouldn't buy it. Because I'm just gonna spend my time on Hearthstone/Smite/Fortnite anyways.
Yeah the main reason I picked it up was its digital price was significantly cheaper than it is used on ps2 at the time. My main rule for buying games at the time was anything that looks decent that's under 20$ with digital being under 10$. And thus a backlog was born... I am doing better now since I am trying to only buy games I will play the same month as I buy them (give or take shipping.) Like The only game I bought from the sale was ff4 complete psp since i have never played the gba version or the after years and such so I'm looking forward to all the little differences there will be.

Sometimes opinions are just how people feel and not a way of signalling to others that you're cool or interesting. And sometimes people are different and don't like the same things that most people do.

It's crazy, I know.

I thought the Witcher 3 was unremarkable.
There's a significant difference between thinking The Witcher was unremarkable and shouting it sucks from rooftops every single time it happens to come up in conversation.

I tend to post reviews on here fairly often. I also happen to dislike several popular franchises, just like most people do. And while I'm vocal about the games I like, I don't usually hop in conversations about popular games that i dislike. What's the point? Why Bring the conversation down?

I play the Souls games wrong. I like to turtle with a big shield and big weapon, rarely parry and never backstab. I still love all of them.

That made bloodborne very hard for me. It probably took me 30 tries to get through the first mob. But those 30 tries really taught me how to play, and forced me to learn how to play blood-borne rather than simply do what I always do. Bloodborne really rewards offensive maneuvers. And once it does click, you realize that mob was actually quite simple to beat, even though it feels almost unfair and invincible at first.

Souls games have always tried to do that, presenting a challenge at the beginning to Ensure players learn to play the game. I have always thought these challenges were a good idea, although they will always cause frustration for some. But it's better than training yourself to play wrong and then hitting a wall much later.

Ah bloodborne. My only plat. I love that game so much. In a world without backlogs I would be playing it still.

After replaying through DS remaster I can say with certainty it is far easier and more forgiving than Bloodborne. Much easier to dodge with a good poise build and levels are far less narrow and littered with environmental objects to get stuck on. Riposting is optional in DS whereas I constantly felt like I was misusing the controls in Bloodborne by not using the gun, a mechanic I simply didn't take the time to learn because it seemed too bothersome. I've played every souls game and the demo for Nioh (didn't grab me) and I'm not a fan of Bloodborne. The atmosphere and enemy design is great, I love that aspect, but the controls just infuriated me. It's telling when each time I try to get into Bloodborne again, I just prefer to play a Souls game.

I tried Bloodborne a week or two ago and I really shouldn't have. I was frustrated with personal things when I started the game and so when I died I got even more frustrated.

However I love the art style of the game and I'm mad at myself that I rage quit it that day. I see the potential of it, but unless I can be more patient about it I don't know if it's exactly a game for me.

On the other hand, I was too chicken to try The Last of Us for a long time because "horror" games aren't really my style. But once I jumped in and realized clickers aren't so scary, it was easy peasy and I love that game and can't wait for the sequel.

Oh horror games, they're ruined for me for the fact nothing phases me. GF always tries to get me to play things like Outlast and Amnesia, hoping to sp00k me but I end up getting bored just trying to solve puzzles while running circles around the monster chasing me. Usually ends up with me either outrunning it, or a you died screen lol.

I don't necessarily get "scared" easily but I don't enjoy it when games rely on trying to startle me by using jump scares. On the plus side though, I don't even feel like I'm missing out by passing on games that do that.

Speaking of Bloodborne and Souls style games, I tried Lords of the Fallen last night even after a friend warned me it wasn't good.

I got a few bosses in and decided it wasn't for me. The handful of times I died at the beginning of Bloodborne while I was frustrated were more fun than the little bit of Lords of the Fallen I played.

So yeah I redboxed it and it's exactly a Pikmin clone from having different types of imps (the first ones you encounter are brawlers, the second can dig through dirt walls), picking up items and bringing them back to your portal, even down to the day/night cycle where your day ends and you start over the next day. I played for an hour or so and I'm enjoying it. It's not up to Pikmin levels but it's not like they make tons of those games.

For a while I hadn't been replaying anything for similar reasons (too much to play). Honestly sometimes having too much to play got in the way of my desire to play anything. I've been making some changes over the last few months though and started digging through system libraries... demos of games I own.. and am quickly narrowing my backlog (physical) library down. I look forward to the day (probably next year .. or even 2020 at the rate I'm going) where my library is simply games I love to replay and my backlog is maybe having bought two new release physical games because I really want to play both of them and the prime discount was enough to get them both at launch. Raising my standards up so I'm only playing games I find exceptional (and not just interesting or considered great) has helped me start dumping some of the less qualified candidates for my gaming time. For the most part I'm going to ignore my digital library and I've already cut back to be super selective about what I buy there. I'll dig into that when I'm bored some year.

So .... I just got an email from Playstation to save 25% off God of War Standard or Digital Deluxe Editions on PlayStation™Store. Code is good till 7/19, it says.

Just got one too.

This is not the kind of discount code I wanted this week, Sony.
(ㆀ˘・з・˘)
I haven't gotten the code you speak of (though I'm sure I will later). I'll reserve my disappointment of not getting a 20% off code this week until some time tomorrow. Then I will pony up and buy the 11 games I want to add to my backlog.

I’m kind of on the same wavelength of you. I don’t add anything to the backlog anymore on a whim it’s only games I have a strong interest in. I used to snatch up every game on sale that anyone said anything nice about to broaden my gaming horizons but I’ve realized how foolish that was and it got to the point where I’d have a physical shelf and digital shelf of games staring at me that I maybe played a few hours into and then reaiized I have no desire to ever complete these so I traded them all (Shadow of the Collossus Remake being a big one) and I’m happier for it. I still buy games on sale even some I know I won’t get to right away but I will get to them soon because they’re either old favorites re-released or remastered or it’s a game I’m very interested in but focusing on another game at the moment to complete.

This is how it works for me:

  • Don't care about the game(s) on sale.
  • See everybody else get excited about the game(s) on sale.
  • Forget buying the game(s) on sale.
  • Feel extremely bad for missing the sale.
  • Buy the game next time it is on sale.
If the said game never goes on sale again (soon) and the remorse is high, buy which ever game is the cheapest (and belonging to the genre as the one I missed).

[*]Start wondering why the fuck I even bought the game, when I didn't care for it the first time around.
[*]Rinse & repeat.

Well, I finished Bloodborne on NG+ but hit the wall in the Chalice Dungeons. In Dark Souls, the Four Kings stopped me before I could even finish NG+. The thing about Bloodborne, like affa said, is that you can't play it like DS if you are used to running a sword and board character. I normally do just that so Bloodborne took a bit of adjusting to but once I did, I found it extremely enjoyable. Probably should get back to it someday to finish off the Plat and play the DLC I bought months ago.

Bloodborne really teaches you how to parry and dodge. I was used to the sword and board style from souls but once I figured out how to parry and dodge things went much better.

See what happens when you have a two week sale Sony?... lol
When did I do any of that?

I simply posted a meme that said that not liking popular things does not make you interesting. You are inferring all of that from nothing. I also have not given any opinions on games.
