It's crazy $30 Far cry 3 classic

Or $30 far cry 5 season pass, which includes far cry 3?

Wut dafaq
I was discussing this with a friend recently and the conclusion we came to was that the $30 Far Cry 3 classic is for people who don't want to spend upwards of $40-60 for Far Cry 5 AND the season pass/whatever version has all DLC.

At first glance you think "what the fuck?" but then you gotta take into consideration that not everyone liked the idea of the setting for Far Cry 5 so they weren't into it.

Same here- Sony sent me a God of War code but I am not going to use it.

PM me if you want it!

Gonna chime in an also say I got a God of War code.

Still undecided if that's a big enough discount to get the game or not though.

If you have GCU, getting physical for $48 (+ tax) is still the better value in long term (since you could trade-in). Unless you strictly prefer digital and love keeping games.

Still holding out for deeper sale.

Speaking of Bloodborne and Souls style games, I tried Lords of the Fallen last night even after a friend warned me it wasn't good.

I got a few bosses in and decided it wasn't for me. The handful of times I died at the beginning of Bloodborne while I was frustrated were more fun than the little bit of Lords of the Fallen I played.
It is not much more than a generic Souls-like game. Some of the bosses are pretty bad (the ice/fire twins toward the end is an exercise in grinding and takes waaay too long), and that stands in contrast to Dark Souls which is known for great boss encounters. It tried some new things that worked to varying degrees - like the ability to refill some of your healing items without a total reset of the area by going near the save point crystals. It was the first XB1 game I beat and then quickly moved on, and didn't bother with the DLC.

When it came out it was early in the life of the consoles and we didn't have any Souls like games on it yet and libraries were young and filled with ports of last gen developed games, so it was pretty cool at the time having a high def, decent looking game of the type made for the consoles. It plays like an early console game. But now we have many good Souls like games to play on those consoles, so it definitely pales in comparison. It's been free on both consoles of PS+/Gold and it is an ok time waster if you have nothing else to play, but the libraries on both consoles are mature at this point and most people have backlogs of much better games.

And GoW was $39.99? before GCU a few weeks back during the days of play (maybe $49.99 before gcu..) so its been cheaper physical.
Thats when i grabbed it.

Nice. Still too much of a CAG myself and wanting it lower. I just can't justify paying too much (over $20) for SP games due to lack of replayability. Although, in retrospect, @ $39.99 you could beat it immediately and trade it in to recoup the cost. Would've done that for any other title besides GoW though. GoW is probably something worthy of collecting (or part of massive trade-in when next gen consoles come around, who knows).

Bloodborne really teaches you how to parry and dodge. I was used to the sword and board style from souls but once I figured out how to parry and dodge things went much better.
It does but DS has the third option of blocking in a pinch. That's what kills be about Bloodborne is getting caught in a situation where no matter where you dodged, you're open to a second attack and have to eat it sometimes. I get pissed off when the game literally gives me no options.

If I'm a tried and true lover of arcade racers like need for speed's, blur, split-second, burnout and such where it's all about crazy drifting, should I even give dirt rally a chance? It has such beautiful reviews and the price is good but it's also supposed to be a hard rally game. I've never really been into realistic racers, and even hybrids like Driveclub never really totally caught my attention. Basically, I know going in dirt rally is nothing like what I normally play, I'm just trying to figure out whether it's worth 8 bucks to give this one a chance. Anyone else in similar shoes give it a try already?

Gravel seems more my speed at first glance, but it's over twice the price and doesn't have the glowing reviews.

Also, a reminder that some of us may still have 15% coupon sitting in our emails from the Sony Rewards from late last year. I had mine growing Moss waiting for the time to use it, and will be using it today

Dirt Rally is only for people that are into hardcore rally racing. It was made for the people that felt Dirt had gotten too accessible/arcadey.

It’s a very good game, but it doesn’t sound like it’s for you. No matter how good it is, it’s still a type of game you don’t seem to enjoy. I wouldn’t recommend it. Not only is it difficult as a sim racer, but it’s difficult within it’s own series. If you want to give this series a chance, I would wait for Dirt 4 to go on sale again.

Thanks guys, I know both of you are right but it's so hard to resist the Deep sale and the siren song of my backlog begging for sacrifice at its altar.

I'm thinking maybe gravel. Baja is cheaper but I think I will like gravel more than some of the reviewers that I have read

I really wish Sony let us have more than 10 items in a cart, it's really hard to deal with sales like this. I want to put everything in there and then just delete stuff down to a reasonable level, instead of feeling like I'm shuffling things around forgetting stuff

It does but DS has the third option of blocking in a pinch. That's what kills be about Bloodborne is getting caught in a situation where no matter where you dodged, you're open to a second attack and have to eat it sometimes. I get pissed off when the game literally gives me no options.
What can't you dodge or parry in Bloodborne?

I agree on the 10 item limit, can't see any real benefit to Sony having this limitation other than to stop someone from accidentally buying the whole store in 1 transaction. That said you can use the wish list to manage the games in the sale though, that's how I do it, only negative is it doesn't tally the total cost.

You need to git gud. Being completely serious, if you are constantly finding yourself backed into a corner, you need to reevaluate your play style because unless you're rolling into the attack from an enemy, near every attack is avoidable. Or utilize the gun, depending on the enemy, it can literally stop an attack animation and give you openings for crit strikes.

A large chunk of the bosses in BB can't be parried which is something that does bug me about the game honestly. But yeah you can evade in those instances and be fine, especially considering all these games are incredibly generous with the amount of iframes you get on the evade compared to most other action games.

Also BB has the rally mechanic for a reason, if you take damage you should really be trying to get in there and recover most of it. Honestly the rally mechanic is one of my favorite aspects of the game vs the Souls series and constantly seems to be ignored by most people.

No god of war code for me but I own the game.
Same here, have my unopened copy sitting on the shelf. I guess this was more of a targeted promo email they sent out.

Edit: Just got the email and no 20% off this time around. Oh well, for the amount of games I'm getting I'll take the current savings over none at all.

My wishlist has been full since they added the feature. Wishlist management is a level 28 optional perk for the backlogger class.

Paired down my list of eleven games to the six I wanted the most and bought these:

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Standard Edition

WipEout Omega Collection

Madden NFL 18 Standard Edition

DiRT Rally

What Remains of Edith Finch

Blackwood Crossing

I bought Dishonored last night, but I'm still semi debating whether I wanna get Dragon Age Inquisition GOTY. I own and have beaten the base game but I don't have any of the DLC, so that's tempting.

It's either that or save what credit is in my account for a future sale, since I talked myself out of ESO again. Mostly because I know my PS+ sub is up sometime next month and I'm not sure when I can renew it. No point in buying an always online game if I can't even play it.

I finally checked out my cart for this week and I don't feel good about the purchases I made. Usually I just make rash decisions on an impulse and forget about it, but I've been sitting on these for nearly 2 weeks and the regret had already sunk in well before I bought them. I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. Nothing makes me happy. I just want time to play everything without real life getting in the way.

Sounds like you need to take a long, hard look at your life and stop toxic behaviors. Sometimes video games are just a way of escaping, but not dealing with, issues.

Or stay here and get validation for throwing money away at mediocre games that you'll never even play. Probably would have got more excitement out of it by lighting the money on fire in front of you.

Clearly. I think it's twofold; there's the shopping addiction (feels good to acquire something new) along with the stress of not being able to tackle everything I want in one lifetime (feels like I'm always racing the clock). Then there's the addictive quality of actually playing video games which takes over every other aspect of my life in order to mask the gaping holes in my social life; the loneliness, emptiness, depression, anxiety, pain, regret, blah blah, that I struggle through on a daily basis. It's a way of coping with the harshness of reality and possibly less destructive than other addictions out there. But yeah, it gets overwhelming at times and I have to wonder what the hell I'm doing with my life and if any of this is really making me happy (it does, but only when I have the calmness of mind to actually enjoy what I'm doing in the moment without looking ahead or worrying about the future). I look at it as money < backlog < time. The Backlog™ is a metaphor for life.

Anyway, sorry to get all heavy on a deals thread. Here's an irreverent gif as a reward for treading through my bullshit.

This. I see so much of this in this thread.

How to Survive 2 (Downloadable Game) $1.49
Alienation™ (Downloadable Game) $3.99
Reus (Full Game) $2.99
Touhou Double Focus (Full Game) $3.99
Unholy Heights (Downloadable Game) $2.79
Planet of the Eyes (Game) $2.99

My haul and already platinumed Planet of the Eyes.  What a fun game though wouldn't pay it's full price, at $3 for the 2 hour experience was well worth it.

I'm kind of the same way, but my impulse shopping mostly only lasted for a few months after I first got my PS4 and Vita respectively. I'm trying to control myself now, and it's been a few months since I bought anything from the store at all.

I haven't bought a game in months now that I'm deeply entrenched in GTA Online for the first time but I used to buy games nearly every week. I thought about buying some things in this sale but I figure there's no point when I know all I wanna play anymore is GTA lol

Can't pretend to know your situation but if primarily boils down to anxiety over the future, best advice I can give is to sit down and plan point A to point B. The plan doesn't have to work, but at least you have a goal in mind and you can stop worrying about the smaller things while working towards it. There's obviously a lot more to it than that but on the surface, planning and researching how to tackle each issue will be a huge confidence and morale boost. ;)

That's great to hear, but it begs the question: What the hell are you still doing here? I doubt anyone would stick around strictly for the conversation. ;)

After much deliberation

Gravel
Masters of Anima
Children of zodiarcs.
Lock's Quest
The Lego Movie game
Lego Jurassic
Unholy Heights
Has been heroes
Darksiders
Full throttle
Planet of the eyes

I used the 15% off coupon from Sony rewards last year , the total haul was 65 bucks or so. I also got the credit at 20% off so all in all I did well.

I also got Nom Nom Galaxy as a bonus because even though it made my final list it turns out I already own it

The only thing I'm still debating on is the dwarves. It's got a massive discount and is pretty cheap, but I can't tell whether I'd love it or hate it
