I've always had motion sickness since I was in my teens and riding the roller coasters for the first time at 6-flags.  I've been a gamer all my life, but I could never play any fps until Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield 3.  Some fps like Battlefield 1 makes me dizzy, nauseated, but I'm fine with BF4 after a few days.  Can't play the BF5 beta at all, so that's a no go for me.  It's a good thing I read the posts above about the PSVR.  I was considering it, but I had reservations that I wouldn't be able to play any VR games with it.  Now that's a no go as well.  Thanks for the comments.

It looks like there's a Flash Sale incoming!

So with Playstation Now (kinda) changing to a downloading service instead of streaming, I have a couple of questions for those in the know.

1) Is it worth it? I just realized that the $100 price point for a year was an offer that ends soon, how much is it normally?

2) Is Red Dead Redemption part of the download thing? (still not played that game)

There's no year option normally, so it's just a special offer.

Red Dead Redemption is a PS3 game, so it's just streaming only like the other PS3 games.

I completely agree with these. When my kids were young, I took them on carousels. I never had problems with carousels when I was younger but now they make me sick. Now I'm more sensitive to roller coasters. Told my kids they need to hurry up and get older so they can go on the rides without me.
I haven't even gotten to the point where I have kids asking me to go on rides with them; this was with my girlfriend. This wasn't even a big rollercoaster either, like Six Flags or The Great Escape style. Just a coaster at a local fair. But it was still fast. Thankfully I can handle the Ferris Wheel, which is what she likes to ride the most. :)

I used to not have any motion sickness, but then I got seasick once. After that, I think it was more nerves making me sick than being motion sick, but it lasted a couple of years. It's been about 5 years since, and I recently went on a bunch of rides and was fine again.

As for PSVR, I would try them (and actually bought a $200 bundle during E3). But the number of wires + pets = hell no.

I used to enjoy Knights of the Round a lot. Captain Commando is mediocre. It's a good bundle that I will buy at some point, but I might wait til 50% off.

How is that Capcom Beat Em' Up Bundle? Worth buying?
I can’t attest to the quality of the bundle, but there’s some good beat em ups in there. Still, Capcom games go on sale often and get discounts pretty early after release, so unless you feel the itch, you might want to wait a month or two and get a 30-50% discount.

Didn’t they have a deal for PS Now for like $69.99 fir a year? Just trying to decide if I should hold out realistically for a better price.

This is heartbreaking. I know a lot of people have issues with telltale games, but I love them. Unfortunately the quality has been sub par lately with guardians, Minecraft, walking dead new frontier. But I will always love walking dead season 1 & 2, wolf among us, borderlands, and the Batman games.

that’s crazy. I kind of just assumed their games were on the cheaper side to develop so therefore they would be decently profitable.

Well now THQ has more old games to buy.
Does Telltale have anything substantial to buy? Everything they make is licensed.

I feel bad for the people who are losing their jobs to poor management, but remember when TT tried to adjust the gamma and brightness of The Walking Dead and then try to sell it to us as if it was a new product?

They can essentially buy the telltale name like they did with Amalur, which EA still retains the publishing rights of the original so they can't rerelease the original without their permission. They could make it THQ Telltale and use their seemingly endless cash to get more licensing deals for the games.

Oh are you referring to the one they gave away for free with the purchase of their newest game?

I suppose so, but what was really stopping them from doing this before? Is the difference the Telltale engine that runs the games? Or is it just the name brand of Telltale as a way of selling the choose your own adventure games? Amalur is an IP, and from what anyone that has played the game says, a fairly rich IP that can be mined much further.

What. The. fuck.

So Walking Dead: The Final Season is effectively the final season...to everything?

It's like LucasArts closing all over again. This is fucking heartbreaking. I've made no secret that these are my favorite games; even the least popular entries are miles ahead of the other shit I've played. fuck 2018.

There is no way you thought Guardians of the Galaxy was that great. It was far-and-away their worst written game, only to be accentuated by the garbage engine that they never updated.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked various TT games, but it was obvious they were not run very well.

Damn. Telltale's made some of my favorite adventure games of the last ten years with The Walking Dead S1, The Wolf Among Us, Batman S1, and the Borderlands series. At least they get to finish The Walking Dead S4, but I was excited for The Wolf Among Us S2 and Stranger Things next year.

What. The. fuck.

So Walking Dead: The Final Season is effectively the final season...to everything?

It's like LucasArts closing all over again. This is fucking heartbreaking. I've made no secret that these are my favorite games; even the least popular entries are miles ahead of the other shit I've played. fuck 2018.
Yeah I'm really bummed. I've bought every one of their games at launch since back to the Future (even the Minecraft games). Bummer everyone waited for a deep discount on their games. They obviously never updated their engine because they've been treading water and had to get working on the next game. Really bummed we'll never seen wold among us 2 and the stranger things game.

Even the weaker games had a pretty strong narrative and it was easy to get swept along with them once they got going. For me, it was the Rad Mix which pushed it over the edge and made me sad when it was over. It also helps that I was a fan of the characters to begin with.

It's mostly just a blow to adventure games in general, because not a lot of studios like to take those on, especially with licensed titles and expensive IPs. Telltale games always felt like a vacation from the rest.

Telltale going out sucks. Another sour note, PSN will now be charging tax on purchases in Iowa starting October 1st according to an email I just got.

Unfortunately, they were in the middle of switching to Unity as their engine for The Wolf Among Us S2 as their first title being made off of that engine.

Sounding like they won't be finishing the final season from what I can find. Seems like second episode will be it.

They can't do that. I already bought the entire season.

There's no way they can leave Clementine's fate unfinished like that. I refuse to believe it.

Backlash will be swift. Especially since episodes always end on a cliffhanger. It guts me that all episodes were to be released by December; most of it should have been in the can by now. That will also be a 50% completion game with 0% platinum.

Surely someone will pick up the mantle? So much for preordering full seasons of games from now on.

The mismanagement must have been epic. Where did the money go? They have cash cow licenses and formulaic game design with an old engine. I'm shocked they went under.

Too much going on. Old tech that was begining to annoy loyal fans and relying on more than one team to create one story. It was a mess of epic proportions. Too little too late.

They had four teams making series at the height of their success, but I'm guessing the recent series weren't doing that well and they were probably living from payment to payment to keep development going before it caught up to them with that many people to not pay and projects to fund at once.

This Twitter thread basically suggests its pure mismanagement assuming they'd keep getting enough funds to keep them going without issue:

They basically had zero respect for their people's lives that could be ruined if they ran out of money.

Not to be callous, but what is the likelyhood we can ask for or get any type of compensation from PSN/XBox for this? They have refunded money for games from studios that closed before.

This is not the kind of news article I wanted to read on a Friday:
Get used to it. Fridays are the days people typically get fired.

As for the games themselves, I enjoyed the Telltale Games because they act as a palate cleanser in between other long games. It gives you variety AND a sense of accomplishment (progress), without having to learn new gameplay mechanics or serious mental engagement. Plus the time commitment was low.

Shame the company was so mismanaged.

This is a good question since the vast majority are licensed IP’s.
Probably not in the short term, this won't invalidate their licenses for those IPs most likely and continuing to sell games would help to recover some of what they might owe after bankruptcy. However it does likely put an end date on how long they'll be available long term because one would assume there is an end date to those licenses and when it comes they (likely, you never know, maybe they make enough over time that it will be worth it to have money keep trickling in) won't renew.
