Shouldn’t we just teach children how to tell the difference between fact and fiction? Yes, there are factual aspects in this game but it is a video game that takes 100’s of liberties because in the end it is a game meant for enjoyment. This is not a tool we will use to teach children, why try to act like it will be?

This debate is absolutely bonkers.
Of course we should teach people the difference between fact and fiction. That’s part of why I dislike what they’re doing in this game. They’re blending fact and fiction together and making it more difficult for some people to tease out what’s true and what isn’t. Lots of names, dates, locations, weaponry, etc willl be factually based. Then there’s lots of other names dates locations etc that will be totally made up. I question how far the fictional aspects should go.

It doesn’t bother me that there will be made up battles or a made up city or fictional characters. But I question whether inserting a woman into a position where she likely would never have been in that time period, is a good idea.

And yes the debate is bonkers but that’s part of why it’s interesting. I just don’t understand why they would make that choice with a game set in this time period.

I personally don’t care what they do. I’m not buying the game no matter who the protagonist is. But honestly, I have an inherent knee jerk reaction to making a woman a soldier in that time period. It hits that pandering button that grinds my gears. But again, I don’t have a problem with other female lead characters, Laura Croft, Ellie, or a woman protagonist squad leader or general or hero or whatever in the next COD near future war game. It’s something about going back in time and doing it that strikes me as wrong somehow.

I picked up several pinball tables and Frisky was right. Most of the packs I bought for PS3 I was able to then purchase as “free” on the PS4 pinball fx3 game.

A couple marvel packs didn’t work that way and I may have to go import or something to get those.

First off, Frisky is the man. Reliable as hell for these deals with takes alot of time.

Second, for a final fantasy noob who has only played about 25% of final fantasy IX (as a kid back in the day) where should I reasonably start..my issue is I feel like I can never finish RPGs I always hit a wall. Happened to me with Chrono Trigger too.

Oh yeah, and is the sale worth it or should I just try to get the originals on ps1/ps2 instead?

FFX/X-2 is a really good deal in my opinion and the way of leveling up the characters in 10 is great. I personally LOVE 10-2. It's not for everyone but I'm not ashamed to say the dress up mechanic was a ball. 12 had this great mechanic where you can teach the game how to fight for you the way that you want but still control it turn by turn if needed. It's still a little pricey.

I love love LOVE Final Fantasy. 10 and 12 and even 13 are easier to play and get finished just because there's more direction of what you have to do, less of what town was I supposed to go to, what direction was I going in this dungeon.

Do you have the ability to play the older games (Vita or PSP)? They don't get much lower that $5 but often go on sale,

I'd get X/X-2 if you wanted to play a FF.

Star Ocean 3 (Till the End of Time), and it's not even close.
I’ll second this! And as quality goes...

SO3 >>>> SO4 >> SO5

That is unless you care about graphics above all else. Then you should just skip SO3.

Second, for a final fantasy noob who has only played about 25% of final fantasy IX (as a kid back in the day) where should I reasonably start..my issue is I feel like I can never finish RPGs I always hit a wall. Happened to me with Chrono Trigger too.
Hit a wall how? Difficulty, or boredom? Honestly, if you can't get through FF9, maybe just skip FF entirely. Play something shorter or less RPG-y, like Child of Light, which is a good RPG-lite. Or Bastian. The FF games can be good, but are all pretty long.

These games go on sale pretty quick. Plus they push free dlc like crazy on all their games. I always wait on these games to go on sale. Buy RDR2 money better spent.
Two completely different games. At least recommend they get a different FPS instead. :shame:

Were you able to get it for this price? It’s only showing the non-plus price of $15.xx for me
Nah, the $15.99 for me as well. Still considering it, but less so. I bought it way back in early access on my (former!) laptop, but still don't really like plugging a mouse in to play games on my (current) laptop, so just looking for that $5 or so console price. I really screwed up forgetting to download it when it was a Games for Gold thing a few months ago.

Finally grabbing Dragon Quest XI on sale this week. All of the PlayStation 4/Vita Dragon Quest games are great; JRPG fans should snap them up.

Just a heads up: DQ11 will be $30 physical in the (Bestbuy I think?) BF deals, same bonus stuff included. If anyone would rather have the physical instead, and cheaper.

Ok so I bought several zen pinball 2 table packs and most of them I was able to purchase for free on fx3. However, two of the marvel packs will not show up as free for me and I can’t import them in fx3. Any suggestions on how to unlock those tables?

DQ11 is an amazing game.  Highly recommend it for any jrpg fans.  The story and characters are fantastic.  About 100 hours for the platinum, but not terribly grindy and very enjoyable.

What other dragon quest games are on PS4/vita other than heroes and builders? I played them on DS/3DS but didn't realize there were some on vita or ps4.

Dragon Quest XI, Heroes, Heroes II, and Builders are the current PlayStation 4 games. Builders is the only one available on Vita in the US; Heroes II also came out on Vita in Japan. Builders II will arrive next year (though a US PlayStation 4 version hasn't been officially announced yet).

Fans of the series may want to join the Dragon Questers Facebook group. It's a large and active community that's almost as rewarding as the games themselves. :)

Ok for anyone else with this issue here’s how I solved it. I had to go buy the free vita version first then that made the PS4 version free to buy.

That's what I'm looking out for. And this sale runs until the Tuesday after BF so trying to score a physical copy won't make anyone miss the discount if BB sells out or whatever.

Same applies to Nier Automata, which will be $20 at Bestbuy.

I’ll second this! And as quality goes...
SO3 >>>> SO4 >> SO5
That is unless you care about graphics above all else. Then you should just skip SO3.
I still play Intellivision games for fun (like Atari), so graphics have never been an issue for me.

So, can we expect any of these games to drop lower during the actual Black Friday sale, or should I jump on some now? Because, that SEGA collection seems like a good deal, but I am kind of hoping that we may see a few dollars off the digital version of Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far.

The Star Ocean games and Sega Genesis Classics are on sale through 11/27 so they won't drop for BF.

It's good to know that I have time to decide, and that I don't have to jump on them right away. I was kinda worried that if I waited for the Black Friday deals to start, that these would disappear.

Last night, I redeemed a code from a $10 PSN card that I bought at GameStop last weekend. Although it showed me the new total in my wallet, the funds weren't there when I went to buy some of the Zen Pinball tables. Am I completely screwed, or just screwed?

Anyone know if the Hidden Dragon Legend language issue (I guess there wasn't even English text at launch) has been patched and fixed?
Yes, there is English text. The only problem I had post-patches is occasionally the game would crash on certain cutscenes. Had to hold the button down to skip those ones.

Anyone remeber when the 10% Off universal code was given last year? Was it when the big sales started, or on that Black Friday weekend?
Last year I used a discount code on November 10, and it was a 20% off code. I'm pretty sure it was a universal code, and the one in December was a single-use e-mail code, which I used on December 16.

I’m pretty sure today is the day we receive our $15 from the ‘buy 2 games from this list’ promotion.

Also, some Telltale titles are being de-listed from Steam. Get the ones you want while you still can.

It was on or about 11/19 for the $15 credit.

ff wise 13-3 would be a good choice if you liked 10-2 since it uses the dress sphere like system only you can equip attacks or spells on up to four directions per outfit.  Many come with fixed slots though.  It is also extremely short and the majority of sidequests are optional.  It uses real time combat instead of turn based or atb so its not for everyone.

One of the nicer things was you could customize your equipment and dress spheres.  Though some of them don't let you.

I’d look at your PSN transaction history and try to see if you can see what happened. You ought to have an email from redeeming the code as well.
