All I ended up was Rise of Tomb Raider 20th year celebration.  Was going to pick up Far Cry Primal and a few other cheaper games but FC Primal is cheaper on XBox even with the 20% coupon I got with my PS4 Pro.  Will hold on to the 20% off code for something else.

I bought a 20% off coupon on eBay for $6, and the cart came out to a shade over $100 after the discount. I recommend anyone else that wants to buy a large dollar amount of goods and hasn’t used a 20% off in 2018 to buy the code to grab the extra discount. It goes a long way.

I’m happy with my holiday shopping. I have enough VR to last me into the summer.

Usually after a big sale like this Sony tends to have a let down week of no sales or the usual garbage.  I wouldn't expect much from today's update.

Based on how sparse the last 1-2 weeks of Holiday Sale updates have been, I'm hoping those were the let-down weeks.

To be honest, everyone interested should have plenty to play right now after the sale - not too much worth buying was not on sale. Take it easy on adding to the backlog, I know I welcome the respite. I've only started one of the five I bought, although a couple were impulse dollar purchases.

After debating it for the entire time it was on sale, my last purchase of the Holiday Sale was Fire Pro Wrestling World at the last moment. After the Black Friday sale and the Holiday Sale, I finally have a decent PS4 library after finally getting a PS4 after a few years of not having one

Lol this. It's a careful balance TBH, as I'm finding myself playing not games in my backlog but games that continue to entertain (Fallout 76) or I buy on a whim from a sale and end up being amazing, like Overcooked 1 & 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 I got maybe 25% into the game and dropped cold turkey because it was just flat out not fun or entertaining. Then I see an article promoted this morning featuring RDR2 on the cover and headlined "Games don't need to be fun to be good". Yeah. . .bull-fucking-shit.

But back to the point: I love finding a deal more than I do playing a game sometimes. The problem occurs when I'm ready for a new game to play and want that to coincide with a sale, which sometimes is a happy coincidence but more often than not: the backlog isn't a source of inspiration because there's no "high" from just having purchased. Not sure if there's a medical term for it but I've learned that unless I'm ready to play that new game that's on sale, chances are it's wasted money because I'll never get around to it or it will go cheaper by the time I'm ready to.

Unfortunately for me, even armed with this knowledge I'm still a sucker for the deal.

Agreed--expecting a sale after a month-long one is asking a little much of them. If there were sales all the time, they'd be largely irrelevant.

Kind of like how places like craft stores have standing coupons every day of the year, or Hollister or Express with daily sale emails.

Yes. I guess in theory it was for those who played TLoU on PS3 and just wanted the DLC on PS4, but in practice it seems to just screw over people who don't realize it's in the Remastered edition. I never bought it, but I try to warn others away whenever it comes up.

For the record, it's a good DLC, it's just already in the game on PS4.

As for everything being on sale, I have 66 games in my backlog plenty of which either haven't been on sale or at least haven't for some time. A few highlights:

I just played The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 3. You have to download it within the game, there's no separate store link.

They list the final final episode as being March 26. I'm really glad it's being finished up for good, and episode 3 was a return to form.

I'm trying to decide if I want to keep my pre-order for Kingdom Hearts 3 at Gamestop. I don't have anything to trade in toward it and it'll end up in the backlog.

In other news, looking forward to playing Blackout mode on both systems when it starts.

 
Damn it, I totally forgot to buy my 3rd cart. Nothing serious lost, but still. I was going to grab final station, blood bowl, flame in the flood, and true fear.

I guess I'm going to have to be okay with the 20 other games I bought and the couple thousand in my backlog

Yup, only got that and Infamous: First Light. Had them both on my wish list for a very long time, and decided to get them instead of something newer, or something cheaper--debated whether to get the two Destroy All Humans! games but ultimately passed, as those were never really on my list until they appeared in the sale.

Also have an Xbox One so I got a couple things in that holiday sale as well. No Steam games... the sales have been disappointing there the past couple of years.

Yeah, I contacted Sony this morning via phone and they actually refunded it for me and I got the Remastered version instead. (I honestly thought the Remastered was just the game, you know, Remastard for the PS4.)

Anyhow, hopefully I'll make it through the base game this time, when I get to it, I gave up on it on the PS3 when it first game out... Loved the story and whatnot. The gameplay I found to be more frustrating than fun.

Nope. Gave me the PS3/Vita versions but not the PS4 stuff. Those are technically separate rereleases on PS4 while the Vita/PS3 versions were technically the same collection on two systems.

OOf, sorry to hear that. Sony are real dicks, and usually only give you one return EVER. I wouldn't have used that on such cheap DLC :(

If anything Kingdom Hearts 3 will be massively produced and will crash in price likely after a year like FFXV. I would wait and am waiting myself unless you've been waiting forever to play it.

I haven't been waiting forever to play it, so that factors into me waiting to get it. Plus HD releases would keep me busy while waiting for a price drop.

everyone has been waiting forever to play kh3 as it's like one of the duke nukems of rpgs.  Considering the second game came out on the ps2 gen and we are now in the ps4 gen that's pretty damn sad.

 
I still haven't played DDD and BBS myself for Kingdom Hearts. Also going to do a full KH1/2/card game one/bbs/ddd play through so when I finish that in like 3 years i'll be ready for KH3 heh.

Pretty sad indeed. I remember thinking that it would've been released during the PS3/360 era. Square Enix ended up milking it just like Final Fantasy. I'm willing to wait because I'm a casual fan of the series. I feel bad for the diehard fans who have been invested in the series since the very beginning though. No way they should have had to wait this long for KH3.
