The vanilla God of War (the newest one) price isn't that bad right?
1)The game is one of the greatest games ever made. $60 was a bargain.
2) Vanilla? What other version is there?

I was disappointed there was no Flash Sale today. It seems we're due for one and with the holiday weekend it seemed perfect for a Spring Flash Sale. Bah.

True, but I don't think the store will be 'operating' today due to the holiday. That's why new releases like the Konami Anniversary Collection and God's Trigger released on Thursday, 04/18, instead of 04/19.
Today is not a Holiday; Sunday is. We're still two days away. Those games releases yesterday because new releases traditionally happen on the PS store on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ehhh, today is not Easter, true. However, it is a holiday in both the Christian (Good Friday) and Jewish (Passover) traditions. When I went to Christian school, Good Friday was always a day off from school to attend services.

This is true, but it's not really a major holiday, like say, Christmas. Unless we're talking about a highly religious mom & pop store, no business is going to close for Good Friday. Me, I'm just happy I can go back to eating meat on Fridays after today for another year.

Vanilla meaning base game. Not the one that is $6 more for the extra armor and whatever.

Thanks everyone, guess I will pull the trigger.

So nothing on the flash sale really interested me and I grabbed God of War instead, and, is the give me a challenge difficulty nothing but damage-sponges? I fought the first boss and he took about 50 heavy swings plus whatever damage the kid did with arrows before I killed him (and yeah I counted, by the time the boss hit the 50% hp mark I was pretty bored of fighting him so I got curious.) It felt really weird for what is essentially a tutorial enemy that only has 2 attacks.

First impression of the game is that they meant the "balanced experience" difficulty literally, as give me a challenge felt not balanced.

ehhh... i actually thought burnout paradise wasn't as good as 2 or 3 because of the the open world and no circuit tracks.
I also like Drive club and the the codemasters games more.

Anyone able to buy anything on the PSN store right now? I keep getting credit card errors even though my stuff is valid. Just curious if anyone else is getting the same thing.

I started on "Challenge" but dropped to "Balanced" before too long because, like you said, the enemies were damage sponges and it was tedious. The game became much more enjoyable on Balanced so no sense slogging through it on Challenge especially since there are no trophies tied to difficulty level. After finishing the story, I even dropped it to the lowest difficulty to finish up the Platinum.

Holy crap, i haven't played Rocket League for maybe over a year. I boot it up because of the Shazam promo and there's all this new stuff with crates and keys and tiers. There's an entire complex ecosystem of trading in-game items between players !

No, even then, Burnout Paradise is way better than any of the Forza Horizon games. They're bland imitations of Burnout Paradise. It's not even close.
Agree to disagree. I am a huge fan of the Burnout Series but the Forza Horizon games kick ass in terms of open world racers. Not even close.

They’re also different types of games with one focusing on takedowns and destruction. The other on a wide variety of racing.

Hell even critics agree : Burnout Paradise 87 on Metacritic. Forza Horizon 3 - 91, Forza Horizon 4 - 94. Personally think 3 is better than 4 but this is just to illustrate your “bland” imitation thing is a load of crap.

But to each their own.

Ehh, everyone has their opinions but I enjoyed Forza Horizon 3 more than Burnout Paradise.
That's fine. I'm not saying it as an objective thing.

Load of crap? Wow. Tell me what you really think. It's fine if you prefer Forza Horizon over Burnout Paradise, but it's not an objective thing.

The Forza Horizon games have always come off to me as bland, corporate Burnout Paradise clones with none of the style and attitude to them and nothing that's arcadey about them despite the way people constantly claim they are arcade racers. I still like FH and FH3 a lot, but FH4 undermines the potential fun with lots of bugs/issues and poor design. Burnout Paradise makes exploring the world fun with no collectibles put up in weird places that you can't access until late game when you're done other activities that eventually make them accessible. The game actually emphasizes going about playing the sorts of races you want towards the eventual goal of beating the game and not some weird endless mess of icons that just wants to steal all of your time. The way you unlock cars is actual fun and challenging without resorting to loot crates that are full of boring cosmetics that add nothing to the game. The weather system makes sense and doesn't make a week every month less fun to play the game and doesn't include the dumb Forzathon system where you're asked to spend a week playing in boring, low power cars completing goals that are kind of boring. It's kind of just a superficial game for me that just wants me to play it forever without much giving me a sense of accomplishment in it. Forza Horizon 3 is cool because of the unique environment and the DLC campaigns showing that they didn't take themselves too seriously in going for some crazy locales, but Forza Horizon 4 completely went back on that stuff to a boring British area that is the same kind of forested location like the first two games and from what I've seen, the DLC campaigns aren't changing that much. It's weird to have such a big departure from what made FH3 a cool game.

For me, Burnout Paradise has a great feel, great action with the takedowns, and overall great design that just makes it timeless enough that I've beaten the game a few times and own it on every platform. The multiplayer is a thing of beauty that nothing else has really come close to it in terms of giving people some fun challenges to complete as a group. The DLC added a lot of cool types of cars, including some generic versions of legendary cars that play very differently to the rest of the cars, and the new area is a great change of pace from what Paradise City offers. The post-game support even sets it apart to add bikes and a whole campaign around that along with a lot of other features that helped keep that game feeling fresh a year later.

Burnout Paradise is great but it's a bit disingenuous to say that FH3/4 aren't even close.

Anyway, Burnout Paradise is a no brainer purchase for $5. Not going to get much more bang for your buck.

Not going to respond again re: Forza Horizon, other than to say I strongly prefer it over Paradise for open world racing. That’s my opinion.

Should also mention that as a huge Burnout fan, I personally think the series also works better in closed race circuits, I’d take Burnout 3/Revenge over Paradise any day. But on PS4, Paradise is the only option you have outside Dangerous Driving, which I’m having fun with but it’s definitely not very polished.

For $5, Paradise Remastered is an easy buy for those that don’t have it.

When did they dump a ton of free themes and avatars onto the store? I could have sworn each time there was a free anything posted on the FP it was filtered by low-high and I never saw all these freebies before. Maybe I'm just way behind? Literally spent the last half hour buying 300+ free items. o_O
Now make a Japanese PSN account and download all the free themes that are only on the Japanese store!

I didn't see it mentioned in this thread, but Skybound is releasing an ultimate Telltale Walking Dead Definitive Collection which includes all the episodes on disc (since The Final Season physical release only had 2/4 episodes). Unfortunately it's $249 (there's also a smaller $99 version), but it includes a bunch of extra collector's items. If I had the money, I would probably buy it for the statue alone. Anyway, just figured I'd mention it since people were annoyed about the incomplete Final Season disc release (though it would be nice if they just sold the game separately).

I was working on a Picross game and enjoyed getting a good chunk of the template level done.

You're not the only one that feels this way. I have tried to get into the Forza Horizon games and they have struggled to keep me interested or motivated to keep playing and 100% the cheevos. The only one that I did 100% was the free fast and furious ad tie in and that seemed like just the right amount of game. They feel like a better version of The Crew and not so much Burnout

Only had a Playstation for a few months, but is it just me or do most of the sales seem to be the same games at the same prices over and over again?

They do tend to repeat. Every now and then the sales will be worse for the same game. It's good for not feeling bad about missing things. Some DLC tend to not go on sale often so watch out for those.

Yeah I saw this after finding out that the disc version of the final season is missing the last episode. But to pay $100 for a bunch of worthless plastic or resin and a bunch of other junk is asking too much. Most people only want the complete season on disc not every other game again. It was cheaper for me to buy the disc used instead of digital because the tax forces me to buy $30 worth of cards.

Case in point, Chasm is currently on sale for $14.99 even though it was on sale for $11.99 for a weekend in February.
Yeah, best to always check psprices before you buy something to see if it's been cheaper before and then decide if you want it. I feel like this happens a surprising amount.
