How are people feeling about the days gone reviews? Still buying day one?
I'm torn because reviewers got GoW oh so wrong for me; it was the boring same old GoW I knew to expect but with pretty graphics and a well-paced story (neither of which I care about as a focal point). Days Gone could be my jam with open world exploration but I called it from day one of the game being announced at E3: the game would get mediocre reviews and just not live up to the hype. Gut instincts never wrong.

That said, just found out yesterday there was new Overcooked 2 DLC; such a simple game but hours of fun for us!

If we are choosing between two extremes I will absolutely go with a "fat chick" any day.  OMG such a revelation that there is a correlation lol

Sooooo... I wanted to play my MK11 but remembered I have yet to play my Soul Calibur 6,  Power Rangers Battle for the Grid, and Dead or Alive 6. Da-damn you Shao Khan and pre-order items making me buy you full price!

Gold Week sale prices are up. They seem to be higher than usual. Can’t believe the prices on AoT 1 and 2, and Berserk. Ni No Kuni 2 on sale for $10 physically. $36 digital! Ys Viii is still $42. Batshit insane.

Welcome to the soon to be digital future, people think pricing will get better once Physical goes away but fuck no, sale prices have steadily been going up for years, the boom of crazy Steam and PSN sales are long gone. Yeah we will see some 'good' sales here and there, but once physical games are gone, shit will get bad. It sucks, and I like going digital when I can

Picking up the Naruto Trilogy and maybe the Last Remnant, and Lamont of innocence.

Being an old game, burnout does not deliver a good sense speed and car weight. I'll feel like the car is weightless. After playing forza horizon you wont like older racing games.

Its too bad that Days Gone seems to suck. PS is my secondary console so I wasnt going to buy it until it hit $15, but I might pass overall now. Seems like TLOU, which I still haven't played, is miles better.

The general consensus seems to be it's above average while doing nothing particularly new, or offering quality of life aspects some newer titles have brought to the table recently, but is an alright play if you're not burnt out on open world games or zombies. I've seen several comparisons to the Mad Max game as well as more "this doesn't seem bad?" "this looks better than I expected" comments than I have for any game in a long time over the last day. It's definitely no Last of Us, or Dying Light, but it looks better than "suck" level.

Target already shipped my preordered copy from their February B2G1. Based on the reviews I've read, repetition seems to be a primary complaint but the game also sounds similar to Mad Max from some years ago (Freakers/zombies notwithstanding); that game also reviewed somewhat tepidly with a similar negative emphasis placed on repetition but I ended up loving it, so I'm optimistic about Days Gone.

It also helps that I technically paid $40 for it thanks to Target; I'm not sure I could justify paying $60 at launch.
I'm one of the few that loved Mad Max so the idea of this game excites me.

Golden Week sale looks pretty bad, most of those prices have been lower in other sales. Sad when the locoroco remasters are the only thing catching my eye.

I'm glad the guy above me enjoyed Mad Max, but man was that game absolutely bland. Only had to play the first hour of it to determine it wasnt for me. Days Gone is gonna have to be (theoretically) MUCH better than Mad Max to warrant any type of attention, especially after it was hyped for years, as well as delayed.

Asia and Japan getting stuck with Metal Gear Survive for one of their free PS+ games (the other game being either The Witness or Darksiders 1 remastered depending on region). Expect some disappointment next week when North American PS+ games get announced.

I'm with RiPPn, only games on the Golden Week Sale list that caught my eye at those prices were the Locoroco remasters, and the prices for those are nothing special (first has been $5).

I thought Metal Gear Survive was pretty enjoyable at least until the campaign was over. The endgame wasn't fun to me and I didn't play much past the story's end. If it's a PS Plus game in the future, go in with an open mind and you might have some fun.

As for Days Gone, I'm still getting it tomorrow. Only things I'm concerned about are the technical issues but I think I'll enjoy it outside of that.

The only "reviewer" I agree with most times.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVbL-8BFZ2s

Points out the issues, but also points out the good parts. I pre-ordered from Bestbuy for my final purchase with GCU, 20%+25% coupon so for $35 i'll be happy with it.

Points out the issues, but also points out the good parts. I pre-ordered from Bestbuy for my final purchase with GCU, 20%+25% coupon so for $35 i'll be happy with it.

I've just started watching his reviews and they are legit. I couldn't stand his voice initially but the quality of the reviews makes the ear ache worth it.

Regarding the game it's going to be a wait for under $20 for me. Maybe a Black Friday game. Too much fun playing Sekiro still.

He's a sith

$15 is great for 428. And $30 for DQ11 is still the lowest it's been?

The list also has "mega man 10 trial"... I guess people who actually get paid to write posts don't have as much attention to detail as our frisky.

I was excited for this sale and am still sitting on a 20% coupon.  Sad to see poor discounts across the board.

Pretty much the only thing that jumps out to me is Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ for $12.  And I already own that.  Great deal on a good game for those who do not.

Looking forward to Days Gone. Mostly ignoring reviews because it seemed like one of those titles that got a lot of early underserved hate based on previews, and once that happens I have a hard time trusting most reviewers on a game. Ultimately I trust the developer, and trust a couple reviewers that seem positive on it, and don't mind giving it a chance because it seems up my alley.

I thought Metal Gear Survive was pretty enjoyable at least until the campaign was over. The endgame wasn't fun to me and I didn't play much past the story's end. If it's a PS Plus game in the future, go in with an open mind and you might have some fun.
Metal Gear Survive always looked like PS+ fodder to me anyway, personally I don't mind cause I've always wanted to try it out but not enough to pay more than a dollar or two for it so this is the right price.

Anyhow, Golden Week sale looks pretty standard, not amazing but not really terrible either imo. Actually a few things I am kinda interested in so that's cool.

they also have underwater ray romano bundle for 25 bucks.

I picked up Days Gone because I'm from Oregon. An open world game that takes place here isn't really something I was expecting to ever get made, so my interest in the game is a little different than most.

Hope you enjoy visiting such Oregonian iconic spots such as the old mill and the deserted gas station.

There's a lot of group think in media and the games media is no stranger to this. One of my favorite things is listening to some podcasts or watching some reviews and they will almost always only reference things that happened in the first hour or two of the game. I realize there are time constraints that people have, but I have the impression a lot of people in games media pick up a game for about 15 minutes to say they played it and then use the 15 minutes they played as a confirmation of someone else's impressions, review, etc. so they'll sound more knowledgeable and then feel like they can speak more intellectually about it on a podcast, etc. or maybe even write about it.

Looking through the Golden Sale hoping to find something to buy, but since I know nothing about most of the games, I'm watching reviews on YouTube.

So then  I check steam to see if a game is also out on PC. I'm trying to buy just PlayStation games for my PS4 since PC games sales are usually better.. wow, the price differences.

According to the PlayStation store, RRP for some games are $59.99, yet the same game on PC is $29.99 RRP. Heck, Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters is supposedly down in price from $60 to $10, yet on steam the RRP is $10!?!

Are Sony bumping prices up so they can say the discounts are better or are they just overpriced to begin with?

Not happy with the prices on Y's VIII and Blue Reflection.  Neither of those titles should still be listed for that high despite the low level of physical copies out there.  That being said there are some gems in this sale and some titles that I am considering.  Any thoughts on any of the following?

Akiba's Trip

Deception IV

Gal Gun:  Double Peace

Valthirian Arc

Utawarerouono Bundle

Yomawari Midnight Shadows

Suikoden I-IV

The Last Remnant

The Liar and the Blind Prince

428:  Shibuya Scramble

Code Realize titles

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not a fan of how someone at Sony probably noticed all of Superbeat XONiC's and Deemo's add-ons and thought "Let's just discount these by 40-50% to add 50 more "items" to the sale!". :wall:

I'm not buying anything from this sale because it's hot garbage. Everything has either been the same price or cheaper before.

Case in point: check psprices for price history. Akiba, Gal Gun and Yomawari have all been cheaper in the past. Have not checked the rest.

I was going to make a comment that you can't go wrong with Suikoden II for $3, but fuck me if it hasn't been $2 before.

I'm finally in for Wild Guns reloaded at the new record low.  I was going to get the Switch version eventually, but boss rush isn't worth twelve bucks.

Short answer. Yes.

It seems like there's a lot of the same games on "sale" on the eShop as well for the same prices. Seems like Sony is applying the Switch Tax(TM) to games on their platform.

--------------

Just saw the pricing on Dark Souls 3. Just laughably terrible. What the hell? The deluxe edition has been on sale for the same price as the standard is right now.

Lack of PSN coupons/promos and the gutting of the Sony Rewards quests has driven most of my digital spending to Xbox.  Constant 15%+ coupon codes for Xbox credit, Microsoft Rewards quests, and random $5+ credit codes in e-mails all stack up.
