Trying to decide if I should snag Witcher 3 Complete Edition digitally. I have the disc down in my game storage but I am so lazy to go grab it lol. Been wanting to play the game though.
Why do I imagine Scrooge McDuck, only with a game pit instead of money?

Ohh those May PS+ titles are going to make people rage lol

Overcooked and Edith Finch
I thought you meant in a gaming sense because Overcooked definitely made us rage quite a bit getting 3-star everything lol. It was also free on GWG not that long ago so for people like me, been there done that which makes this offering even worse. Great game though if you've never played it. But yeah, they're shitting all over PS+ at this point ever since pulling the plug on PS3 games. Really doing a great job there, putting that extra money to use Sony.

Just bought a 4K UHD TV and a PS4 Pro to match. I think my first purchase to get the most out of this new setup should be Mega Man Legacy Collection.

I mean both are great games and I would highly recommend them to anyone to try.

But somehow I feel like it's very lackluster. I can't explain why. Not only because it's 2 instead of 6. Maybe I'm expecting a higher retail price. Maybe I'm expecting AAA games (which does not always mean quality). Maybe because I own them both already and I'm sure millions of others do.

I don't want to call it the worst month but I sure feel shortchanged...
I’d like to add my voice to the chorus of disappointment. I love Edith Finch, but it’s a 2 hour game that has been on sale for less than $10. I have absolutely no interest in Overcooked. Both feel like additional “tack-on” games that we’d get along with the two AAA titles for the month. I’m shocked they have the gall, though nothing should surprise me about this new miserly, arrogant Sony anymore.

Even though Overcooked and Edith Finch were already free on Twitch and Epic Game Store, I'm glad Overcooked is on PS+ this month so I can play it online with friends. I had no interest in Metal Gear Survive which was the leaked Asia release I thought we might get.

People focus on Sony cutting 4 games out of the lineup but you also have to remember that they increased the price of plus back in 2017 with no new added value. I mean sure for most of us that doesn't matter since you can find plus for like $30-$40 pretty easy, but, mostly just saying that it really has been one thing after another with them.

Is PS+ worth it for somebody that doesn't play any online games that need + to work? My birthday is in three days, and I was thinking of spending some birthday money on a subscription, since the discount on digital games seems way better, but since I have zero plans to play online games that use it, I'm just wondering if it's worth it.

Question: is the Arkham Knight Premium worth getting? I see that the regular edition allows free downloads of two combat missions and a few costumes--is there any content worth the extra money that the generic version doesn't? It mentioned six months of content release, but doesn't specify what.

Chances are unless you're getting $60 worth of digital game discounts per year online to offset the cost, maybe not. But many games still require logins online in order to access single player info, but I don't believe that simply having online access without PS+ would affect that.

However, if you have larger AAA games you missed on and don't want to bother hunting for to buy, it's pretty nice. I picked up Assassin's Creed Syndicate for about $65 less MSRP for the gold edition with all the extra content, already more than paying for PS+ for the year.

If you fill cart and saving over $10 it's free cloud saves.

Usually get the better discounts in flash sales, but e3 week (June) might see some good use of plus discounts. It really depends on what you already own and if you see or have many things to buy that you're waiting to go on sale.

e3/Black Friday/Xmas being the ones that have stood out years prior.

I spent very very little this year (the least I've spent since getting PS+) and only bought games that I mostly wanted to play now.

I saved around 38 bucks for the year. That doesn't count any free games I got plus I got the cloud saves.

I'm satisfied.

I just wanted to clarify.  Yes, I'm satisfied with the value of PS+ as it relates to the question I answered.

However, those sons of bitches better start giving me better free games and more of them soon.

The short answer: no.

The long answer: I wish more people would vote with their wallets so those jagoffs at Sony can get the message. Basically you're paying for 24 games a year (as long as you maintain an active subscription; fingers crossed you don't own at least half of those already), online/multiplayer access, the PS+ sales, and a bit of cloud storage. In my opinion, the PS+ sales have been awful so far this year. The last halfway decent one was The Great Indoors sale and the next one I'm looking forward to is the midyear sale (July) before the holiday sales at the end of the year. If you're planning on buying a shitload of games, I guess the discounts will pay for themselves. Personally, without the appeal of a 20% off code to sweeten the deals, I'm buying far less than I have in the past (notwithstanding the poor sales in general). As long as things keep going this way, I have no motivation to renew.

Question: is the Arkham Knight Premium worth getting? I see that the regular edition allows free downloads of two combat missions and a few costumes--is there any content worth the extra money that the generic version doesn't? It mentioned six months of content release, but doesn't specify what.
I definitely recommend the premium edition! You get all of the story DLC's and combat stuff, here's a breakdown of everything it comes with:

-Batgirl story
-Red Hood story
-Harley Quinn story
-Nightwing story
-Catwoman story
-Robin story
-Season of Infamy expansion
-A bunch of character and Batmobile skins
-Challenge packs and racetracks

The character stories are shorter missions (except for Batgirl's which is actually decently big) where you play as that character, these also unlock that character for the challenge stuff.

Season of Infamy is a story expansion added to the main game where you deal with 4 more big villains.

The challenge packs add combat and stealth challenges which test how well you can use the game mechanics. Racetracks are exactly that.

The skins are pretty fun because you can use almost all of them in the main game. A few of the Batmobile skins are just for racetracks because they are new models that don't have the winch and weapons.

What type of sub are you looking for? As if you are just getting a one or 3 month sub for sale discounts typically you can make that back in the discounted games you buy that have a plus discount. But since plus discounts are ultra uncommon these days you may be better off with just a one month sub. There was some site offering discounted psn credit so you could probably buy some credit through them to slightly offset the price of the sub further.

The long answer: I wish more people would vote with their wallets so those jagoffs at Sony can get the message.
Even if I am dissatisfied with Sony as a company these days I can't see myself unsubbing from plus honestly. I very much know I am in the minority but I've been subbed since around the second or third month its existed and only let it drop a few times so I have nearly a decade worth of free games built up. Even if Sony stopped doing plus discounts and giving out games I'd most likely stay subbed just to have access to that part of my backlog. I actually do play a very large amount of the games that we get from the program and there are still sooooooo many I haven't gotten to yet.

And for the record that doesn't really upset me or anything, I knew fell well what I was getting into when I decided to subscribe. I got no regrets.

Even though Overcooked and Edith Finch were already free on Twitch and Epic Game Store, I'm glad Overcooked is on PS+ this month so I can play it online with friends. I had no interest in Metal Gear Survive which was the leaked Asia release I thought we might get.
Unfortunately I don't think the first Overcooked supports online co-op. I think it's local only.

It seems like a year long sub at around $40 is the best value, since that would only be around $3 a month. I guess I would mostly be using it for the exclusive dlc, cheaper games, and maybe some of the free games if any of them are good. I probably won't use cloud saves or online, though I do have a friend who keeps trying to get me to try Rocket League. I'm just not a huge fan of being competitive in games with strangers. I'd much rather trash talk my friends in person, at an arcade or something, just so that I know that when they call me a bad name, that they are joking around. I don't really mind it from people I know. It just kind of gets under my skin when it's strangers.

PS+ tends to go on sale a couple of times a year for $40/year. I would recommend purchasing it then, and purchasing a couple of years at that time, that way you don't have to worry about the renewal cost. As mentioned prior, I couldn't imagine not having PS+ due to the backlog of monthly games which I have (and many I have not played). Plus (pun), the discounted game costs do add up and you get cloud storage to backup your game saves (in case your hard drive crashes or you want to transfer the saves to a new console).

2 cents:

I've had PS+ (though not continuously, but 90% of the time) since before the PS4. It's tolerable at $40 even if you don't play online. I rarely do, but it's nice to be able to decide to play online and be able to. The cloud saves and discounts were the reason I got PS+ in the first place.

Do I think it's worth it at $40 even if you don't play online much? Yea, but barely.

I have my sub til next year, I think. But with the way Sony is doing things since moving their HQ to the US, I'm unsure what I'll do after it expires.

I am subscribed to PS+ until early December... even though I've been with it since the later PS3 days and before the PS4, I'm not planning to keep going past that point.  I don't play online.  My kids used to play online a bunch but they've mostly moved on to their own PC's.  Cloud saves are nice but I can deal without them as most of the time I want to start a game fresh rather than revisit an old save.  The real kicker is my huge library of PS+ games on the Vita, PS3, & PS4.  But considering how little of them I've played over the past two or so years I think it won't be the end of the world to let them go for now.  As far as value goes, it was a great value when I didn't have a huge collection of purchases... but now even with the PS+ games disappearing I have most of what I legit want to own.  So the discount isn't as useful as it was in the past.  Also the free games the last couple months haven't really been that interesting to me and the value there has gone down significantly where as before I'd get a random indie game or something odd to try and sometimes find a gem.

Has anyone played the HD remaster or Resonance of Fate? I was hoping it would go BC for the X1 since I have it for 360, but am considering it on sale for the PS4. Any thoughts? Thanks I’m advance for any advice.

the main appeal for PS+ is the discounts and playing online

the free games were never a big selling point for me because most of them aren't worth playing or they were good games that were several years old and already bought at a big discount, which is what you see with this month

I accidentally bought a Pinball FX3 table pack that I already had from a previous Pinball FX2 purchase.  I was able to get a refund under the new refund policy.

When they were releasing PS+ games especially for Vita we would get a fairly current indie title that was cross buy and even the PS4 games would be comprised of a new release indie every now and again. This is where I found the value since it was rare that you already owned one of these. Now that those are gone and we are going to 2 "popular" titles a month, I have only not owned 2 of them offered and I'm sure as they continue doing this until the launch of the PS5 that is going to be the case. Hopefully when the PS5 launches they offer 2 and 2 again, though I do feel since the PS5 is going to be PS4 backward compatible, this will give them an out to have to offer 4 games, but we will see.

As for the discounts, they have been pretty poor as of late. Just looking at the spring sale and golden week or every sale so far this year and you really have to pick through them to find a good title at a decent discount. This didn't use to be the case especially on PS+ dedicated sales.

And since I rarely play online, the service has become borderline trash tier. Not as bad as Nintendo's switch offering, but close. Couple that with all the other shenanigans that Sony has pulled lately and I certainly have a bad taste in my mouth.

That said I'll still be getting a PS5 day one.

The main draw of PS+ for me has always been the Cloud Saves followed by the sale prices.  The Cloud Saves especially on the PS3 when game devs decided to lock their saves so you couldn't back them on via USB, but you were able to back them up on the cloud.  While the PS+ sales have been lackluster as of late, it's really just a matter of patience for me until eventually what I want goes on sales.  Online has been a bonus for me, only because of online trophies and Overwatch (the only online game a semi-regularly play.)  I try to avoid the "free" games if I can help it.

For me it's mainly the games, and discounts second.

Every month at least one game comes with it I wanted to play but never could justify paying for in the light of all the games I do buy in my backlog that are physical. I rarera buy digital games so it works great for me. Like conan from last month I'm still playing, looking forward to overcooked, and so on.

I do like the online play also but I don't do online much. Last time I really was glad I had it was dark souls remastered up until I started conan.

All this time I thought PS+ was for one to play online multiplayer
Half of the online games on PlayStation don't seem to need it to play online. That's why I question if it's truly worth it. They originally sold it as the only way to play games online, but that is no longer the case.

Been playing days gone. Absolutley love it. Havent been into a game for ages but this got me out of my slump. Its not perfect, there are definitely some AI issues, but it's just... fun. I'm really digging the story too.

Free to Play games have never needed PS+ to play online, so they're actually free to play.

I'm about an hour in and I am enjoying it. I think I am gonna restart it though since i feel I missed some shit lol. Was too distracted haha

If you are part of Players Panel Survey (Sony Playstation survey), check your email. I just received a $10 PSN code for doing surveys for them as a thank you.

The sale prices and cloud saves have been the main reason I have Plus.  I rarely play the games, even when they were more plentiful.  However there are games would miss losing access to, but I guess I could just buy them if I really miss them.  Online has been useful, but really thinking about it I don't really do much of that.  But I will definitely miss cloud saves (gotta love scum saving on some games) and the sales.

I'm finding it harder and harder to justify, even with the free games I don't really play.  Probably going to not renew this year.  If the game reduction (and it is more than just losing PS3 and Vita, remember some of those gave you access to PS4 versions) and poor selection of late are an issue the way to make a point is for everyone upset to drop it.  That's the only way Sony will learn.  A significant drop in subscriptions the year they reduce the offerings will definitely make an impact.

I'm a little spoiled by XBox Live, a little light browsing each day and clicking on things can get you a free year in a few months.  And the fact that the 360 games are almost always BC, their four game selection is looking even better compared to Sony's two (even if both sets are of questionable quality).  I'd question renewing for Live as well if it weren't so easy to get a year reward.  I just wish Sony Rewards was as easy to gain points as Microsoft Rewards.

Sony rewards feels like it has just been forgotten, the passes page has had the same stay tuned a new pass experience is coming soon for like... 5 or 6 months now? It's been so long it doesn't even feel like it's something they are actually working on.

You can't even keep track of your old in progress passes without going into your points summary and piecing it together yourself. I just realized the other day I still have a platinum trophy pass active and it's almost complete.

I was subscribed from 2011 until this past September. I've never really been much of an online gamer except for maybe Destiny and Call of Duty (once I finished the campaign mode) but like you guys, I kept it for the discounts and the cloud storage. I always felt a little disappointed with the ps+ freebies but I did find a couple that I liked, but I just couldn't justify the cost anymore. I just use a usb stick for my backup, and the discounts, between my ps4 and my Switch, I have more than enough games to play while I wait for a price I'm more comfortable with. I'm definitely going to get a ps5 when it comes out but I'm definitely not hurting for games in the meantime
