Trying the Sound Shapes demo which is pretty neat, though I screwed up on setting the screen size and can't figure out how to fix it. :p had to get through the tutorials to fix it.

OK, that was pretty awesome but before I buy one version over the other did I read correctly further up the thread that Sound Shapes is cross buy and does it matter which version I buy?  Also I know there's the level creation tools but do the levels then get shared in any way or is just making them for yourself? Reread the first post and figured it out like the goober I am tonight.

Kinda bummed that I didnt get a beta invite for FF XIV. Downloaded the video and all as soon as it was up to get registered. I have been playing around with a bunch of different F2P MMOs trying to find something to scratch that itch but for the most part they are horrible. Was hoping that FFXIV would last me a while if I got in on the beta.
This beta is for people that registered with their FFXIII codes a few months ago.

lol, 'scuse thy ignorance, but when was there an FFXIV?
Sometime around fall of 2010, it was another MMO like FF XI was but it was a pretty huge disaster.
They've overhauled the game since it's PC launch and now it's more like the follow up to FFXI that fans wanted.

Bummer about Jak and Daxter Collection for Vita. I think it's a missed opportunity to at least not work something out to make the PS3 saves compatible. I have saves for all 3 games and own the original from that crazy $2 Plus sale a few months ago. It would be a great collection to have on the go but I'm not willing to start over on every game. The lack of save compatibility kills it for me.

does xcom come with that soldier pack dlc first print runs  had? my unopened copy has it and id rather keep it sealed instead of opening it just fgor the code

Played Unfinished Swan with my 5-year-old this afternoon at the suggestion of others here. He loved it and it was a good time for both of us.

A recommended cheap Father's Day activity.

The Vita has deceptively difficult tutorials with trophies... bastards.  With the slow laggy mess that the PSN store is on the PS3 I really expected the Vita version to be as bad and was pleasantly surprised that it's rather snappy.  Of course it has it's own set of issues as it's nowhere near as robust or easy to know where to look.  Very pleased with my initial hour with the system (of updating and playing tutorials).

*tumbleweed rolls by*  I'll even settle for a @slidecage post at this point.

Anyway, for those interested, Tapatalk is currently free for iOS devices. @Mrninjasquirrel suggested the app a few weeks ago since mobile CAG 3.0 is a bit...lacking, but I never got around to buying it. Just downloaded it, and it is indeed very robust and intuitive. I would have gladly paid for this, especially since I mostly use CAG from my phone. From my understanding it also pushes thread updates/posts.

As a fellow mostly mobile user, I concur this app is much better for CAG 3.0 on the go. Paid a buck for it last week and it's been well worth it. There's also a Tapatalk 2.0 (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tapatalk-2/id585178888?mt=8), but it's at $3.99 still and hasn't been lower since a launch sale months ago.

FML moment: decided to jump on the BBY deal of a 1year ps+ card cause my subscription was on the edge of expiration, get the code in and apparently Because I failed to make sure that I had the auto renew turned off, I am now out 90 bucks (had ten in wallet) and now good through 2015...

Well looks like it's tattoo to remind yourself of this.

Worth trying a call to customer support. A few folks here have reported getting a rep willing to roll back an automated re-up. Of course, YMMV.

Well whether or not, Two years ain't too bad, just means that when I decide to pick up a PS4 late 14/early 15 I'm good on free stuff (assuming they allow digital purchase OTW).

Im waiting for a $20 copy of Tomb Raider physical. So I can just enjoy it and resell it.
They're hovering at $30 pretty frequently lately which is what makes me feel OK about waiting when we're only a couple months from holiday shopping (makes me feel so dirty saying that when summer hasn't even started yet). The bonuses are nice but QC is often fairly cheap, especially on PC, and if the MP is junky and abandoned the DLC doesn't matter any.

Anyone think Tomb Raider at that price is worth it? Really tempted!
The single player campaign is outstanding, although you'll play through it in a day or two. The multiplayer is garbage. Definltely worth it for $20, IMO.
Play through it in a day or two if you play 8 hours a day or what?
For those that are curious about the length. I just looked up my save file on Steam and I spent 14 hours on it. Was on hard difficulty, only dying a handful of times, and not worrying about achievements. You can probably chalk up an hour or so of that to just sight seeing though lol. Was a very fun ride from beginning to end.

You can run through the single player in no time at all if you do nothing but focus on the story. If you worry about getting all collectables and you're going for platinum, it'll probably take you 10-15 hours for a single playthrough.

I missed one trophy on my first run, and had to play through almost the whole game again. I didn't do anything but go from point A to B, and I think it took me like 4 hours to get through most of the game. Depends on how you play, but it's definitely not a lengthy game.

I asked this in the save compatibility thread, but I'll ask here as well. Anyone know if PSABR digital will recognize disc saves?

If Sony was really smart, they'd figure out a way to not allow anyone except PS4 users redeem PS4 PS+ games for at least six months.  I think that would create some urgency to buy the console.

I wasn't to impressed with Tomb Raider. The gameplay was good but the characters and story were incredibly dull imo.

Played through it once and had no desire to ever touch it again.

I've never played a Final Fantasy MMO ever and all I did was download the video and got emailed a code. It even says download the video for a chance for a beta invite.

That argument goes both ways though. Having PS+ and a PS3 I didn't ever expect to buy a Vita, but when a good deal came up I couldn't help but jump on it solely because I already had games to play on it. If I hadn't been able to "stash" some of those games I would have been a lot less inclined to buy it. The PS4 is going to be the same way, for me at least, where if I have at least some titles it's going to make the system more appealing a lot sooner. With no backwards compatibility that's a big incentive to make your long term customer feel appreciated and that it's worth moving to the new system. You also have to factor in that at E3 they were talking about a very small number of PS4 games being available over the entire first year and if at least some of them end up as "non-premium" versions there's far less harm done by letting your paying customers stash these games (further securing their ongoing paying presence in your business model) then blocking them. It would be an absolute PR and customer perception disaster from a company that's surging ahead based on it's new consumer friendly policies.

But you wouldn't have felt compelled to buy the Vita earlier if you knew you wouldn't be able to redeem the games? I guess I'm just saying this from my own point of view. If I can stockpile the free PS4 games, I can wait on getting the PS4 for awhile. If I knew I couldn't get the games unless I had a PS4, then I'd be much more likely to buy the console at or near launch.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/06/16/the-drop-week-of-june-17th-2013-new-releases/

Here's The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two (PS Vita) – In Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, gamers will play as Mickey Mouse and for the first time ever, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit — Walt Disney’s first cartoon star — in an all-new adventure of creativity and discovery. The game returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions.

Now, Mickey and Oswald must join forces as true partners — Mickey with his magical paint brush that wields paint and thinner, and Oswald with his powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity. Unleash the power of creativity in an epic battle to save this magical world of Wasteland and change it forever in this heroic adventure!

Jak and Daxter Collection (PS Vita) – The Jak and Daxter Collection features all three best-selling PlayStation 2 classic hits — Jak and Daxter, Jak II and Jak 3 — fully remastered in high definition. This collection follows fan-favorite Jak and his sidekick Daxter through a series of action-packed adventures. The Jak and Daxter Collection blends action, shooting, driving, and platforming into one complete PS Vita package.

Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard – In Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, videogame action hero Matt Hazard gets his chance to prove once and for all that he is the king of shooters when the new owner of mega game publisher, Marathon Megasoft, gives Matt his comeback role starring in a new title for next-gen consoles that pits him against all of his memorable foes from videogames past. In the world of Eat Lead, however, everything stops being a game and becomes reality when it is clear that someone is using the new game to bring about Matt’s death once and for all. With only the mysterious QA to help him, Matt must fight against a legion of Marathon Megasoft catalogue of videogame characters to keep it from being Game Over forever.

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams – Fluffy clouds and rainbows – what a nightmare! Being trapped in a lollipop world infuriates Giana, driving her to smash everything in her path… but the walls between dreams are thin. A tenebrous boneyard lurks just beyond the veil, soothing Giana’s temper and lightening her step.

Project Giana is a phantasmagorical platformer with contrasting themes. Twist one dream into another at will to transform the world and Giana, putting an array of world-warping tricks at your fingertips.

Storm – Manipulate wind, rain, lightning and snow to solve puzzles at your own pace, interacting with lush landscapes in each of the seasons to lead a seed to a new, happy home. Explore nature’s beauty or simply enjoy the ambiance as you float, blow and bounce a seed to the perfect place to take root.

Demos
  • Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
  • NCAA Football 14
PlayStation 2 Classic

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence – Konami’s famed vampire hunting series makes its debut on the PlayStation 2 with Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. It tells the story of the Belmont family’s first encounter with the dark lord Dracula, and connects the lineage of previous Belmont adventurers. Gameplay blends the series’ trademark 2D whip-cracking and platforming elements with a new detailed 3D environment.

Corvette Evolution GT – Evolution GT is a racing game that gives the player the opportunity to experience the life of a real racing driver, and the evolution of his alter ego throughout the course of his career. By choosing appropriate race tactics and driving styles, and placing well in the races, the player will grow in his ability to compete at an ever-higher level, gaining access to new racing cars as well as roadsters, coupès and eventually dream cars such as the Bugatti EB110 and the Pagani Zonda.

I need to stop telling people how long it takes me to complete games because apparently I play them hours more than anyone else haha. Which is weird cause i'm not dying a lot or anything. I guess I'm just slow :p

Nope, because the only game that's out there that I would have to have a physical copy of is Persona 4. That and I didn't actually realize how nice the system itself was until I actually had it in my hands. I get what you're saying and I think that's what they've probably been wrestling with internally since it goes both ways, I still think that if you "own" games for a system that still makes you almost a guaranteed sale even if it's a year or two down the road. I think, or at least hope, that Sony's finally getting it and realizing that those kind of things make a difference. Most people won't be early adopter after all and I would be really curious to know what percentage of PS+ members have over a year of active time left. It's usually that second and third holiday season when I console starts to to find it's stride and who knows what Microsoft or Nintendo will do in that interim so my personal perspective is that it's better to have that leverage in the buying decision when you want them to have this box for 10 years now.

Anyway, it's really too bad they didn't do some sort of reverse cross buy with the Jak Collection for Vita where you could have gotten the PS3 version too. I would actually rather have them on the Vita, seems like a perfect fit, but at the same time $10 is more appealing than $30.

That is partially what caused me to finally seek out a PSP after never thinking I would get one, I started accumulating a backlog of PS+ psp games, which caused me to buy the system and purchase a mess of other PSP games on sale on PSN I never would have otherwise.

Just like now I am accumulating vita games through PS+ so I am almost guaranteed to pick one up eventually, probably when they do a hardware revision.

Anyone hear what J&D will cost? I am hoping for $20.

Unfinished Swan - YAY or NAY?

Crossing my fingers for cross-buy for some of those new Drops
Big NAY for me, and I usually enjoy different gaming experiences. Perhaps I didn't click with it at the time, but for whatever reason, the game was a big turn off for me.

I always wanted a PSP but there was never enough stuff to justify it for me. I got rather excited when I realized the other night that I can get the Patapon games off PSN and they'll work on Vita.

Haven't heard about the PSN version but it's probably going to be $30 like the retail release.
