What games is it pretty similar to gameplay-wise?
Everyone can call me crazy but of all the 3D platformers I can think of I think it's actually closest to Psyconauts in terms of how it plays. Very, very different games as a whole but I think the two have the closest parallels in the genre with the way levels operate, how you move through the world, the general mix of comabt, etc. Just keep in mind that Psychonauts is a masterpiece where Alice can be upolished and aggrevating at moments while still being brilliant and beautiful.

Alice is of a genre that doesn't get much entries. I'd say Psychonauts is a good comparison, depsite the content and tone differences. The combat is sort of Zeldaish, but the main focus is on platforming around the unique areas mainly. Maybe a bit like the earlier DMC 1 when the series had a bit more exploration to it.

Is anyone else getting error playing arcade in Tekken Revolution? The ranked matches worked today/nite but when I tried arcade I got "can't upload data error." It stole like four arcade coins throughout the day and night :whistle2:(

Yeah, as a whole there isn't a great 1:1 comparison like you can make with a lot of 3D platformers where the inspiration is obvious.

I had the same reaction to Knights in the Nightmare, but for the PSP. I love srpgs, and after reading all good things about it, I was looking forward to playing the game. But try and try, I just couldn't continue playing it. I came back to it twice more, and the end result was the same for me. I'm glad others like that game. I thought the art direction was good.
knights in nightmare would been A LOT BETTER if they told you what weapons the people can equip. its a pain in the ass having no idea who can equip what

I wanted The Force Unleashed 2 for $5.. but 11GBs? DX mortal kombat was 10 and the entire download/install process was over 3 hours.. >_> maybe I'll just settle for the demo. I hear it sucked anyway. With my backlog I wouldn't play it until 2025 anyway.
If waiting for a huge download is a problem for you, you can download in the background before you go to bed. Then go all the way to the left on the xmb. Click on the turn off button. Make sure the turn off after downloads are completed box. Turn your tv off. When you wake up, all of your downloads will be downloaded and installed.

Getting the Lego games.
Is war in the north just mindless hack and slash? Decent gameplay? Story? Level ups?

Thought about Alice and star wars. They're cheap but I don't need more games I won't play.

Two worlds II was $5 months ago and I haven't touched it.
I got Alice and some Lego games. I'm more on the fence of the Atlus games. I have a lot of RPGs that I haven't touched including Two Worlds II.

it's awesome

plays like a mashup of ghosts n goblins + binding of isaac

the whole time i've been playing i keep thinking about how awesome it'd be on vita
I'm a bit late but thanks for your impressions! I'll be looking forward to starting on it.

And yeah I will probably agree with you on the vita part. There are tons of indies that I've been playing on pc or android and keep thinking how awesome it would be for my vita. Stealth Bastard coming soon for vita is one great indication of that.

I went for knights in the nightmare over class of heroes. Although I've had knights for PSP and DS.. I never got far. Gonna try again. :/ I still am sorta confused with the battle system but keep hearing that once you get it, the difficulty falls apart.

It's starting to feel like my entire backlog of console games are Atlus RPGs right now. I just ordered a used copy of Code of Princess and Dragons Crown will be here in a month to throw on top of it all.

Ducktales is releasing August 13th on PSN. I'm excited, a retail version was also announced for the PS3 for $20, I'll probably just get that.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/11/ducktales-remastered-given-a-release-date?abthid=51dedbb7ba5375e72400000f

EDIT:

Additionally, a boxed version of the game for PlayStation 3 including a download code and an exclusive DuckTales collector pin will launch at retail on Aug. 20.
Maybe I won't buy the retail version if it's just a code in a box. Lame.

I've still got Skyrim, both Dragon Age games, Ni No Kuni, Tales of Graces f, and Persona 4 (Vita). I always get afraid to start an RPG, because that's when I start living in filth and eating horribly, never see any friends, stop answering my phone, stop working out, and start sleeping like crap.

But damn, do I love me some RPGs. ;)

Darn, I was hoping they were going to finally announce the final DVD volume of Ducktales in conjunction with the release of the game as cross-promotion, but that dashes my hopes.

Yeah my problem is that I get 80% of the way through then never finish them. Or I get four or five hours in, realize I've made a horrible choice or that I hate my character or just want to try a different one and end up starting over until I've lost interest. Or I stop for a day or two which then turns into a week or two and realize that so I try to finish it but then can't remember what's going on or what I was supposed to be doing or half the nuances so I quit again with the intention of starting over from scratch again one day which never happens. That's why I barely play them anymore, despite the majority of my game backlog being RPGs, because just trying to start one brings about this huge amount of anxiety.

Oh god...I've down that with so many of my rpgs it's not even funny anymore. Literally 80% at least of my backlog are all rpgs. I've been burning through all my shorter games of other genres for the same reasons as you haha.

Exactly. It's like "Oh I've got Infinite/Ni No Kuni/Valkryia Chronicles/Disgaes 3 & 4/Etrian IV/etc. sitting here waiting to be played but I want to experience those so badly I don't want to leave them half-finished. So instead I'll go play yet another game of Battlefield/Sports Game X or even better start some mediocre to bad game instead of playing a piece of art!"

WOW so I'm not the only then. :grouphug:  I have nothing but RPGs and AAA games in my backlog but I always go for the RPG. No matter how good the game is I never finish them. I do want to go back and finish Tales of Grace f, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 Golden. Right now I'm just going through my Vita backlog.

I think Sony and Valve are double teaming our wallets with their cash hungry tentacle monsters on purpose.

There's a reason I haven't bought Graces yet and haven't pre-ordered Xillia.

I know the feeling of wanting to preserve works of arts until there's nothing worth playing anymore.
The thing is though that it's becoming clear looking at just my Steam library that I'm going to be long dead before I even touch most of them if I don't get out of these bad habits.

Is Sony releasing new PS1 classics?
Or are they only releasing PS2 classics moving forward?

Thanks.
They should still be releasing PS1 games, or at least I haven't heard any news stating otherwise. The most recent PS1 classic releases that I can remember were somewhere around 4-6 weeks ago.

Speaking of Steam, this is my first Steam sale where I'm REALLY being careful about impulse buying anything or getting a bunch of cheap games. I'm limiting myself to just a few purchases. Gotta stop feeding my addiction lol.

Though it is still exciting to be a part of it and see all the deals that pop up. Especially when I have a friend who just built his pc. So I can throw him a few cheap gifts too.

Yeah, that's why I just bought a Steam wallet card this year and then the little bit I have sitting in PayPal is my "Oh snap that's unexpected" emergency fund. So far so good as it's kept me to just a two-pack of Don't Starve where I would have splurged on things otherwise. At the same time though having just the cards to spend didn't stop me from dropping $90 on PSN the last three or four weeks.

Count me in that group too. This sounds really nerdy, but I've started writing notes to myself about what part in the story I am at and what little nuances I want to remember from combat, etc. when it's been a few days since I've played an RPG. It actually makes it easier to jump back in whenever I get back to it. Of course this doesn't work with digital ones :p

Haha That actually sounds like a great idea. I always loved the rpgs that either gives you a short recap when you load your save or you can read plot points in the menu to catch up. The Tales series are great about that second one.

I'm the same way as you guys but I don't really play RPGs. It took my 2 years to complete Uncharted 2 even when it was one of my first games. I have maybe 30ish games, and only like 10 of those can I call finished.

With such great CAG deals all the time, I don't feel bad about not finishing games, I'm not a trophy hunter or collection fiend.  In the last couple years, I've played >30 games and can only remember finishing three all the way through: Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs and Dishonored.  I lose interest in the middle of most games, I don't see myself returning to finish any of them.

There is one game I play the multiplayer at least once a week, usually more and never get tired of, bought it day one - Crash Commando.  For some reason, it just clicks with me like no other game ever has, it helps that I'm very good at it too.

I beat 95% of the games I play.  I don't platinum them or go all out for the 100% unless it's relatively easy or I love the games.

But the only games I don't finish are the ones that stop being fun for me.

backlog. ugh.

i just spent around 20 minutes trying to find games to delete off my 500gig ps3 because i'm out of space.

tons of backlog.  SO much.  and... it's so hard to delete anything.  hell, i have a folder with like 35 demos i downloaded and i have a hard time even deleting them because they're like 'placeholders' to remind me about games.

i have the same issue with rpgs as some of you.  they're my favorite genre, but i always end up playing something else instead due to time constraints.

or, worse, i spend my time on gaming forums or buying games instead of playing games.  OH WAIT.

Just put the sticky right on the screen!

Dang guess im different. Regardless of what game genre it is. If I start it I HAVE to finish it. Its like pausing a movie and never finishing it in a sense, and I cant do that lol. As for backlogs I guess mine is very minor compared to all of y'alls. I refuse to buy games for PC therefore I have none which is where alot of CAGS have the majority of their backlog. I have maybe a 50 game backlog and I have stopped buying games the last two months. Just a game here and there about once a month. :)

Want to add that I really like tokyo jungle mobile. Worth a measly $3. :D

Interesting news about Ducktales Remastered:

Life is like a hurricane, as Capcom today announced that DuckTales: Remastered will officially release from this August on all major platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. In North America, the game will be available for digital download on August 13 (on PSN, Nintendo eShop on Wii U and PC), with an XBLA version launching September 11. Additionally, on August 20, a boxed version (with download code and exclusive DuckTales Disney collector’s pin) will be offered on PlayStation 3 at retailers across the country.DuckTales: Remastered is priced at $14.99 for the digital version and $19.99 for the retail version on PS3.
Sounds like it may be a candidate for this year's PSN Play with that XBLA delay.

I agree with the others that this is a good idea. It's no nerdier than having stacks of graph paper around for charting dungeons.

I've been trying to be good about sticking to at most two games at a time, but I still find myself drifting to try the new game I shouldn't have bought just because it was on sale. Only game I've replayed is inFamous because I was curious about the evil story and saw I could get the plat easy enough with that. And it was pretty dang fun.

I'm getting rid of a huge chunk of my JRPGs because I know I'll probably never get to them.  Being a trophy whore doesn't help either since I spend way more time on games than I did before trophies.

Also, awhile ago, I made a conscious decision to not stop playing a game until I'm done with it since I almost never go back to finish it up.

This is exactly what I started to do about 2 months ago. There have definitely been times since then that I've gotten to the "meh I'll stop playing this for awhile and pick it up later" point but I forced myself to finish them. It's been making me feel better about myself and my backlog lol. I suggest everyone do the same.

What is this PSN Play you speak of?

Rom City Rampage is coming to the PS3 and Vita versions of Retro City Rampage soon, which is a remake that makes the game work within the actual limitations that an NES game would have to deal with.
