the fact the update is that size, but several of the costumes are less than 1MB:rofl:

The costumes are in the update. What you're downloading are unlock codes.
this. My rarest trophy is apparently for getting a streak in Dj Hero 2 Vocal Mode, which requires virtually no skill
Yeah, I'm similar. My 3 rarest trophies are from the Comet Crash DLC which apparently nobody owns. 4th rarest is from Quantum Conundrum, which I assume has that boost that Akarik mentioned earlier.

As far as I can tell, each update replaces the previous one. So this updated has all the content from all previous updates, plus this new minor fix.

How mentality prepared should I be if I want to start playing Demon's Souls? Perhaps wait for the week when work is not as taxing?

well that's a pretty lousy way to do updates *see, first several years of PS3 updating*

It makes it easier for everybody to be able to see or use DLC than having to download each of the compatibility packs that some games use instead.

I guess, but it still seems like a pain, especially for those with small memory cards. But I don't know a ton about how updating works on the technical sides, so maybe it's easier for devs

The first time I played the game, it took me close to 8 hours to beat the first level - mostly because I was trying to parry everything (don't do that). Just go into it knowing that you're going to die... a lot.

Of course, with the wealth of information about the game out there now, it should go much faster, but it's still going to be somewhat brutal until you get used to the game mechanics and fighting style.

I picked up the original Tomb Raider, and once you get past the dated (yet surprisingly functional) control scheme, it's pretty danged fun! If I finish this game on Vita this week I'll probably pick of the next one.
Ragnarok Odyssey was actually a lot of fun as a multiplayer game. The release adds very little to the original game(it's more like a DLC) though so I don't see the point in dipping in again if you already played the original but if you didn't and are interested, I can see waiting for this version being a good idea given it actually makes it to the states.
Are you sure? Because the linked article sure reads more as sequel/full expansion more than just 'some dlc'.

i'm finding some of the ps1 classics to be near unplayable (Resident Evil: Directors Cut being a perfect example).

RE: First time with Demon's Souls.

Just don't worry about it. It's not nearly as hard as it's reputation. Just play it and enjoy it. Don't sweat dying, it's not a big deal.
Hell yes. I've been dreaming of a new LoK game for years and years (even though I thought Definace was a near perfect ending). I know that Amy Hennig was a critical part in this series, but I'm not sure she's irreplaceable. I am hoping that with the success Square is having with reboots lately (Tomb Raider, Deus Ex) that they consider doing the same here. Obviously I'd prefer a new main entry to a reboot, but I'm not sure that's realistic since the game always had kind of a small following to begin with.
Dang I had the first and second, but never finish the last game. I still have it somewhere around, but with the backlog I dunno if I will get to it :whistle2:#

Just take your time and enjoy this fantastic game. It's all about trial and error and not giving up. The wiki's are helpful if you need further details on how the World Tendencies work or any other questions.

Enjoy the game, focus on your actions and do not rush.
If you want to take it a little bit more easy on your first run choose Royal Class. I did that and it was a great experience, for my second run I will go Barbarian Class (one of the hardest to start up a new game).

So, played about an hour of the Rainbow Moon demo tonight. It isn't too bad, but I don't know if it is $9 good. I think I have other games that can scratch that itch on my PC that didn't cost that much. And yes, the English is a bit wonky at times.

"Near" is the operative adverb, RE and TR are both playable, they just require (IMO too much) patience to handle them. So glad we moved out of tank controls in the 3D games industry!

so how long do I really need to set aside for Demon's Souls? I wasn't planning on starting yet, but everyone talking about it makes me want to try it so I have something to say. If this is accurate though, I'll have to wait until I beat some other games first, or risk my backlog eating me alive
Are you sure? Because the linked article sure reads more as sequel/full expansion more than just 'some dlc'.
That's just the publisher inflating what's actually new in the game. Here's a pretty detailed list.

http://gematsu.com/2013/04/ragnarok-odyssey-aces-new-features-detailed

In a nutshell, it's one new boss, one new dungeon, some new skills, new art for the same classes, a few new weapons. Most of the extra content comes after the the ending as a part of "post game content" which DLC and stuff were all already included in US vita release anyway on launch.

Really not very much stuff. It's a port with a handful of added content, it's not an expansion or a sequel at all.

That seems about right. But honestly, most of the time just comes from replaying the same area that you've died over and over again in order to figure out a way past it.

It's a completely different story depending on if you're looking to Platinum or not. It took me around a month of casual playing to Plat it, but if you're putting in the time and are a quick learner, it shouldn't be too bad.

I understand the backlog stuff too. I just picked up Atelier Rorona and realized that my entire backlog is liable to collapse while I'm in the process of beating it.

If you want to make Demon's Souls easier, keep your shield up, wait for the enemy to attack, then attack. Only take on one enemy at a time if you can. Always keep your shield up. Always.

I don't know if it's the port to PS3 or the original port from PSP to PS2, but Liberty City Stories kind of runs like crap. It's still pretty fun though, just not very smooth.

aww hells ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you kindly !

Advancing through the backlog some, finally getting to MGS. I've got the PS1 Classic, been playing it on my Vita. Is there any significant difference between MGS HD collections for the PS3 and Vita as far as performance / bugginess of the ports? I know the Vita/PSP route will end up more expensive, as I'll have to buy Peace Walker separately, but that's not a real concern as I'll probably space things out between games.

Most interested in the experience.

Is walking dead going to be cross play? Already bought the season pass for PS3. Would LOVE to replay the game on the vita at work again (even though its the same thing...).

I'm betting it's not. Surely that game has sold so well that most Vita players would be getting it free making it not worth the investment. Personally, I wasn't enthralled with the game so I only played the first two episodes free from PS Plus, but I might be willing to buy it for Vita at the right price.

I don't see where or even why you think it sold well enough that most or even a lot of Vita users have got it, but making it a cross buy wouldn't hurt the title. You seem to think PS3 sales would affect Vita sales, when in reality it would work the other way. Like I am sure the game is great, but I doubt I would rebuy it to play through again on the Vita. However, giving me the option of both would get more supporters, where as keeping it single would result in less, because there is less incentive.

I assumed it was/is a very popular game that sold well on PSN. Therefore, if people already own it for PS3, they would automatically get it free on Vita if it was made to be cross-buy. I believe there are virtually no Vita owners who do not also own a PS3. Perhaps I am assuming too much and it didn't sell as well as I thought. Or perhaps I am assuming too much about how a cross-buy version would work when released for Vita. Yes, I agree that cross-buy would entice more people to buy it (including me), so maybe there are a lot more people out there similar to myself than I realized. I assumed I was one of the last few potential purchasers on the planet that hasn't purchased Walking Dead on some platform. :)

i don't know how many people would rebuy it for vita if they've already beat it on ps3, so i think crossbuy might help sales for those on the fence. i'm target audience, love the comic, love the show, love gaming... but still haven't picked it up yet for some reason.
Id pick it up for vita if the price is right and we have a new set of trophies. Hopefuly more complex ones.
Like plants vs zombies for the vita it had new trophies.:)

I really don't think Walking Dead is going to be cross-buy, but I think they should try to work in a cross-save feature if at all possible.

Has there been any cross-buy games yet where the PS3 version was released before the Vita version?

did i seriously just miss a sale on Skyfighters after waiting forever for it to go on sale? Ugh.

anyone here play it? review? i have no idea how i missed it being on sale last month, it's not like i'm not paying attention and reading this thread.
wasn't R&C full frontal assault one?
Nope. The game was always intended to be a day 1 PS3/Vita game (as per the boxart), but it later got delayed (hence the sticker on the packaging) and has since been really delayed.

Hustle Kings
Stardrone/Extreme
Street Fighter X Tekken DLC
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom DLC
Wipeout HD/Fury with Wipeout 2048
Zen Pinball 2

^Still, I highly doubt WD will be cross-buy. Which sucks, because I think its type of "gameplay" is suited best on a portable platform (hence its success on iOS).

Question about Demon's Souls for those that have played it. How can you tell if someone's invaded your world? Does it notify you, or do you only know when you see them? Also is there anyway to turn this off other than staying offline?

It tells you (you also can't leave the level unless you die or make it to the boss gate first). The only way to keep invaders from coming in without going offline is to play in soul form. Soul form gives you half HP but you can find a ring in the very first level that brings that up to 75% health. I played the entire game in soul form so it's not that big of a deal.

If I'm correct you get a message notifying you that someone have invade your world, and to prevent others from invading your world without getting offline, just stay as a ghost.

The game will say something like "A phantom has invaded your realm" in red text and you will NOT be able to fight the boss till they leave or die. If I recall correctly, the game will say something like "you can not progress till you deal with the hostile spirits" or something to the effect at the boss gate.

As far as avoiding them, I believe being a spirit prevents them from joining. (kill yourself in the Nexus or whatever) Though it has been a while... I will say that they're fairly uncommon at a really low level and a really high level, since most people have a PVP build at 100 or thats how it use to be. I wouldn't worry about it, the game is so old that there probably aren't a lot of people anyway.

Edit:

Upon looking it up Gettinmoney is right, but I distinctly recall having paths blocked off or at least not being able to make it to the boss gate. In either case, disregard that bit.
