I hate when I see someone post that they have a huge list of shit they want from PS+. If you want that game, just fucking buy it.

I just launched Dokuro for the first time on my Vita and it's just frozen on some loading screen. Can't turn off the vita, and the screen won't wipe. If this thing ruins my screen with burn-in I'm gonna be pissed. Plus I'm gonna have to wait until the battery dies for this thing to even turn off.

lol just hold down the power button

I've restarted it before, but it wouldn't even do that. I held it down for about two minutes and never shut off or went to the recovery menu like before.

Thankfully my vita was low battery and it just shut off on its own and when I plugged it in it restarted itself. Still weird because that's never happened before.

I think the point breakfuss and others, including myself, are tying to make, is that single player campaigns rarely suffer from the addition of multiplayer. All the games breakfuss listed have amazing SP and MP in most people's opinions. Take a game like Bioshock 2. The MP is vastly considered to be garbage, but the game still has an 88 on Metacritic because it's SP was very well received. In my opinion, this game was the perfect example of jumping in on the MP bandwagon. The MP was developed by an entirely different team, had ZERO effect on the SP, and the results speak for themselves. Show me one game where there is concrete evidence that the addition of MP means the SP suffered or was lacking.
I never said the single player would suffer. I never even said that the multiplayer would take away from the single player. I agree with you that it is usually a separate part of the budget for a game. However, how many times do we hear developers bitching about the budgets for games continuing to expand? My point is that if you have a proven single player franchise that sells in the multi-millions of copies, why spend the extra money on MP. Have there been rare occurrences where the MP became popular enough to help drive more sales? Sure. How many times have companies gone under because they continued to spend more than they made on games? I am pretty sure that is a lot more common.

I do not think every game should be single player. I just think if you have a loyal large fan base for a single player game it does not make financial sense to add an online mode. Save those resources to work on another IP.

Don't mind me and my idiotic assumptions though.

Are a lot of people still playing defiance?
i just got it and have been playing it all day and there are still people playing. when im doing a mission there is usually one person i see doing tje same mission and ive done probably 5 ark falls and there is always more than 15 people. i tried to play a shadow war and we needed about 15 more people for a while but that was early in the morning. i think its worth $10 bucks especially if you get someone to play with

. "The entire basis of [UC2/3, TLoU, RDR, GTA, MGS, ME3] has been a deep single player experience", yet those have competent multiplayer, no? Gah, it's like the people upset that consoles can do more than play games now. LOL, you view the broadening appeal of gaming as a crusade against tru gamrz™. Sad!
The mp in UC2/3 is/was decent. At least any co-op modes were anyway. But unless you played the competitive from day one and got really good at it you're likely to ragequit from the vets popping you in half a second from respawn. Not to mention the GTA games have issues with lag, pop-in and weird disconnects, including at least one where it views you as being kicked by the other players even though you weren't and won't let you rejoin the same game.

As for the crusade against consoles doing more than play games, I know my system can do all that extra stuff. But I have a standalone BR player/home theater for movies, not to mention I didn't like using my PS3's BR lens to play movies. I feel like the constant reading from the disc would shorten the life of it.

Don't worry, I won't mind them a bit. This is getting vastly off topic, but I'm 99% sure WB isn't going to fold due to adding this multiplayer. I can see your point for smaller studios, but when you have millions at hand and the resources to throw at a game...why not? If the previous Arkham games sold 7-9 million or whatever the numbers are, and this one sells 10, who can say it wasn't because of the multiplayer? I can't remember who posted the reasons for adding multiplayer, but as they had said they're usually to drive sales and reduce trade ins. Yes, the series sells millions already, but if adding multiplayer results in maybe an extra million or so...success.

As for money and resources used towards this, I'm willing to be its not that much more, even with the extra multiplayer. You have to remember, the first couple games probably took a lot of funds to develop or license the engine, put together the art, etc. at this point, the third game in, those things cost less since they're most likely reusing resources from the first two games.

And I'm sorry, but you did say this was completely useless and you were complaining about it like you expected it to be a gigantic stink pile. Maybe you didn't intend to, but that's how it came across.

Now lets stop pretending we all know more about game budgets than we really do and actually play some games. Or at the very least buy a few more since all our backlogs are in the quadruple digits and we don't actually play games.

Can anyone confirm that the MGS dlc for Littlebigplanet didn't go on sale during the gigantor lbp sale in June? psnstores didn't have it listed. Now that I'm finishing trophies for lbp I'm having nonbuyers regret.

Besides RPG's list, I can also confirm that it was NOT on sale, since I specifically remember pulling it up on the PSN store to see if it was on sale and clearly remember that it was not.

that's... impossible. first, there'd never be concrete evidence. second, a game that is bad that has mp might have been bad anyway. so you're just presenting impossible requirements of proof.

but to think adding additional development requirements never/rarely affects a game is silly. while i don't dev games, i've developed enough software projects to know that adding priority requirements usually happens w/o changing deadlines and often affects quality.

obviously not always. but also obviously not rarely/never.

some games will be fine/great anyway. others will get priorities shuffled.

heck, just needing to make a demo can affect the quality of game since it too requires resources.

Also, just wrapped up Clone in the Dark.  Pretty good game, I actually wish it was a little bit longer and the levels had just a tiny bit more variation.  Only had to skip over 1 level, which I was able to go back to and beat.  The difficulty felt spot on for me.  Many levels where I had to strain my brain, but never really got completely stuck or frustrated.  The ending was interesting and just a little bit different, which was nice.

I have this on Steam, so I think I'm gonna finally give it a shot after hearing it is good (hadn't heard much chatter either way). Also the trailer was pretty great ^_^ liking your mini reviews, keep it up :)

Yup. I enjoy writing reviews (like a lot of CAGs do, some professionally) but I buy brand new games very rarely, and new games are really the only ones where opinions matter. So I don't write much.

Dokuro is.....pretty average I guess. Also feels like I've been playing it for a while, but there's still half of the game left.

pj monsters -- the vita version is fantastic... but i seriously miss the co-op factor playing with my wife.  there's something missing when you aren't warbling 'go dance over there' or 'upgrade the tesla! upgrade the tesla!'.

still... the game is just plain fantastic.  my only serious issue is that the game damn well deserves a plat, not just bronzes.  i mean, c'mon.  it's a huge game with a massive amount of content, and rainbowing all levels and challenges is a big undertaking.

Spec OPs the Line is one in which a separate company was hired to shoe horn in a crappy multiplayer component because the publisher wanted it, and because it wasn't a pedigree brand name like Mass Effect or Bioshock, some reviewers DID score game down due to the inclusion of crappy multiplayer despite it having no effect on the singleplayer experience.

So for those who got HSG for PSN, there are additional Platinum Rank challenges other than just beating the final character. As expected, they are hard as hell. I hate you arrow shot.

Nice that Dragon's Crown is getting a demo but I already canceled my preorder once I read the no online chat and other janky things about that game. Will get my MP dungeon on with the Capcom D&D Collection that I already have and Diablo 3 next month.

Oh wow, The Red Star? Awesome game. And it actually has my voice in it. (No words... just sinister laugh and grunts.) I can't remember the name of the enemy type I voiced, but he has a saw on one arm and he's pretty tough.

Im gunna be honest and say i would have bought it if it had a plat trophy. Every game should now.

Agreed. I would hqve bought it if it had. Every game should from a buisness stand point, its only ever negative when it doesnt.

If this prediction doesn't come true (minus Unit 13 of course) I will come find you and murder you on principle. :twoguns:

...you better hope Sony is reading this...*

*In no way is this an actual threat to your life. Fine print is fun! :)

Just an FYI...The Red Star is a fun game, the PSP version is basically the same PS2 game and is playable on the Vita. It was $4.99 for a long time but I just checked and it's up to $14.99 now probably since the PS2 version will be released. Maybe it will drop back down though.

PS+ hmmm tough call...I guess anything I don't have right now :)

Lone Survivor for the PS3/Vita has been delayed till next month and is now being called Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut.

So what's everyone hopes for this months PS+ lineup? I'm personally hoping for Dead Island GOTY.
sony has confirmed that the games will be superman 64, ride to hell retribution, e.t., motor bike, and shaq fu. it looks like it going to be a good month lol

Cup of Noodles!

In all seriousness I'm hoping they give out AC Brotherhood or Revelations (probably not a popular pick as most people have them already), an arcade racer (preferably one of Criterion's), Catherine , or just something I don't have yet. At this point I have so many games to play that one month of not getting my favorites isn't the end of the world. Eventually they will come, and until then...backlog :whee:

Id dig an arcade racer as well aka need for speed for vita or ps3. As well as catherine, yet i really dont care how long i wait. I have a job, ill just buy what i really want to play (speaking of which the metal gear solid legacy collection is so f'n great, i just replayed metal gear , metal gear 2, and metal gear solid and they all hold up so well. Im excited to get to the pretty hd graphics x.x)

Rayman Legends comes out next month, so I think it's possible we may see Origins for PS3 or Vita as a free game in this months PS+ offerings to build up some hype.
