wishing i picked up Virtua Tennis during the recent sale. It's amazing how i don't mind spending $10 for a solid Vita game but balk at .99 cents on ipad nowadays. I've been sitting on a $15 itunes card for months now wishing it was PSN credit... 1 game vs. 15 games, and i'd take the 1 game any day of the week.

on the fence about Guacamelee.. it's getting such rave reviews, but it's not my genre of choice. I'll be picking up Soul Sacrifice day 1, so i guess that and my vita backlog will keep me. I don't understand how people can complain about the vita library either... i play it tons, yet still have a huge backlog and a ton of games i want to eventually buy.

I can't recommend it enough. I've been really hyped for Soul Sacrifice and plan on getting it day one too but Guacamelee is the perfect game to keep me entertained until the 30th.

Really, Guacamelee was a nice surprise. The platforming is really quite good and getting to some of the hidden stuff requires some unusual maneuvers like
wall jumping back and forth while switching between realities or roll + double jump + uppercut + forward fist thing
. Plus the combo teaching area shows off just how much they put in to the flexibility of it. Cool game.

interesting. Rayman was the most recent game i've plat'd, though i've been putting some time into other games like Oddworld (which isn't grabbing me) lately. Maybe Guac is where it's at. Or maybe i need to save money.

Soulllllll Sacrifice.

Also gonna jump on the Guacamelee hype train. One of the best games I have brought on PSN in ages. Hilarious and fun, and an easy plat if that helps you buy

^^ K, then, it's settled. As soon as I get this $10 (OMG where is that, btw???!!) I'm on Guacamelee. Also, anyone notice that it's almost spelled like "guacamole", lol?!?!
Any opinions on Guacamelee?
I'm a few hours in and I love it so far. Satisfying combat, pretty visuals, great soudtrack, and good humor. Wish I had a Vita to play it on.

That's the pun in the title man, it's there on purpose.

It's one of the many references/puns/allusions in the entire game.
really? a bunch of people just before me were complaining about the clutter and for good reason. also love how i'm angry because I'm suggesting using common sense. I apologize for the swears kids, daddy's not mad at you, he's just disappointed.
See? You must be quite upset to take the time to post again and call us kids and that you're our dad haha. Opinion confirmed :)

Oh...and Guacamelee! :D

Chiming in to add that Guacamelee is awesome. Almost done with my first playthrough (~6 hours in) and it's a funny, charming, colorful little adventure that I would recommend to anyone, especially Castlevania aficionados such as myself.

Really makes me want to replay SotN, so I'm probably gong to spend my $10 towards Dracula X Chronicles.

I am a huge Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow fan (for some reason most other Castlevania games are stuck in my backlog) and bought DXC for the main purpose of unlocking SotN early on and playing Rondo of Blood's remake if it's good.

The game was so horrible I still do not have the will to go and unlock SotN on just the third level. It honestly ranks in my top three of worst games I have ever played, and this isn't just based on expectations. Its gameplay is just maligned, annoying, and janky.

I definitely see where you're coming from. I played DXC awhile back and it certainly feels very dated. It feels like just a new coat of paint over the same RoB system, which for that I would just play the original and even then might still be frustrated. Certainly a step backwards by any standard. My main concern though is that the version of SotN in that package is the definite version in terms of visuals and translation.

Also, I absolutely love DoS, it's my second favorite Castlevania.

Bumping this since it seems to have gotten lost in all the Guacamelee discussion.

I really like both types of Castlevania games. The older more challenging ones that are linear and with stiff controls definitely isn't for everyone.
I think all the rave reviews for Guacamelee are because people like to say Guacamelee.

Guacamelee!!!

I'm happy too see so many cheapasses in this thread supporting the game, seems like it will put up some good sales numbers. I personally have to skip it for now, $12 is just to much to justify with my backlog.

They're going to be a big beneficiary of the cashback promotion.
It was described by as a 2.5 D metriodvania game. So don't think your getting a open.world game like AA or AC
This only makes me more excited for Blackgate! I love Metroidvania games so much, and I wish there were a lot more of them.

On that note, if anyone can recommend any on PSN, I'm listening.

This is the first time I've heard anything negative about Rondo of Blood. Like you, I loved Dawn of Sorrow, and Rondo of Blood ties it for best Castlevania in my book. That anyone even knows what PC Engine is is all thanks to this game - it single-handledly sold the console.

I'm sure you're aware, but you can change characters in the game, and if you use the little girl, it makes the game considerably easier because she is much more agile, has a double jump, and does double the damage with her boomerang attack. Don't be afraid to use her or think you're wussing out by not playing as a Belmont.

Can't think of a single one.

I'm making room on my Vita in preparation for the $10 for $50 promo funds to be released, and consequentially, for me to purchase Guacamelee while it's got a discount for Plus. I hear it's good? Or maybe that was just a rumor...

Same here, the game looks great but by the time I'll get into it, it will be probably free for PS+ members.

Knytt Underground has a huge explorable map, but doesn't feature any sort of upgrade/unlock system like SOTN or Metroid.

Outland is kinda-sorta Metroidvania-ish.

Some people think Rochard is kind of a Metroidvania, but I don't.

Oh, and apparently Guacamelee (!!!!!!) though I haven't played it.

I keep thinking of titles, but they are all on 360:cry:

Someone on a thread mentioned Dark Souls, though I don't really see the similarity.

I was going to say how pleasantly surprised I am to see how few people are on this thread bitching about not getting their $10 for every $50 spent credit yet, but then I remembered that I'm currently on this thread getting impatient for some free Guacamelee!.... :D

EDIT: And my credit just arrived! Woohoo!

Cag hard and stack those PSN dollars high my fellow cheap asses. As for me I'm off to play this Guacasomething game on my Vita that I heard might be ok.

Did anyone not like Guacamelee? I was going to get it but then saw a preview video where it had the light/dark switching mechanic like Outland (don't know what else to call it hopefully that makes sense) and it turned me off buying it right away. Is there a lot of that in the game?

Yeah, theres a pretty decent amount of doing it. Theres some points unpassable without doing it, and you'll also miss some items if you dont do it often
It's a mechanic you're given in the second half of the game. It's mostly used for traversal puzzles from what I've played so far.
Ok thanks I'll hold off on it for now assuming I can resist.

Also, just got my $10 so I'll look and see if there's anything else I want to buy and if not I'll probably end up buying it anyway.

If you want to see it for yourself, I'll be doing a stream of it this afternoon.

Woo thanks for the credit sony, but uhh did anyone hit a glitch where they got 2 messages from Sony, redeemed one and the other wasn't valid anymore after redeeming the first one, or it said it's not correct? I know I spent $100 during the period and those are my two codes. Shoot I hope I didn't mess this up, otherwise I'm gonna whine to Sony...this is merited since I only got half my reward...I guess.
