Here's the launch trailer for the first episode of Jacob Jones, which is out today for Vita for $2.99
for sure picking this up. Excited honestly. I love little vita games. I really like the idea of episodic gaming...I hope it continues.

Looks like I'll be buying a bunch of dlc...4 to be exact...

Nice. This leads to the question, will I be able to play, enjoy, and beat the DLC without having a decently leveled up character?

I beat the game when it came to Euro PS+, but I'm pretty sure my save file won't be compatible with the US game. So I'd love to play through the DLC, but will I even be able to without having a save file with a leveled up character? Does anyone know? TIA.
awesome, this is exactly what more plus games need to do.
Agreed. I'm hoping we see some discounts on a few extra Pinball Arcade tables in the next couple weeks as well, when that game hits PS+.
Sleeping Dogs DLC 50% off? Seriously? I JUST bought Year of the Snake last night for $7. -.-
A good rule of thumb is to never buy anything off PSN on a Monday. I don't buy a lot of full price stuff on PSN, but when I do I wait for Tuesday afternoon/evening to ensure that they're not part of the current week's update.

I've played both DLCs and you don't get anything from the main story. You have to make a new save file for EACH DLC. Nothing from the main story carries over into the DLC, BUTTTT if you complete the DLCs/do the missions, you unlock stuff FOR the main story.

Even the one that takes place after the main story?
Even the one that takes place after the main story?
Yep. I played Nightmare in North Point and Year of the Snake and I unlocked outfits for the main story. I thinkkkkk I heard if you play zodiac tournament, you unlock some moves for the main story. I'm not 100% sure about the zodiac tournament one though.

It would be awesome if the release date for State of Decay is true. I am a big fan of open world zombie survival simulation/RPGs. I am currently playing Dead Island Riptide, bought Project Zomboid, am participating in The Dead Linger alpha, go through any Dead Rising game that ever comes, and played a bit of Fort Zombie. Of all those, Project Zomboid and Fort Zombie have been disappointments, and the Dead Island and Dead Rising games are great, but don't have any of the simulation aspects of the likes of The Dead Linger, Project Zomboid, or Fort Zombie (such as sleeping, eating, psychological control, etc). The Dead Linger looks to be promising so far, even in it's alpha state. In addition to State of Decay, I can't wait till Dead State is released. I wish Activision hadn't canceled Dead Rush; that move pushed zombie survival game innovation back a good seven to ten years.

TLDR: I love open world zombie games. Can't wait till State of Decay is released.
Any chance Sleeping Dogs will come out with a complete edition with all dlc?
Extreme doubt. Original game considered commercial failure. Giving the game away and selling dlc is the most safe and profitable probably
Any chance Sleeping Dogs will come out with a complete edition with all dlc?
It's possible we MIGHT see a digital "complete" bundle, but I doubt you will get it + all the dlc for less than buying it all now for 50% off. Outside of that, not a chance. The game failed (hence why it was free with plus), so this is something of a last ditch effort to make money off it.
Sad that a game selling nearly 2 million copies at retail and countless more digitally is being considered a failure by people.
People don't consider it a failure, Square Enix said it was a failure.

Wrong thread? Unless missed a multiplatform announcement.

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/12/1...ys-square-enix-president/#sbOSQpBDpqq9JS5Q.99
However, Sleeping Dogs sales are not poor, clarifies Square Enix President, Yoichi Wada. On the contrary, Wada says that he sees Sleeping Dogs as a strong new I.P., and admits that, perhaps, Square Enix’s sales expectations for the game were a tad unreasonable.

“At the announcement of forecast revisions last week, we talked about Sleeping Dogs (SD) as an example of a Western title that started out slow, which seemed to provoke misunderstandings that it was suffering poor sales,” Wada said at a financial results briefing. “Let me clarify that SD is an exceptionally remarkable title that came with very high expectations and aggressive sales targets for the First Six-Month Period. Our goal might have been exceedingly high, which is what we see here in the difference in actual versus forecast sales.”

Wada says that games like Sleeping Dogs sell over long periods of time in the West, unlike games in Japan, where lifetime sales are more or less achieved within the first one or two months on the market. Wada points to 2010’s Just Cause 2 as another example of a game that sold over a long period, starting out with an initial shipment below 1 million, and eventually reaching nearly 2.5 million sold.

yup. I thought it was the best open world game, of all time. Doesn't mean SE thought they made enough money, or that we'll ever see a sequel.

edit: nvm. I guess frisky mooted me.

I've read that in the past as well as their quarterly earnings call report. Seems to me they admitted their expectations for their big three this season were unreasonable more than they called Hitman, Sleeping Dogs, and Tomb Raider all failures. Open for interpretation, I suppose.
No they initially called them failures only to "clarify" later to investors that their expectations were off.
i.e. they are failures. If expectations are not met then it's a failure, the same way a movie is considered a flop if it fails to generate enough ticket sales to meet expectations.

That said, it does not speak at all to the quality of the games. In this case all 3 games are great.

I never never ever purchase DLC, but Sleeping Dogs is such a great game, I'm considering picking up the Zodiac Tournament at least. Everything about this game is a delight (unless you're one of the haters, I guess, to each their own).

Square Enix has issues with properly budgeting an already populated and difficult AAA game market, which is why 1.75 mil for Sleeping Dogs, 2 mil for Hitman, and 3.5 mil for Tomb Raider (in less than a month!) are considered disappointments for them.

Just basically time for them to get their shit together in this market.

Bad analogy since movies don't stay in the theaters for very long, so there's no opportunity for the studios to recoup costs if it doesn't meet expectations out of the gate. Games can have a much longer tail that can make publishers with poor short-term expectations look foolish.

I've never played Sleeping Dogs before but plan to now that I have it free from PS+. I know there are 25+ DLC items available for the game, but which ones are actually single-player add-on missions/gameplay? I'm assuming there is a list of the DLC and a description of each somewhere? Just so I don't have to click through and read about each item individually on the PSN store?

For people who have played through the game and DLC, what should I buy when it's 50% off? Aren't a lot of them just skins and attribute upgrades?

he may have meant opening day sales rather then week-month. A lot of movies are considered flops 24 hours after release, or at least opening weekend. This leaves no room for word of mouth sales over the next 2 or more weeks that the movie plays.
You could also argue though, that movie sales have a second bump during the physical/digital release. Something games don't benefit from.

Thanks for the response, Furry Panda! Saves me the time and effort from pilfering through all of the outfit and XP boost DLC items.

Just went on after seeing the updated blog and got all excited, but still no Black Ops II new Uprising Map Pack add-on as listed. Maybe later on today.

Edit: Uprising map pack for Black Ops 2 will not be out until this Thursday, the 16th.

seriously considering getting Persona 3 since I've got $5 in my wallet from never pulling the trigger on R&C FFA. I wonder though if it would be better to wait for until I get a Vita and play the PSP version. Has anyone played the PS2 Classic version and care to comment on the visuals? Some games look fine, but others especially text heavy ones, can be a bit muddled.

I have such a weird relationship with DLC. Only time I've ever bought it was for Mass Effect 1/2/3 and Black Ops. These Sleeping Dogs ones are enticing, though, and seem worth it. Especially if these include the one you need to max out the triad xp.

Looks like the same price on Sleeping Dogs DLC as the PS+ Square sale back in march, now I can pick up the rest I didn't get last time.

Glad to see the Enslaved DLC drop, still gotta get that plat, and now I can get 100%.
