I just finished up the third/last chapter of Dragon Fantasy Book I and now I'm looking forward to Book II later this year. They do a good job of mixing it up with the third chapter since you're controlling a thief that has to complete a few jobs for the thieves guild to earn enough money to get passports so he and his niece can move. In towns, you can pickpocket people for some extra cash along with having a steal move in battle to get herbs and antidotes since you'll need plenty of them without a reliable healing spell to replenish health. His niece is your one party member and she has some awesome moves that let her do Hit All attacks that never miss, so you can just steal with Jerald and do damage with his niece without running into much trouble.

I'll move onto the Minecraft chapter next.

PS1 games look best on the Vita in my book due to how blowing up that PS1 resolution to your large TV is less than flattering. The OLED on the Vita screen makes the game look a bit sharper and more colorful. I remember starting FF9 on my PS3 and then immediately transferring the save over to my Vita and never looking back.

All of this Resident Evil talk reminded me I have a spare RE2 code from the anthology. It's unused but it might be expired.
I've always felt bad for RE5. I think Capcom really tried too hard with it, and that made a lot of people angry. I thought it was a fun game. I played co op and alone. I feel like if RE4 wasn't considered to be so good, 5 would have had a bit of a warmer reception. It also came out in that time period where developers though every game had to have multiplayer...oh wait, that's still happening.
The locations was so boring for me and zombies shooting stuff was a bad move imo. I liked gameplay tho.

Good to hear. I am towards the end of Ogden's chapter..just beat
Biggs and got the jail key in the castle where I should get the Hero's Sword
.

I remember you mentioning how short the 2nd chapter is. How long was the 3rd?

RE5 was a stepback from the amazing RE4, but it still was fun at least and doesn't deserve as much hate as it gets. RE6 on the otherhand..

So, so, so true. I prefer them even on the PSP over the PS3. Huge difference.

The third chapter was about four hours and the Minecraft bonus chapter was about two hours, so that's about 14-15 hours total.
Thanks for the info. Do you know if the Wii reissue of RE1 is as good as the Gamecube version? I think they call it archives.

I don't remember them removing anything and I believe all they added was a new control scheme for the Wii. I also think you could still play it with the GameCube controller, but I am unsure if that is correct since not has been a few years since Inplayrd the Wii rerelease.
I forgot they rereleased it for the Wii, but yeah that version can use the gamecube controller just fine and it has the same contents. There's also a Wii version of Resident Evil Zero if you want to try that too.

i do have to give credit to capcom for trying to modernize RE into a run-n-gun game from a stop-n-pop......at least the game is somewhat less frustrating now that you can move and shoot at the same time without being a sitting duck
but RE6 still has other issues with control and difficulty, but thats another story....

The problem was RE5 just wasn't scary. At all. 4 had great tension. First time Leon gets killed with the chainsaw I freaked. I was genuinely scared during some parts of that game. 5 didn't have that. And anyone who says that the way they went with the series (3rd person, over the shoulder, moving and shooting, etc) led it away from horror has obviously not played Dead Space.

Can't wait for the RE sale. I like RE6 allot for what it is, an action shooter and I'm enjoying the Mercenaries mode. (been playing RE since the start)
Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, eh? Tempted, but I hope there is a way you can get peoples edits onto it.
try researching on fire pro club.
Have to say that Soul Sacrifice is growing on me. Just finished the part with Soltiara (the tutorial maybe?) and it isn't bad as a quick instance monster fighter (not so much hunter since its right there in that tiny zone). Played a 4 person fight online to take down Jack O Lantern again and it was fun. I respect the depth the game has with different loadouts and options between fights and the storytelling through the book contains small graphical pleasures that make it neat. While wiping gunk out of the books eye is less satisfying, I would have preferred a larger story minus the short spurts (as I can always hit the ps button to suspend a game like this on the vita) it is fun even without a health bar over the target or numbers for what my spells are even doing.

I don't know if its a preorder but its a solid $20, maybe $30 game.
I've been enjoying the game a ton also.

Usually I hate third person action games on the Vita, for some reason this one has me hooked.

I had not even considered buying Soul Sacrifice until I played the Demo. Now I pre-ordered it and can't wait to play full retail. Already put 40hr into the demo... I'm so hooked I even considered importing the red Japanese exclusive SS vita. Maybe I will someday.

The gameplay controls are solid. It has a little infamous feeling to it, specially the throwing offerings.

The story so far is great. Has a Demon Soul/Nier atmosphere vibe. I read there is multiple paths depending on who you sacrifice and who you keep alive. I plan to have one char do all sacrifice (lv1/lv99) then make another and go all revive (lv99/lv1).

I like the fact the maps are big enough for a large combat but not huge in that you have to do a lot of pointless running. This a silly comparison but map wise Soul Sacrifice is to Monster Hunter what Call of Duty is to Battlefield.

I honestly have a hard time figuring out what I don't like about this game. Everything about it is great so far. The voices over sound like its done in Europe, and sometimes a bit out of sync. Nothing major. Specially if you get the JP audio by preordering. Online function sometimes have network error, but that is something that can be patched, although is not that bad an issue. Usually occur when you leave a group and immediately try to search for another. I've played over 50 matches online. I wish voice chat wasn't limited to friends invite only. But then again I rather not hear strangers bitching when I sacrifice them... muahaha.

I would say give the game a try. By that I mean that you do the entire story section, unlock multiplayer. Play about 2-3 matches (Try avoid Cerberus until you familiar with game mechanic). If you don't like it at that point then the game is obviously not for you. I met so many people playing the demo that just bough a vita to play SS and don't regret it. I hope you guys enjoy it. The better it sales the more likely for a sequel, at this point I'm drooling for anything SS.

i never understood the "can't move and shoot complaints" considering the games were never balanced for that before.

i mean, it's neat that they implemented it in 5 and 6 and balanced the gameplay a bit more for it, but that didn't make those games even close to as good as 4.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013...soul-calibur-broken-destiny-free-for-members/

Here's the PS+ update for this week:
This week, PS Plus members can download one of the most full-featured portable fighters in history: Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny. It’s also week 3 of Spring Fever, which means a new indie title — Thomas Was Alone (with a launch week discount for PS Plus members) and a Resident Evil franchise sale. Read on, and let us know what you think in the comments.

April 23rd PlayStation Plus Update

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (PSP, Supported on PS Vita)

PSN Price: $39.99, Free for PS Plus members

Battle as one of many returning Soul Calibur favorites, each enhanced with tuned balancing, new moves and animations. Play the dedicated single player game mode: Trials, developed exclusively for this Soul Calibur outing and evolved versions of classic game modes like The Gauntlet and Versus. Blow away your competition using finely tuned and enhanced battle mechanics including critical finishes, Soul Crushes and equipment destruction and unleash devastating combos. And don’t forget, you can play as Kratos!

SPRING FEVER – Thomas Was Alone (PS3 and PS Vita – Cross Buy Enabled)

20% Discount for PS Plus members (PSN Price: $9.99; PS Plus Price: $7.99)

A unique puzzle platformer arrives this week with Thomas Was Alone. Perhaps a distant cousin to Sound Shapes; it may look fairly basic, but if you’ve ever wondered how a game could make you care about characters that are represented fairly simply (via shapes), but have an intriguing level of depth to them backed up with strong writing, great sound design, and personality out the ears, you need to check out Thomas Was Alone.

This week’s Spring Fever franchise sale brings you a ton of titles from the Resident Evil series. Nearly all of the major entries in the series are here at a discounted price; with PS Plus members netting the best discount at up to 65% off the regular price. I'd like to point out that Amazon is doing release date delivery for Soul Sacrifice which is rare for a Vita game.

They also have the little pre-order bonuses as well which isn't as interesting the actual prospect of getting the game on its release date as a physical copy.

I had considered just downloading the game from PSN but I just placed the order with Amazon instead.

edit - looking at the prices, I think I'll pick up RE1(wasn't PS+ when it was offered for free), RECV and the RE chronicles games. Kind of disappoiinted they weren't bundled together for a better price but it's hard to complain about for both for less than $15.

yea, i think they got map size just right in Soul Sacrifice. Taking the baddest demo boss - Cerebus - as an example, if you need to run off to a recharge station at the beginning of the map you can get there and back really quickly, giving the map a sense of scope yet not making back tracking a 5 minute run. The main arena has enough room for a gigantic boss and 4 players to run about just fine, balancing scale, freedom, and fun just right.

I even enjoy redoing battles a ton -- trying for better scores/rewards is always fun, and never feels grindy.

They nailed it with SS. Hopefully the buying public agrees, I'd really love this to be a huge success.

Do the Resident Evil light gun games have added content to their Wii counterparts a la House of the Dead: Overkill? I'm also thinking about the PS1 classics despite having them all on Dreamcast. Has anyone played them on Vita?

What are the chances that the Resident Evil bundles go on sale as well? I am talking about RE HD bundle in particular that contains RE 4HD and CVX. It would only be a slight savings over buying them separately, but hey, every penny counts.

EDIT: I read over the PLUS update again and noticed this wording. "Check the PlayStation Store update tomorrow for the full list." So there are other add-ons and such available as well. Hopefully the HD bundle is included

Would have considered some of the RE 6 and/or ORC DLC if they had included it in the sale, oh well.

Since I know what I'm buying this week, now the question is to spend the left over $10 in my wallet today on China Town Wars (kind of interested in it) or wait until next weeks sale to see if there is anything worth picking up. $15 or less for the entire R&C collection would be my buy price, other than that I'm not sure if much will be on sale next week I either want or don't already have.

Anyone have any ideas other than the HD collections (Sly, Jak, R&C) and PSASBR (and its DLC) of what will be on sale next week?

I agree with this.

As for the PS+ update, I'll probably consider both the RE light gun games for half off. Kind of sucks that they didn't get a full set of trophies like Dead Space Extraction did, considering they're all ports of full games on the Wii.

Well that's lazy Capcom though - RE4 HD and CVX HD got the same shitty/lazy treatment.

At least Okami HD got a full trophy set I guess.

Get a list of every single character in the game, search for their franchises on the web PS Store, and there's your possible list of everything that could be on sale. If you want a bigger list, feel free to add all of the other references made in the game. ;) It's not much of a different process than what anybody could guess for the RE and GTA sales.

No further deal on the RE HD chronicles makes me a sad panda. I will just buy the two separately then.

EDIT: Also, which of these two should I play first? Chronologically wise? TIA.
nvm I got it.

Wait, the HD collections are going to be on sale? Shoot, gotta refigure my spending. I really hope sly is cheap, been meaning to pick them up:)

Why is there a rush to spend this $10. Is there a promotion going on or is it just burning a hole in your pocket? Also, if you are considering an HD collection, you might want to wait and see how Sony markets the Sly Collection and Jak collection when the Vita versions come out. I doubt they give the PS3 versions for free, but it seems like there might be some cross-buy or discount bundle.

How bad does GTA San Andreas look? From what I have read it is not an HD remake. Does it at least fill the entire screen on a flat panel?
Considering the HD versions of Metal Gear Solid have been on sale a few times, I think I should mention that Konami has confirmed the Legacy Collection, which has MGS, VR Missions, the HD Collection games (2, 3 (with the MSX games), and Peace Walker), and 4 with the trophy patch, plus 2 digital comics done by Ashley Wood.
VR Missions isn't on PSN is it? It would be sweet if MGS is on the disc and not a code.

I recorded a video of the PS2 Classics version, so you can see it in action:

There are widescreen options for all three of the games, so you just have to turn that on and the widescreen option in the emulation menu (hold down the PS Button) to turn that on.

This is awesome, I have been waiting for a complete MGS collection in a single package ever since the hd collection was announced. The vr missions from the first game, digital comics and the msx games are nice little bonus, the only thing that would make this perfect would be if they included a port of twin snakes on there (but I understand that it would be difficult to make it happen). Absolutely buying this on day one, I just wonder what the price will be.

GTA4 has almost ruined driving in previous GTA games for me. I'm used to having control but in the old GTA games I feel like I'm going too fast and that I'm going to constantly crash into something. Its going to take a while for me to get used to this.

You have to remember that GTA: San Andreas has driving stats, in which you become more proficient the longer you use vehicles. There are different experience bars for each vehicle type (planes, helis, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, boats) and they all start on 0. At the beginning, the handling sucks for anything. Fully leveling your bike ability in that game ensures you virtually never fall off, while a full leveled car stat means you turn on a dime in virtually anything.

I actually prefer SA's arcadey feel to GTA4's more physics-oriented control, but different strokes I guess.

It's all speculation at this point. There are tons of games that *COULD* be on sale. Just off the top of my head:

Bioshock games
Infamous games and FOB
Killzone games
Warhawk
Starhawk
Devil May Cry Trilogy
Devil May Cry
Fat Princess
All the Tekkens on the PSN
Dead Space games, Extraction, Ignition
Jak & Daxter games
Gravity Rush
God of War games
heavenly Sword
Uncharted Games and the card game
Metal Gear Solid Games
Ratchet and Clank games
Little Big Planet games
MediEvil games
Sly games
Twisted Metal games

Seems possible that PSN could go all out and discount a ton of games next week, or could play it conservative and discount just a few. No way of really knowing, and no point in really speculating too much.
Are the chronicles games any good without ps move?
I don't find any rail shooter games good without some type of gun/zapper controller.

Has there been any mention as to whether or not MGS is just the PS1 version, or if it'll get any type of upgrade? Since I've played all of them and platted all except Peace Walker, I can only see myself picking this up if MGS and VR Missions get some trophy support.

Update: Konami confirmed it's the same version on PSN. Also, it's coming this June.

The good old "burning a hole in my pocket", although after further thought, I have decided against China Town Wars for now.

I already have (and have beaten) Sly and Jak collections on PS3, so unless I can get them for next to nothing on Vita, I'll probably pass. Still have not jumped on R&C collection, but will keep my fingers crossed for 50% off the current $29.99 price on PSN.
