I almost forgot to ask you guys. Any Rayman fans care to give any feedback on which Rayman titles to pick up? I really enjoyed origins but that's sadly the only Rayman game I've played. So I'm definitely open for suggestions/opinions.
Watching videos of some of these it's easy to forget just how old some of these games are. Rayman 2 The Great Escape is an absolute classic in terms of 3D platformers but I'm not sure what Revolution is. I don't remember 3 being nearly in the same league though. The first game is a 2D platformer like Origins but if I remember right slower paced.

Revolution was the PS2 port of Great Escape. I've been trying to figure out if it's worth paying the extra dollar for, but I haven't found much online other than it looks better.
I'm also looking for input on this. I already have the PS1 version (haven't played it yet, of course) and was wondering whether it would be worth it to upgrade to the "better" one for $2.50.

Unrelated.. does Ibb and Obb require two players? Or is there an option for AI controlled partners/switching characters on the fly?

I've held off on buying Hitman because it's been screaming "Plus" for awhile now, especially after Sleeping Dogs was added a few months back.  I've also held off on Darksiders 2, Max Payne, and AC3 because of the same feeling.

It would of been nice to get a full vita game, but I'm fairly happy about the discount on Rayman.

Entering PS Plus in August (in no particular order)
  • Hitman: Absolution (PS3)
  • Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball (PS3)
  • Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (PS3)
  • Machinarium (PS Vita)
  • Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PS Vita, Compatible with PS Vita)

meh

very happy with the PS+ lineup for this month - all stuff I would not have considered playing/buying but all sounds cool enough. always wanted to try a Hitman game. Limbo on vita oughta be terrific. Plus Rayman digital sales? Cool.

Rayman 1 is great (well as much as I played of it, haven't played it in years and wasn't very good at it as a kid). It is also the most like Origins as it is also 2D versus the more traditional Super Mario 64 like sequels. 2 was the last one developed by creator Michael Ancel IIRC, and I don't believe 3 is held in nearly as high regard as his games (Arena is a pretty pointless spin off 10).
Thanks. I'll probably pick up the first one for $1.50 then. Can't really beat that. And I prefer old school 2d platformers anyways lol.

Hmm, I see. Just found this video which, ignoring the guy's emulator frame rate, shows the two side by side. I think The Great Escape still looks just fine and being able to play it on Vita is more appealing.

I'll consider getting the second one as well then I guess lol. I've just been overloaded on older 3D platform games recently. Playing lots of Ratchet and Clank for instance.

First month since I joined in January that I've already owned one of the free offerings, and two of the three PS3 ones at that. Though I have no regrets as Runner 2 is one of my favorite games and Star Wars Pinball is a good quick fix game. Never played a Hitman game, so I don't really have an opinion on that. Most stuff I've seen in it tends to be of the "meh" variety.

My backlog gives this month two analog sticks up!

Ouch. I have Hitman, Zen Pinball, and Machinarium (though it would be cool to play on vita I guess).
That is a good point, perfect game for the vita. I have not finished it yet on PS3 so it will be a nice addition. Been wanting to try Bit Trip Runner 2 also so win win for me.

Cool on Hitman, Runner 2, and Machinarium. I'd probably have more of a chance of playing Machinarium on the Vita as opposed to the PS3. I've already played Rayman Origins on the Vita so not sure I'd go back to that but that's a great price for anyone who hasn't played it yet. I also played through Rayman 2 on the 3DS (Rayman 3D) so not sure I'll be grabbing any of those. I have Star Wars Pinball and don't care about Darkstalkers.

Glad I held off on renting Hitman last time I had Gamefly.  Since I did rent Sleeping Dogs and Saint's Row when I had it, this is the best month for me in a while.

Probably going to pull the trigger on Rayman Origins too, but I still think it is likely to be free at some point in the near future.

I haven't played it since the N64 days but it's still probably my favorite 3D platformer of all time and for $1.50 worth sitting on.

fuck YES! A PSP FIGHTING GAME! JUST WHAT THE VITA IGC NEEDED! I'm so stoked for Darkstalkers I can't even find the words to express my enjoyment.

If there's 2 things that Vita IGC needed more of, it's PSP GAMES and FIGHTING GAMES!

:wall:

I bought Origins Vita too early :(

$13.22 VS $6.75 (lol.. sigh)
Yup. I guess "sigh" is my reaction too. Oops. Pretty lame month for me, hopefully I can get a few bucks for Hitman on Amazon. Star Wars Pinball is great, really happy I decided to pass on it a few months ago when it was on sale for every console except NA PSN. Rest is pretty bad. (See my above rant about the PSP game, and Machinarium on Vita? Yuck, I'm already not going to play it from when I got it for free on PS3)

Runner 2 is actually a great game for them to include too, I just already have it from a trade witha CAG. But it's $15, never been on sale more than 20% off, pretty new, and very good game.

worth noting the version of Great Escape he's playing is the PC version, so it is all but certainly better looking that the PS1 version that is on sale.

I wish we had gotten a different game than Machinarium for the Vita, considering we just got that for the PS3. Same thing happened with Jet Set Radio. I don't really care to play either game again on either system.

While I'm not thrilled with them including another version of the same game, I just wanted to say Machinarium is really good and you ought to give it a chance. Unless you absolutely hate point and click adventure games, I highly recommend it. A very clever, artistically beautiful, and ultimately rather touching game. I very much enjoyed it, with my only real problem being the controls aren't the greatest and at times I didn't realize what I could click on. I think it would be even better on the Vita thanks to touch controls, so anyone that hasn't played it yet ought to play that version :)

Well here's some shaky cam footage of someone playing the PSN version on their Vita and I can still live with it for the price.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5gO1_4aec4

hmm were the following games on sale AFTER march?

-Lumines

-Sound Shapes

-Rayman Origins

all Vita
Yes, Sound Shapes was $3.50 in May or June and Lumines has been $10 for a physical copy on Amazon for a while now.

Yeah, I wish we would've gotten a AAA vita title again. I guess they can't give out too many or they'll give us the whole library at its current rate, lol. Not a slam, I love my Vita, but its library is just about like the PSPs was, I figure it'll pickup more when the PS4 comes out.

Should I wait on Guacamelee? It still hasn't gone on sale. Or, I could buy it on Steam? Advice?

Still really, really mad I missed VLR. Sony needs a consistent update time.

Uh, VLR was free for over a month and they gave a months notice of when it was leaving too (posted on 7/1 that it was leaving on 7/30). They also update every Tuesday so you just check on Wednesday if you don't feel like dealing with the update.

As far as Gucamelee goes it was on sale when it launched so it will probably go on sale again but like others have suggested in the past I wouldn't expect another one until around fall.

Mentioned in the blog post about Hitman (and in the store) is that it comes with DLC:

Digital version bonus content:
- Deus Ex Disguise DLC for use in Contracts Mode.
- Deux Ex 'Zenith' Handgun DLC for use in Contracts Mode.
- Discount on the digital version of Sleeping Dogs.

Last one doesn't really matter to most of us, but free other stuff (that's probably not a big deal).

The PSP has a lot of great games I wouldn't mind seeing for free alongside one Vita game. The fighting game aspect? Not so much.

I missed VLR by, like 5 minutes because I was coming home with the plus code and had to redeem it and all.

I'm sorry but how long was it available as a free ps plus game? Pretty sure it was a long time. At the least you could have picked it up on the online store on your computer easily.

Blaming their update times on you not getting a free game you had weeks to acquire through many methods is pretty pathetic. And you won't find any sympathy on here from the others either lol.

Leaving PS Plus In August

  • 8/20 – Malicious
  • 8/27 – Dokuro

Guys, the good news is that eventually they're going to run out of PSP fighting games to give out for free. Then if we still all have PS Plus in 2024, we can all rejoice that we're no longer getting PSP fighting games.

But seriously, some of the stories in those fighting games are great. I usually only play fighting games for the story anyway.

And they have to give us PSP games because the Vita only has like 10 games because half of the digital titles on the store don't count because I really need to defend this poor argument to the death. Has anyone seen my dead horse? I think I need to beat it.

Oh, and slap to the face.

I think that sums everything up. Let me know if I missed anything from the past week.

I'm very pleased with this month's PS+ offerings, Hitman and Runner 2 are both awesome games I have been wanting to try. I was bummed out when they gave us Machinarium for PS3 and it wasn't crossbuy so I'm happy that were getting the game on Vita as well. I know you guys on this thread love Zen Pinball 2, so I'm happy for you guys there, I don't think I'll play that game myself though. Darkstalkers Chronicle is meh, I wish sony would stop giving us fighting games already.

I'm going to start a game studio that will exclusively make PSP fighting games that target PS+.

definitely happy about star wars pinball. i add that to my cart weekly, but i always remove it. shame, cause i would have bought it if they gave psn the sale they gave everyone else.

as far as everything else goes. i either don't care about it, or own it already. might try out mach on vita though. not really my style of game, but i've been trying to play some different things lately.

share the sentiment on psp fighters. there's so many good psp games they could pick. just wondering if this is an issue with the getting these from the publishers though. i'm fine with getting psp games. i actually like those alongside the vita ones. just wish it was more stuff like megaman, gods eater, final fantasy tactics(even though i bought it before plus), or even metal slug. i enjoyed getting tekken 6 and soul calibur, but this is too much for the same year.

Haha this Gamespot list suggests that there are 15 fighting games for the PSP. We are actually on pace to go through all the PSP fighting games by the end of 2016. I must say, I'm quite looking forward to the 3 Naruto and 3 Dragon Ball Z PSP fighting games we'll be getting in the coming months. I hope we start getting them in back to back months. Actually screw that, I wish we could get TWO PSP fighting games per month!

I'm happy with this month's offerings.  Looking forward to getting Hitman: Absolution and Zen Pinball: Starwars.  Hopefully, we will be getting Dishonored sometime this year.

Darkstalker is a great series to have, even though it's another fighting game on the Vita.

For anyone considering trading Rayman Vita to get the digital version it's down to $5 base at Gamestop (just got a phone quote) so it's roughly break even with the current promo.

Someone caught whatever slidecage has.

If they're gonna do PSP games, go back to giving us games like FF Tactics.  I'd like to see Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, FF4, or maybe Dissidia (lolfightinggame).  Not another goddamn fighting game.   :boxing:

Isn't Dissidia a fighting game?

I'd just wouldn't mind getting a little bit newer games. Interesting that the PS3 version of PS+ rarely goes back to games that are more than 2-3 years old, but Vita collection has no problem digging back to games from 2005.
