:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

I can understand that there are reasons that serious CAGs might want physical carts for Vita games. They give you the option to trade games in, can get better deals, etc... but I will never spend a cent on a physical cart for a Vita game. It took me 2-3 minutes once to find something I could use to pry the flap off of the top to see where the games went, and then it took me a while to get it open once I had such a tool, and I managed to put a small scratch in the flap. It's a pain in the ass that I am not ever going to want to mess with. I'll just take my digital releases, thanks. :p

This week there's actually a handful of worthwhile .99 movie rentals. In addition to the movies no one's ever heard of on sale every week, there is:

-Black November starring Mickey Rourke, Kim Basinger, and the mom from Walking Dead.
-Two Night Stand
-Lap Dance starring Carmen Elektra
-Ask Me Anything starring Christian Slater, Justin Long, and Martin Sheen.

Watch the trailers on the PSN store. That last movie seems like something your girlfriends would enjoy, so score some brownie points on the cheap.

I would pay $0.99 to not have to watch those movies.

You couldn't open it with a thumbnail? You can't think that everyone's using a tool to pop in a game or memory card?

I don't have fingernails, and frankly it was hard enough to open that I'm not sure I'd trust a fingernail to do the job.

Edit: I have fingernails, but I bite them really short.

Yeah, I just trimmed my fingernails this morning but the lids come off real easy. They have notches to let you get a grip. Try it out.

I know you thought you needed a tool because something like a tablet has a lid that's completely sealed for the micro SD card slot, but Vita is just an engineering marvel.

There's a good quarter of an inch of skin between the tip of my nail and the tip of my finger. believe me, I need a tool.

slidecage is hilarious. Dude's been on CAG for over 10 years, been using that same shitty spacebar plagued keyboard since day one.
what can i say i love my old keyboard and it keeps others from using my Pc, Letters are no longer on the letters (all faded away) so if you dont know the keyboard by heart you have no clue what letter is what :)

I've never heard of any of those either.
At least watch the trailers - you stream them right from the PSN store.

The movie that interests me the most is Two Night Stand, about a one-night stand gone awry when a blizzard keeps them in the next day and they're stuck with each other. Hilarity presumably ensues. It looks like it beats out Weekend at Bernie's for comedy gold.

Just watched the trailer on Youtube and think I'll give that one a shot. Thanks!

Also The Front Line isn't that bad, it's a Korean war movie. Thought it was worth the $4 I paid for the Blu at Fry's.

I hoped for a deeper discount on Dragon Age for the PS4, but the sale is what I expected it to be. It gives me no hope for PS4 GTA V's sale being good. Here's hoping there will be a good Golden Week sale after the Spring Fever sales are done. Maybe there will be a Flash sale this weekend so it'll put some distance between another Flash sale at the beginning of May.

Man I didn't realize how much space PS4 saves take until I just went and cleaned everything up I don't need by moving it to flash drive.

Same here. Bestbuy with GCU you can beat this.

I wasn't ready for DA:I yet anyway so outside of Bastion my money's safe this week. It would have gone directly to backlog.

GTA V I traded in my disc to Bestbuy for $40 when the 8 week sale was announced, so I need a sub $40 sale to get it back.

Have you been to a Best Buy, Target or Wal-Mart lately? There ain't nothing sitting on those shelves for Vita. Also another pathetic sign of Vita's fate. Just about everything is clearanced and physical is getting harder to find almost everywhere except GameStop.
B__8gkIXEAA9KNN.jpg

Wow, that's impressive. I have a number of Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buys in my area and your Wal-Mart has more Vita games than all of those stores combined.

And I didn't literally mean none (hence why I said most are clearanced). But the sections at each store have maybe 4-5 individual titles at best. Looking around it looks desolate compared to any other system (especially at Best Buy since they carry more games than the other stores overall and all you see is a few games and a whole bunch of placards with nothing In the Vita section).

Sorry, but physical Vita games are very much getting harder to find at physical retailers, except GameStop, but even they have a generally pathetic selection compared to every other system!).

This happens for so many reasons. The first and most obvious one is that it's just expensive for retailers to carry as they just simply don't sell and take up shelf real estate. Secondly, Sony could care less because the Vita's profits are crutching on the exorbitantly-priced memory cards. They sell those cards by filling up your current card; by forcing you to go digital - free games, forcing to buy retail (larger) games digitally, etc.

Also pretty sure they condone the bullshit of applying patches that are 50% of the game's size coughKillzoneMercenarycough. My Xbone could barely handle that ridiculous 30gb Halo MCC patch, let alone my VIta's 16 gb card handling a f**king-gb patch.

I can agree with that assessment and those are all reasons why the Vita has flopped, especially the memory card issue.

This should not be a thing for anything released on Vita after the Vita TV was released.. I just don't get how Sony dropped the ball so badly here.

MonsterBag seems to require the touchscreen for some mechanics, so the devs would have to redesign the controls/mechanics to make it mostly playable with just a DS4 or DS3. Sony isn't really to blame for the devs not designing their game with PSTV in mind.

But many games that don't rely on the touch screen are still PS TV-incompatible. Most frustratingly: Helldivers. Like Rippn said, Sony really should mandate support for PS TV when a game doesn't need touchscreen functions or only uses them mildly.

Okay. I wasn't arguing against that. Just saying that MonsterBag has touch controls and that's why it's not playable on PSTV.

It would be nice if devs were more cognizant of the PSTV as an avenue for selling their Vita games to more people without requiring much more dev work on top of what they're already doing. The best we can do is reach out to the devs on Twitter, Facebook, email, etc to relay the desire for PSTV support on those sorts of games without being jerks about it.

$17.50 for the Game of Thrones Season Pass is a great deal. They sell it for $30 on PC, but I got it for 10% off. I will say the price of admission is amazing, even for a Telltale game. You're getting six episodes, not five, to enjoy. And if you think of it as paying $5/ep for the whole lot, spending $3.50/ep is still nice...but if you want to wait until the eventual $10 sale, that's your choice. I will say that the game is amazing.

I have a feeling Sony would rather you own a PS4 and play Helldivers on it rather than on a PSTV.

Two things --

1) We have shown that we (the royal we) spend all of our money on digital releases and physical releases sit on store shelves.
Have you been to a Best Buy, Target or Wal-Mart lately? There ain't nothing sitting on those shelves for Vita. Also another pathetic sign of Vita's fate. Just about everything is clearanced and physical is getting harder to find almost everywhere except GameStop.
Um. That was the point. We don't buy them, they sit there, they get clearanced, space gets given to other products that sell, and publishers stop producing physical releases for vita.

Meanwhile, digital sells, has a high profit margin, and no used/after market. So we continue to get games, just no physical releases, which slidecage then uses to say nothing is coming out even though plenty of games are.

I didn't spell all that out because, well, I didn't think I had to.

My bestbuy pretty much stopped selling anything Vita and most definitely the pre-owned. You know how "all" the PO vita games are dead cheap at BBY?! Well, I can't find a single ONE at mine. I suppose the right word(?) for this is FML?

So he may have a point about the vita games; but I dont think it is any indication of how vita is doing. It is just an indication of what bestbuy is doing.

I am not going to get into the "yes vita" & "no vita" arguments. I play what I like and that is all I care.

We you born without fingernails?

EDIT:

I don't have fingernails,
Holy shitttttt.

That's a shame. I can flip a vita cart in like 2 seconds flat. I don't ever do this, of course, because I only own a couple carts and never play them, but still.

EDIT:

There's a good quarter of an inch of skin between the tip of my nail and the tip of my finger. believe me, I need a tool.
Wait. That's even weirder than no fingernails. Pics please! I need to see your typing sticks.

I'm in the same boat as film. I use my Star City Games 1 month premium card I got from one of their Magic tournaments. Debit card is too thin I find but that Star City card is the right thickness.

Ok, at least you're adorable.

Though you were wrong about no Vita sales. Run Like Hell is on sale this week. Anyone know if it's any good as an endless runner? A buck and change is hard to pass up.

It looks like it beats out Weekend at Bernie's for comedy gold.
Impossible.

Wow, that's impressive. I have a number of Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buys in my area and your Wal-Mart has more Vita games than all of those stores combined.
Fred Meyers near me has tons of vita games too. Target and BB don't though (5 each, maybe).

RE: someone else's crazy theory that we don't have carts so Sony can sell more memory cards.... um... what? Sony lets us download infinitely for free. Just delete and redownload to your hearts content like everyone else does. I doubt many people own more than one memory card, and it's certainly not how Sony derives most of its profit for the Vita. They get a cut from digital sales.

Memory card prices are definitely high, but that's due to lack of economies of scale and subsidizing the vita price to keep it lower. But Vita related profits are not reliant on us buying multiple memory cards, that's just... not true. Yes, they make money off them, but to think they're against physical sales so they can sell more memory cards is crazy talk.

You can bet your bottom dollar sony -wishes- Vita had the physical cart sales to sustain huge shelves of games like the 3ds does.

all these hate about the Vita can just suck it

Well this thread has gone downhill... Shows how weak this weeks sale is lol
Talking about the lack of fingernails due to nervous biting of nails, so they need Sony to redesign the vita cart slot.

The lack of cheap memory for the vita *is* an issue for sure.

Must be especially bad for you since you had to include things that weren't said in your summary of the conversation.

http://www.webmd.com/anxiety-panic/tc/nail-biting-topic-overview

Nail-biting (onychophagia) is a common stress-relieving habit. You may bite your nails in times of stress or excitement, or in times of boredom or inactivity. It can also be a learned behavior from family members. Nail-biting is the most common of the typical "nervous habits," which include thumb-sucking, nose-picking, hair-twisting or -pulling, tooth-grinding, and picking at skin.

Honestly, for me at least, it's not hate about the Vita. It's just what I feel is a sad state of affairs for Vita users. Believe me, I would love Vita to have been a huge success. But despite the argument that there are still games coming out and are available digitally, I don't think anyone here can say even Sony is happy with how things went with Vita.

Anyway, I'm happy to get back to deal discussion. Just nothing for me this week.
