:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Hardest I've ever played? Easy, mystic quest. But on a serious note, I'm not sure. Nocturne personally is up there, but it was also a huge time sink. I always love jrpgs but find I get to a spot in any one where I find a boss or particular enemy group really hard. The srpgs are really where I have trouble. I love the disgaea games in theory, but when I try to play them I just cannot do it usually.

I haven't played front mission but I do know its an srpg thus why I purchased it.

grandia 1 is ok. starts out good story wise but it tapers off quickly to just enter generic area solve peoples problems leave to next rinse repeat. I would of liked it better if the story didn't go all grim dark towards the end.
I had heard of the Front Mission series by its fourth game myself. For one reason or another, the box art for that game is still stuck in my mind. As far as Grandia goes, that first bit about its story actually reminds me of a few other games. All in all, they both seem to be right up my alley.

My purchases from the sale:

Olliolli

Rollers Of The Realm

Costume Quest 2 PS4

Contrast

Guacamelee PS4

#KILLALLZOMBIES

SMT: Nocturne

SMT: DDS

SMT: P3 FES

Persona 2: EP

Saved $4.53 additional with the 10% off code, as I had to do OlliOlli on its own order due to the 10 item cart limit, so lost out on $0.30.

I had a number of the items in the flash sale from other purchases or PS+ freebies.
HeY, you should come join us in the Ps3/4 gsharing thread.. more than welcome and you can save a heck of a lot more than 10%. Hope to see you there. Stay indoors.

Wizardy, the beginning of Bard's Tale (first few levels), Nethack.

Nocturne has that first boss which is difficult, and a few rough patches, but I play SMT games on hardest difficultly and there's rarely anything too difficult once you have a grip on the combat systme.
Matador's a real fuck er. The thing about Nocturne, though, is that I would bet it's the first SMT game most of us played. I miiight have rented Persona 2 but I don't really remember. I don't know ANYONE who played Revelations: Persona when it came out. I think having plenty of SMT experience under my belt, I could go back to Nocturne now and it wouldn't be nearly as rough. But man, Matador. fuck that guy.

Also, if you preloaded Grim Fandango on PS4, you're in for a bad time. It isn't unlocking until tomorrow, and Sony is suggesting you delete/restore licenses/redownload it to make it unlock, but in my case, it's just resulted in not being able to redownload it. So maybe wait it out to see if it's still busted tomorrow.

It's like 2014 all over again. Goddammit.

Love that so many of you are raving about and new people are picking up Nocturne, you are all making me want to play it again.

That Double Jump guide is really helpful for that one if you can find it.

Installed the PS4 stuff from the sale & Rollers ot Realm is showing up with the Strike Suit icon.  All runs fine but it's visually annoying.  Anybody else had problems with dup or wrong icons?  Is there a fix or just try delete/reinstall?

I started with Revelations: Persona. In fact, I purchased it upon release.

I couldn't get past how many random encounters there were in Persona, so I never played 1 and 2. Nor 3 or 4. Persona Q was my first Persona game. But you guys are making me want to play Nocturne (did play Strange Journey and SMT:IV).

3 and 4 don't have random encounters.

The random battles in the first game were bad on the PSP, and all the corridors looked similar so it was really easy to get lost. The game might get better, I only played for a couple hours.

I didn't mention Matador by name because it's such an inventive character/boss design I didn't want to spoil it in any way, but yes, that's who I meant. Matador is difficult, but far from impossible. He's mostly difficult because he insists you play the game 'right' to beat him... if you don't exploit the press turn system and elemental strengths/weaknesses, you will not pass. Not even grinding 10 levels will help you.

In my opinion, he's absolutely fantastic. He's placed fairly early as sort of a 'gate' to the rest of the game. If you've been pushing through everything by brute force, he's there to say 'no, it's time to learn how to play the game now'. Brilliant.

Um... it's been awhile but I'm pretty damn sure Persona games have random encounters. I swear I used to ramble around those half-assed dungeon levels to get combat. Then again, I can't remember if you need to keep going up and down the stairs to respawn the encounters, which I suppose could make it arguable that it's not strict random encounters.

Nope, no random encounters in Persona 3 or 4.

You see the enemies in the dungeon and you see the enemies on the map. Respawning enemies does not mean random encounters.

Random encounters are if you're walking around and you're now in a battle with no warning or reason. There is none of that in P3 or P4.

What? Persona 3 and 4 definitely don't have random encounters. On the maps, you can even attack enemies from behind to start the battle with a free turn. Likewise, if they bump into you, they get a free turn on you.

Enemies will respawn as you wonder like in the Tales games. But you can see them on the map and they aren't hard to avoid if they are weaker as they won't run after you.

Persona Q's encounter system is taken from the Etrian Odyssey series, not Persona. It's technically not even a random encounter system since it tells you when you're about to get into a fight. The dungeon crawling stuff is all from EO while most of the rest of the game is from Persona minus a few minor things, such as no bonus mechanic, support skills, or rows in battles.

I assume the list has updated, but not prices yet. I'm a little surprised that the Bethesda sale for Skyrim/Fallout wouldn't include the base games though, at least not at first glance.

I have Persona 1 on PSP via some GS clearance years ago (I think) and I've literally fallen asleep both times I've tried to play it.

Terrible game, fantastic cure for insomnia.

I would hope some go down further but a lot of them match the XBL sale.

Ah, okay, I misremembered. You're right, then, no random encounters. I didn't remember them being visible in p4g, but granted, i didn't spend too much time with the game due to my general dislike for everything but the combat, which I can get in other smt games.

Bethesda never put any of the Elder Scrolls or Fallout games on PSN, so that's an impossible thing for them to do.

Need For Speed: Rivals Complete Edition: $14.99.

Just after I bought the base game for $12. :(
Bought the vanilla version for $16 from BB back in November (and I haven't played it) . Base trade is $9, so $12.60 after bonus and GCU. May go ahead and trade it towards PSN credit to get the digital complete version.

Guess if there's no 15 for 15 sale, at least I'll have the money for Grim Fandango (holding out, of course, until tomorrow when all the issues are hopefully fixed).

It still may be possible that they do a 15 for 15 flash sale. Or we can hope...

Why are some people assuming there will be a 15 for 15 sale? Did I miss something?

Not sure what (if anything) I'll get from the new sale.  I've looked through the current sale pages and nothing is jumping out  (that I don't own) other than maybe Doom Classic Complete (PS3) depending on the final price and reading some feedback about if it's common to cause headaches (sometimes old FPS's really make my brain hurt).

I grabbed the regular version of Dishonored yesterday at GameStop in their 3 for $10 used game deal.  Heck yesterday alone I bought 15 games for just over $50 after tax... so I probably need to take a break from shopping.

I guess I'm one of the few that had Revelations: Persona as their first Persona game?  I didn't buy it at launch but I grabbed it probably a year or so later used (and complete).  I thought it looked cool.  I'm not sure I got very far in it.  I stopped paying attention to Persona after Persona 2 and every time in modern days that I look at the series I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the various titles despite having people explain the series.

As for the PS4 Version of Whoa Dave!, I'm getting an error, "You are not eligible to purchase or download this content.".  I guess I need to wait for the store to finish updating or search the game myself.  EDIT: Now the page is gone.
