:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

I liked this part of the post:

in response to popular demand, PlayStation Store is extending our Flash Sale and Holiday Sale.
Most of next month's freebies sound great, though. I'm excited about everything except The Swapper... I played it a bit on PC, and man, the "gimmicky indie puzzle platformer" genre is getting really oversaturated, imo. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so, because playing through Castlevania: SOTN the other day, I was surprised to see this in the intro cutscene:

The final week of the Holiday Sale is being extended until next Tuesday due to the connection issues over the past few days.
Yeah! Another week to debate picking up more games I don't need.

In other words, we don't give a crap about your connection issues, but we'll gladly take more money from you with our shitty sale.
What? If anything, that shows they do care and aren't just removing the sale despite the issues.

Besides, they care a hell of a lot about these DDOS attacks -- they are losing a huge amount of money every day people can't connect to the store during the holidays.

3 months in a row pure trash for vita. no wonder why sony no longer supports it
Duke Nukem ain't trash.

Neither was Binding of Isaac, for that matter.

I have to back up others who consider this a cop-out by Sony. While the DDS attacks weren't Sony's fault, to use that as a reason for not having to offer any new deals seems pretty weak. Probably should have extended those in existence and added others. Just my .02. I did by NHL 15 for what it's worth.
You're right. They should have called up all the various publishers -- at their home numbers, of course, since it's the holidays -- and forced them to put their games on sale else risk the wrath of santa's fury.

FFS, they're doing the right thing and extending the sale. Turning that into a bad thing just makes no sense.

Are you operating off the assumption that there weren't any games that were scheduled to be on sale this week?

That's fine and all but they should've added new deals on top of it... unless they did and I'm just not noticing them.
The store isn't fully updated yet, so you might want to hold off the complains for a bit.

Sneak peak:

Assassin's Creed Rogue for $45: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/assassins-creed-rogue/cid=UP0001-NPUB31547_00-ACCDIGITALPS3001

Edit: Weird. AC Rogue was a part of the Flash Sale that I missed.

So all the deals are getting extended until next week right? (No new deals?)
Man, you guys are really good at having zero patience so that you can jump to conclusions from millions of miles away.

Since things are already getting kind of dumb today, let's try something else that's still dumb but is at least new. I'm working on writing down the new deals for today in this Google Docs file and you can tune in live to watch the magic happen. You can't edit anything, just watch me write, so if you're really lazy, this might be the thing for you.

But I want to make rainbow unicorn cell art while you type!

Edit- Ooo saw you typing, it's like we're in the future. Is watching people type Word docs be the next Twitch streaming?!~

Maybe we'll have competitive typography even and it will be judged by Mavis Beacon!

I always think it's funny when people are upset about the lack of items on sale.  I'm willing to bet that less than 1% of people on this site have little or no backlog and the vast majority of people on this site could probably play their currently library of games for a year or more (probably much more) without getting tired of it.  People (myself included) need to admit they have a spending addiction or a "deal" addiction.

Looks like I'm going to buy the Jackbox Party Pack at full price. I was hoping for a discount today.

New Years Eve party I'm going to is going to be entertaining with that game....and PT.

Shutup and be in denial like the rest of us.

Being an RPG fan is suffering, all the games I want to beat take 75+ hours and I'm a completionist so I usually take much more time than that with one game. It's not my fault the backlog naturally grows!

Im pretty sure if i stopped buying games today i could play my backlog for the next 5 years and have all new gaming experiences. But a deal is a deal homie.

So I bought LA Noire on Monday with the $5 Kong coupon since I loved that game on 360. I  now hope there is a Rockstar sale soon that has the season pass for dirt cheap. Want to replay those again also.

Duke Nukem would be nice as a ps + game and its cross buy(PS3- Vita) Woah Dave is pretty fun too, i got that for a buck on 3ds.

5 years? I probably could never buy another game again if I just played what I owned and classics and be fine until I needed to replace hardware.

Seriously, this is why I have trouble even starting these games. I just started playing DA Origins again during the outages and I'm like 12-15 hours in and already dreading continuing knowing that I have like 50-60 hours left with all the DLC and expansion. I have RPGs to play until I'm dead. :wall:

i have massive backlog im compulsive deal shooper on games i have game addiction i like to collect music also i have more music cds and games to play n listen to for lfietime but im compelled to buy more this ish ow entertainment industry works i love it how they market this technique i makes u feel happy then party selling it happy also

The only way we could actually get a handle on our backlogs is if the Hyperbolic Time Chamber from DBZ was an actual thing that existed and could be used for playing videogames instead of important things like training to save the world.

what RPGs are you playing that takes that long to beat without doing side stuff/completing everything?

Like I said, they should have sent enforers to publshers homes on Christmas Day to force them to come up with new deals.

People, it's the Holidays. They want to be on vacation just as much as everyone else. Stop being grinches trying to give them more work to do just because you need more backlog.

Are you operating off the assumption that there weren't any games that were scheduled to be on sale this week?
That really has nothing to do with anything. The key word is 'scheduled'. They schedule this stuff in advance, and expecting them to change everything up while everybody's on holiday is a bit silly I feel bad enough for alll the techs that probably spent 72 hours without sleep during the holidays doing their best to mitigate the DDOS while all of us played fiddlesticks.

Im pretty sure if i stopped buying games today i could play my backlog for the next 5 years and have all new gaming experiences. But a deal is a deal homie.
My vita could last me 5-10 years, my ps3 another 5-10, my ps4 another several, and my pc would take me another 10 easy. Conservatively. It's quite possible it would take me 20 just to get through my ps1/psp/vita collection.

Yet I bought several vita, ps4, and pc games this past week.

I need to feed addiction to buying mobile games on next gen.

It's all silliness anyway since honestly I could probably game forever on freewar roguelikes like nethack and wargames like battle of wesnoth, not to mention fanmakes of stuff like xcom, etc. But I like shiny sometimes. Gaming is my only vice, at least.

Have you tried Crypt of the Necrodancer yet? I bought it frustrated with the Steam sale and it is so amazing, would love a Vita port.

I'm pretty sure Sony plans these deals out like a month ahead of time. Furthermore XBL is having daily deals right now. Do you really think Microsoft is calling up publishers at 1 in the morning every day to ask if they can put their games on sale for that day? Of course not, use your logic and reasoning skills man.

That's the joke.

I'm keeping that on the down low. I did some bad things in my past.

Good list btw. Happy to see Transistor, Shovel Knight, Binding of Isaac, Swapper (can't wait to play it next week), Rogue Legacy, and Persona Q.

Have you played Bayonetta 2?

My Top 10 list of my favorite games of 2014 is out now, for those that might be interested:

http://smashpad.com/chris-top-10-games-of-2014/
Sunset Overdrive is the first thing I would buy if I ever got an Xbox. The rest of that stuff I've either played and enjoyed, or will probably enjoy when I get around to it (Persona Q, Shovel Knight).

I think my two favorite games of this year have been Dragon Age: Inquisition and Metal Gear Rising, both of which I played on my PC. I played a lot of good games, but tend to have a hard time choosing which ones deserve to be mentioned in a list like this.

I would have rated Shadow of Mordor at the top of my list for game of the year.  It's the Lord of the Rings game that we all have been waiting for, and it is absolutely brilliant.

When it was good but to me AC4 was a much better all around AC game. Personally the environment was bland and uninteresting and it took the tedium of the AC games to the max. The Batman combat was solid and it was a good over all package but I didn't find it anywhere near GOTY material. The inevitable sequel will be interesting though and hopefully they really build it out even further and provide and playground that's a bit more than desolate groups of the same thing to fight.

Agreed. I was skeptical with all the AC and Batman ripoff comparisons, but it's a absolute blast to play and combat is actually even more satisfying than either of those games (and the Mordor setting takes the cake). I was shocked to see it get Gamespot's top honor but now that I've played it, not so much. Definately the most fun gameplay of the year IMO.

I'll see if there's another Flash Sale after this one ends at Noon Pacific.

I was gonna get the Jackbox game pack for tonight's New Year's party but I'll see if some sale comes up for the New Year's weekend.
