:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Hoping for some PS4 games as part of this flash sale. I got my PS4 Batman Bundle today and the Stealth combo pack is the only thing that is grabbing my attention from this week's sales.

Waiting for the flash sale first, but I'm definitely eying Yakuza 4, Jet Set Radio and Bioshock Infinite. That 21GB download of Yakuza 4 is certainly not favorable, but I've heard the story is really good. Just picked up Tales of Xillia limited edition the other day, glad I haven't opened it yet because if ToX comes in super cheap w/ this flash sale I'm definitely taking the hard copy back.

Where did you get the LE? Toys R Us still has some for MSRP $60 last time I checked.

The LE Bonuses are not worth the extra money. CD doesn't have the best selection and the art book is kinda sparse...for an art book. If you spent $60, you might as well buy the full CE with the Milla figure which actually is pretty solid.

My local target had it for $30 because they're trying to get rid of their PS3 stock.

Well we did get Gravity Rush for a dollar.

I don't think it's likely this time though.
Yeah, I'm convinced the prices aren't going to drop all that much. Maybe 50%... I strongly doubt we're going to see $1 or even $5 sales. Would be nice if they slashed the price of one of the Disgaeas, because I'd really like to try one of those.

Suikoden 3?!

Now, they just need to release Suikoden Tactics, and V on PSN. IV can go to hell.
Yea i was like... wtf when i saw that Suikoden IIII post. Sweet, now 1-3 is up. I was about to post that they should skip IV and put V up and we'd be golden. I have physical copies of all the games but it would be nice to have digital ones too

Yeesh.. do ANY SUikoden fans not hate IV?

Do I need to play Suikoden I and II to understand what happens in Suikoden III?
not needed but it helps. Theres characters from the first couple games and children of characters from the first couple of games in it. The main villian and who they are has a lot more impact if you've played the first few. It plays very different than all the other games in the series though, they changed the battle system quite a bit. Story is quite interesting though.

So i need to put a 1tb HDD in my Batman LE ps4. Im keeping the other one downstairs in the family room but want to put a good sized one in this one for my bedroom. I was just wondering if you guys think a 5400 rpm hdd would be safer than a 7200 rpm. I called Sony and they said they recommend a 5400 rpm hdd... but their tech supports pretty crappy

these are the 2 models i have

Samsung spinpoint 5400rpm

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152291

HGST travelstar 7200rpm

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145881

which one would be the best bet? Obviously a 7200 rpm would be faster but im concerned about heat since ps4's seem to run a bit hot. Is either one of those a better brand than he other? I tend to think both sammy and HGST are decent

Not this Suikoden fan. I remember when IV was released. I bought it without reading a review because it said "Suikoden" on it and I took that as a seal of quality. That game felt like a betrayal. It's probably why I love V so much. While playing it, I kept thinking to myself, "Oh yeah... they still know how to make a good Suikoden game. IV was a fluke."

Why not go for 2TB? The drives are around $100, or even less if you are willing to crack open an external USB enclosure.

I've been running a 7200 RPM since launch day and haven't had any problems. The vast majority of the heat is going to come from the CPU & GPU anyway. The gradual dust build-up inside the system and the thermal paste drying up will eventually cause the system to run hotter regardless.

I'd really recommend going with the 7200.

I was going to post a similar response. The only thing is, once you crack the case on the 2tb seagate you void the warranty. It's 80 bucks now on Amazon getting good reviews. What size flash drive do you need to download the operating system?
Huh? Then what did I download for free yesterday? I thought this was already out?
They prematurely made it available so some were able to get it before they pulled out.

Don't believe Ondore's lies! Unlike Final Fantasy games which are completely new worlds, Suikoden games are in the same universe. Events in past games are sometimes relevant and some characters even return meaning you miss their character development in earlier games. I made the mistake of starting on 2 and missed out on a few things.

playstation.com -> Highlight "Support" and select "System Updates" -> Click on the PS4 picture

The latest update is 234MB.

The instructions are here for a full system restore. It uses the same update. They recommend having at least a 1gb jumpdrive... but you shouldn't even need one that big. Here's the link:

According to wikipedia, the chronological order would be:

Suikoden IV (143 years before Suikoden V and 150 years before Suikoden) → Suikoden V (6 years before Suikoden)Suikoden (3 years before Suikoden II) → Suikoden II (15 years before Suikoden III) → Suikoden III (168 years after Suikoden IV)

Is the season pass on Evolve a new msrp? I found articles from January saying it was $24.99 but it's $14.99 on PSN/XBLive/Steam right now. Wasn't sure if this is some 2k sale thing across the board

Here are some images of whats gonna be on the flash sale for vita. Credit goes to the vita reddit for taking the pics:

noticed this, this morning.

Anyone with a vita (the primary web browsing device for my bedroom!) can log into the PSN Store and look at the flash sale tab.

tap Featured, then Weekly Deals and then Flash Sale.

I hope Hyper... TLDR rebirth 1 gets as low as the recent steam summer sale at around $7(?can't recall exact amount? it was cheap) because at 3.15GB that game will need something else deleted to make space for, on my medium (but still tiny) 16GB memory card. And I have heard and read good things about this upgraded port. (The shear number of games in this series is confusing, But I'm fairly certain this is the place to start if it's cheap enough.)

Meanwhile the otherwise Gamestop exclusive "Tails of Hearts R" I'm hoping will be in the $5-10 range. At only 1.65 GB it'll be much easier to add to my memory card with minor sacrifices required.

My biggest hope is New Little King story for $3, partly because I'm cheap, and partly so I can grab the above two games and this without running out to buy another $20 PSN store card. lol

Pocket RPG looks kind of lame, as the first level is like a 3 room Gauntlet-like.

I can't wait to find out the PS3 (and possible but highly unlikely) non Vita PSP games this Thursday/Friday when this sale starts.

I grabbed a few psn cards at lunch, now I'm prepped for the flash sale if it happens as expected.  I went ahead and bought Daytona USA and the battle mode for Sonic Adventure 2.  I'll wait for the weekend to figure out what else I'm buying.

Suiko 4 was garbage. I remember people saying, "Ooh, this is the game that's going to put Suikoden back on the right track after the third game, which was barely recognizable as Suikoden!" Uh, no it didn't. Suiko 5 wasn't terribly ambitious and it had dreadful load times, but at least it looked and felt like a Suikoden game.

I'm not sure I'd say 4 was the only misstep in the series, though. I asked a friend if I should buy Tierkries, and he just about jumped between me and the display case in slow motion, shouting "Noooooooo-!!!" Suiko Tactics was also a huge turd.

Sony approved of its release, so they're more at fault as the publisher than the developers.
Because all systems were go. It passed it's beta tests with flying colors and reviewers all say it played perfectly before launch day when suddenly there were a ton more users.

Sure, it's technically someone's fault but it was a completely unexpected issue. The fact that it took so long to fix shows how deep of an issue it was.

Blaming Sony is a waste of breath. They did exactly what they could have done -- Evo believed their testing, Sony believed Evo when Evo said all was good, and then, when shit hit the fan they told us they'd fix it and get it to us. And they did. Blaming Sony seems downright silly. it was obviously an unexpected catastrophic problem that their testing didnt turn up.

the decision to "hide" the game so nothing would leak out by doing a limited beta is the problem. had they done proper stress testing, the "unexpected catastrophic" problem would have become apparent immediately.

Oh i wasn't saying i didn't hate IV. I just meant its funny that it is pretty much universaly reviled. I can see why though, it really doesn't feel like a suikoden game at all.

I didn't hate it. Even a bad Suikoden game is better than the best most other series can produce.

holy crap... first Suikoden fan i've found that didnt hate it... Thats the problem. Other than getting the standard 108 stars of destiny it really didn't feel like a suikoden game. HOw the hell do you have a standard 4 party member system i suikoden? FEH. PLus Snow was the most annoying character in the series EVER

I loved V. Its one of my faves actually. It really went back to the basics and i loved the fomation options they added. THe story was pretty damn good too and it really made Georg Prime a bad ass.

Tiekries i have not played despite owning. My understanding is its not even really a suikoden game. Tactics wasn't too bad though. It was about a million times better than IV at least. Actually i always felt if they were doing a spin off they should have made it based on Kika. She was far and away the most interesting character/thing about SIV
