:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

Forgive me is this has been asked and answered, but did Sony ever say if the cross-buy of Journey counts toward the "Buy 2 - Get 10% off coupon" promotion?  I'm guessing it doesn't count, but you never know.

Is anyone else getting an error when they try to buy stuff on PSN right now? I'm using the website.

ETA: The mobile site worked.

Ended up grabbing Rock Boshers DX. I like retro twin stick games and it being cross buy with PS4 & Vita was a plus. The clincher was it's also PSTV compatible. I think this'll be a good lunchbreak game. Which will be good as I'm within a couple of missions of having Luftrausers 100% done.

Since no one knows and I own the physical version of Journey for PS3, I wanted to take a moment and chime in with a tip.

When the game came available for PS4 did it show as "Purchased" or "Free"? If it showed Free, did you take the time to add it to your cart and check out? IF so, did you get a receipt? I think as long as it purchased and there is a receipt then you should have a very good chance of it counting. If it showed "Purchased" then I'd go ahead and hit the store and queue it up for download just to be sure but it seems a lot less likely that if a receipt wasn't generated that they aren't counting it as part of the Play promo deal.

But no one knows for certain and I don't think Sony has responded.

Thinking about Pinball Arcade Season 1 and 2 along with Rock Boshers DX for PS4. It's crazy that I still only own 2 disc games for PS4 since I bought the system in February but that will alleviate the need to buy the Pinball Arcade disc.

well, I sure wasn't there on day 1
I don't think I did either. It looks like EU members are getting some kind of custom print that will "show everything you've achieved as a PlayStation Plus member." Sounds like it could be interesting, maybe using trophies to show games beaten or how many played, etc. Since it was announced there at the end of June, I'm guessing it's not for NA people.

Also, the article says August's PS+ titles are available now. I don't know why I read IGN articles. :dunce:

PS Now Subscription is coming to Vita and PS TV starting tomorrow, so you can sign up and browse the subscription library natively on those devices. The new games for subs this month are Bomberman Ultra, Dynasty Warriors 8, God of War III, The Last Guy, and MX vs ATV Supercross.

A shitty port of Tetris? Now I've heard everything.

The only way it could have shitty controls is if you have to tap the touchscreen to rotate clockwise and the rear touchpad to rotate counterclockwise.

Tetris Ultimate for the Vita is a perfectly serviceable modern version of Tetris. No control gimmicks and plenty of modes. I think it is worth $4.

Grabbed from the current sales:

Boss! - Vita

Color Guardians - PS4/Vita

Dave Lang's Turnover, or Roundabout for the layman - PS4

Don't Die, Mr. Robot! - Vita

Flame Over - Vita

Jungle Rumble: Freedom, Happiness, and Bananas - Vita

Never Alone - Foxtales - PS4

Nihilumbra - Vita

Pinball Arcade Season 2 - PS4

Rock Boshers DX: Director's Cut - PS4/Vita

I've only played Color Guardians and Nihilumbra so far, so I'll post impressions of those two.

Nihilumbra - It's a 2D puzzle platformer with the main mechanic being a touch version of Portal 2's gels. You have powers you can swipe on the floor of the levels to get various effects to help you out, which slick ice and bouncy grass being the first two I've earned so far. The ice lets you get longer jumps as well as move around quicker along with using it to get enemies to fly off the edges. The grass lets you reach higher ledges, though you often need to backtrack to jump from higher ground to get enough height. There's some sort of story about coming from The Void and trying to escape its attempts to recapture you, but it seems like just filler to justify some neat mechanics. Seems solid so far.

Color Guardians - It looks like a 2D platformer in the screenshots, but this is more of an auto-runner where you just swap lanes and change your gecko's colors with the face buttons to grab the colored blobs throughout each level that gets quite tough early on as a pattern recognition game. There is the notion of hitting the right button just before hitting a blob to perform a "perfect" grab, but you can just keep mashing the button to auto-perfect every blob if you can react quickly enough. It has a mobile-style three star rating system for each level, so it messes with my OCD desires to get three stars on the first attempt when I should just finish and come back later if I still care to do so. Decent game if you're up for that style of game.

My experience with Tetris Ultimate on 3DS has been nothing but positive.

Since the lowest Nintentoddlers have been able to get it for is $15, I'm actually jealous. $5 for PS4 or $7.50 for the Vita is a relative steal. Especially if you've taken Tetris for granted and not played it recently.

I have heard that the PS3 version had issues pertaining to online performance and crashes due to a large friends list, but that was ages ago.

EDIT: And man Persona 4 is the best talking to people game I've played but such a garbage RPG. I almost wish I had played on Easy so I could just triangle through this boring combat, but having enemies die too fast for me to see Twin Dragons would be a special form of missing the game.

EDIT2: For anyone taking that as a review, the RPG is like 6% of the gameplay time tops.

i dont think anyone defends the combat

I will say the beatdowns are a stupid mechanic but they are satisfying as hell.

Brosuke: "Are you ready, partner?"

Protag: " fuck THEIR SHIT UP!"

Brosuke: "GOOD ANSWER!"

Ok. So I took my ps4 to my friends and hooked it up but for some reason it was having trouble connecting. I finally got connected and now it's just slow(online/download). But his ps4 works just fine. What in the hell.

I noticed that the ps4 PS+ games have an 'add to library' option on them now. Is this the same as d.loading/purchasing them? I used to have to download, then cancel the download while it was going. I just want to make sure adding to library will still mark it as purchased.

Assuming so, thats a great little feature

From what i have read, yes just adding them to the library will tie them to your account. It is nice cause I would do the same thing having to start the download then just pause it.

The Pinball Arcade sale went live on Friday, so I updated the date to note that there was something new added. The rest were from Tuesday.
Are they part of a Flash Sale or did they just start early? That's what I'm most interested in and don't want to miss them.

If I get both Seasons will that get me all the tables? What's the Pro difference? The stuff is cross-buy on PS3 and Vita, right, but not PS4?

it wasn't a part of a flash sale, just a publisher sale that started on friday for some reason. Pro tables offer a couple of different views when playing and I believe it includes the custom balls for each table. The purchase is cross buy for ps3/vita but not PS4. There are currently 4 seasons of pinball arcade.

My haul was only Flame Over and Under Defeat HD. Looking forward to a good week of sales, but expecting EA publisher sale or something beaten like a dead horse.

Nihilumbra is a pretty decent game.  My only gripes with the iOS version (back in 2013) was feeling that the story mode had little to no challenge (it felt like a super easy mode) and that there weren't any achievements (at that time) or anything else to do in the game until Void mode unlocked.   That said, I think I'd be down to play through the game on Vita (once I buy one) for the trophies alone as that would add some challenge.  I just need a really good Vita Bundle sale and I'm there.  I've really been loving my PSTV and I think I actually have room in my life for the PS3, PSTV and a Vita.  3 for all the bigger games I missed out on.  PSTV for my lunchbreak console.  Vita for night time gaming.

That aside, I watched a little of Life is Strange being played on our PS4 last night (grabbed it Sunday).  The game seemed right up my alley.  I love the way the conversations work along with searching the environment and the time rewinding is actually quite clever.   I had it on my steam wishlist just to remind myself if it got super cheap to grab it... but now I'm thinking I may want to grab the PS3 version so I don't have to fight my kids off for the 4.   Probably the first serious sale it has I'll double dip.

Anyway...

I'm hyped for Week 2 of the Summer Sale to be revealed today.  Of course gonna grab those PS+ freebies using the web store when they show up.   It's really amazing the collection of games I've built over the last 20 months having been on the service (along with all the sales).  I get that people are going to complain no matter how good things are... but I find it really hard to complain considering there's nothing better out there in the console/handheld world.

There are probably about six hours left to grab July's PS+ games, so stragglers should hurry up or forever be branded as losers.
Forgot to consider my remaining possible purchases from this sale! Grabbing Nihilumbra. Leaning towards Unmechanical and away from the Bloodrayne games. Don't know of its worth getting Breach & Clear if the technical problems haven't been addressed. Still don't know what Don't die Mr. Robot is exactly.
