:ps4: Foul Play - $2.00 to $100.00 [customspoiler='Fine Print'] :ps4: Foul Play is a part of the PlayStation Heroes program, which means that you can pay your choice among a variety of price points for an item that is usually a theme for entries into a contest to win some prize with most of the money going to a charity. There are no details at the moment for what the prize for buying Foul Play offers, so I'll post that whenever it's announced.

Edit: From the PlayStation Heroes app on PS4, the Foul Play promotion is for a trip to PlayStation Experience in December. Once you purchase the game, you're supposed to go here to register for the actual contest, though you should wait until the page is updated for the PlayStation Experience promotion instead of whatever it's on at the moment.[/customspoiler]

I'm wondering if this is close to my last chance to get MotoGP14 on sale. I have a disc, but I'd like it digitally. The sale isn't that great on the PS4, but it seems like the games from the previous years never go on sale.
This is actually the second sale on them this year. Back in May the Vita one was $4 and the PS3 one was $5. The PS4 one was either prohibitively higher or not included in the sale.

Is the Hitman game that comes out in December the WHOLE game or does it only contain 2-3 levels?

So all this talk about Demon Gaze peaked my interest, then I see its like 40-50 hours.

Danganronpa is like another 30. Criminal Girls is like 30+

Gaming has become so affordable as a $/hr entertainment. But who's got time for all that?

Ok, but seriously. Of those 3 which one? Leaning towards Danganronpa.

Depends on what you like. Daganronpa is probably the best overall quality but if don't like Phoenix Wright style visual novels if may be a miss for you. Demon Gaze gets a lot of love from fans of dungeon crawlers. Haven't heard much good about Criminal Girls the when it was on sale previously.

It's the cheapest Danganronpa(s) has ever been digital, but Demon Gaze is $4 more than its historical low of $12 from 3 months ago.

Demon Gaze is a solid B first person dungeon crawler. There's quite a few better alternatives out there, but it gets the job done. Combat is pretty bland for trash mobs, but the bosses are good and the loot system is fun.

Danganronpa is an exceptional A pseudo VN/puzzle game. Worth it just for the story and characters. Other than maybe the 999 series, I can't think of anything else that tops it in the genre.

No idea on Criminal Girls. I'd recommend the Danganronpa games easily as the better buys over Demon Gaze and I greatly enjoy the dungeon crawlers.

Can anyone confirm that they are able to DL Cladun X2 from their Vita if they have purchsed it in the past or online?

I wanted to get X2, but only the first Cladun is appearing on my Vita store. I don't have a PS3 or PS4 to download it otherwise, but threads online suggest I may be able to buy online, have it show up in my history and download it directly on the Vita.

Gunstar pretty much nails it.

That said, I really enjoyed Demon Gaze because I like the genre. I hated danganronpa because I don't like visual novels. I bought it ages ago and it was a complete waste of money for my tastes, whereas I happily got the platinum in DG.

Criminal Girls is supposed to be good, not great. There is some sort of interesting mechanic where, iirc, your part members have their own personalities. You need to punish them to get them to do what you want, and as the game progresses you get more options/skills/etc. From what I understand, this combat mechanic is well implemented, but not being able to fully control your party bothers some people. And um.. the punishment stuff clearly bothers some people. Overall, though, i've read generally positive impressions.

Its silly this game isn't compatible though. On ios it just uses basic movement of a virtual stick and two virtual buttons. It must be one of those things where the dev doesn't care much anymore to mark it compatible and update it.
That's my guess... it's a checkbox somewhere the dev didn't check or submit properly. That's more likely than it not being compatible, and it's definitely a possibility Sony needs the 'ok' to sell it/allow it on a 'new' system.

Crimsonland is extremely good.

-----

The Castle Game actually looks really cool, though I too never heard of it.   Some games just never get attention... it usually means they are nothing special, but there are always hidden gems out there -- ones that just released at the wrong time, or have a terrible name or whatever.

-----

disgaea is great.  don't get scared off by the word 'grind'... it's so different in disgaea.  It's not mindless grinding for no reason like in most games, it's more like the designers decided to build the entire game around grinding and made it interesting.     Really solid games.

The ones that came out before the PS TV I think all have had to download a small compatibility patch but it's super small. I imagine that while it's basically just a matter of enabling it they still have to go back and add whatever lines of code and/or files to it that the system requires. I would think that's probably why it happens in one region and not another when the publishing rights are split across regions.

From what I understand, this combat mechanic is well implemented, but not being able to fully control your party bothers some people.
Just would like to throw my favorable opinion on Criminal Girls following this. Not being able to fully control the girls actions were a big plus for me because:

1. Keeps the combat fresh. In comparison, in Demon Gaze I just had mostly the same sequence for every non-boss fight.

2. Makes the player feel like the girls' warden through this indirect control.

I am enjoying Criminal Girls quite a bit....I dare say even more than my time with Demon Gaze. The girls have fun personalities and the story is alright. Also the fights are interesting with the girls choosing what they want to do. The punishment games I'm mixed on but they're not extremely hard other than the rear touch screen stuff. It's a bit simple for a dungeon crawler but it's still fun. Both it and Demon Gaze are likely the best dungeon crawlers on the Vita so far.

I assume you already got it working, but ClaDun x2 does appear in the Vita download list (of your purchased games), and does install and run just fine. However, if you search for it using the Vita store search function, it won't appear at all. Maybe it has something to do with the funky spelling; the game is named "ClaDun x2" (note the weird capitalization), but even using the weird spelling, the x2 game won't come up with a store search.

Anyone that likes physics puzzle games, King Oddball is fantastic.  It ate up most of my game time today.  For those not in the know your character has a long tongue which he uses to hold rocks and fling them at enemies from a stationary position.  It's less about destroying structures as it is about reflecting the shot off one enemy into another and so on.  I loved this game on iOS and it has been good fun going through it on my PSTV for trophies and the memories.

On a side note, I've been looking at grabbing a Vita Borderlands 2 Bundle on Amazon.  What is making it extra tempting is they have an offer up at my Amazon cart that I can get $75 off of any purchase if I apply for their visa card.  I'm really tempted to do that as it'll make the bundle $117.89 total.  I looked for reviews on the card and most were actually pretty positive.  Any reason I should not consider that option?

Yeah, I actually downloaded the demo awhile ago, and thought it was rather good. I got it free on Android awhile ago, and since space is an issue on my Vita, I think I'll skip this version, but I will recommend it as well, it's a pretty decent .99 style game.

Really appreciated all the feedback on Criminal Girls, Demon Gaze, and Danganronpa.

Of course now it's just more difficult to make a decision. And I will not submit to the backlog god and buy them all. We must be strong.

The Backlog God need more sacrifices! :whee:

Out of the three I think Criminal Girls interest me the most. It's a little bit different.

For me it's Danganronpa > Criminal Girls > Demon Gaze.

Danganronpa is the odd one out with the VN elements but it's great. A solid story and cast that keeps you playing. I beat it within 5 nights playing after work, and for me that's very quick.

Criminal Girls is pretty fun and I like the story enough as well as the characters. Does require grinding and you can see the psp roots easily. I do like it and feel it's worth playing and beating.

Demon Gaze is liked by a lot on here. To me it's a bit too simple in classes and such, but does look excellent (the art for the monsters espiecially). It also has a fair challenge. Good overall but missing something special.

From Danganronpa's wikipedia page, "Whilst in one of the various rooms, players move a crosshair cursor which is used to initiate conversations with characters or examine parts of the environment." The sounds similar enough to Snatcher and Rise of the Dragon that I'll give the game a try.

Silly me. I started debating buying the second one. Maybe I shouldn't because I don't know if I'll like the games, or maybe I should because I'll regret not buying the second one if I like the first one. Then I realized buy the first one, and actually play it before the sale ends. If I get into it I'll buy the second one. If not it was worth a shot. I've been curious about these games since getting a Playstation TV.

Bolded option seems like the best bet. Should give you a few days to try out the first one and see if the 2nd is worth getting.

Combat / dungeon design / class wise, I think Operation Abyss is by far the best dungeon crawler / drpg currently released, at least in NA. Hopefully Dungeon Travelers 2 is even better. And I hope Stranger in Sword City comes over because that looks ridiculously good.

Demon Gaze is the best 'beginner friendly' one though.

Picking up Criminal Girls... I think. I can't decide if I like the price or want to risk waiting for <=$10. Every time I think a game won't go lower, it does... and every time I skip a game thinking it'll go lower it disappears from the store altogether or something.

already picked up a bunch of other stuff this week and last too... hrm.

Wish they had a rollout schedule, really want to know when it'll be here in Phoenix.. I just cut DirecTV last month and tried Sling and it's terrible but heard good things about Vue.
what problems did you have with sling? ive had it since february and it works great for me. seems like a good value for $20, espn, amc, history channels and disney/cartoon network for the kids. way better than the lowest cost cable/satellite anyway.

Danganronpa is wonderful but stupid. The two clever assholes are supposed to be antagonistically sparring but they mostly come off as special needs kids having slap fights. The mysteries are all sub-Encyclopedia Brown tier. The first case in Ace Attorney 1 is harder than pretty much every single challenge in DR1 except for one puzzle in the final case.

But man it's charming. The ending is just wonderfully done.

Of course, DR2 is generally a better game but I think it flubs the worldcraft and suggests to me the series is gonna get even dumber very quickly. Still absolutely worth playing, not a let down except on peripheral things that won't impact your enjoyment of the game proper, but I think it doesn't have the magic of the first.

Oh and Ghost Trick is still the king of this subgenre even if that's more puzzle adventure.

It sucks on the XBone but works well for me on everything else I have it on - PC, Fire Stick, sideloaded on a Fire tablet, and smartphone.

I'm using it on Xbox and it is a mess..

First thing is they don't allow fast forwarding or skipping through commercials on the cloud DVR channels which makes it near worthless, but on top of that only a handful of channels even offer the cloud DVR in the first place.

The being unable to fast forward and commercial skip presents an even larger problem that if you are watching something in the cloud dvr and the app crashes, you have to rewatch everything you just watched because it doesn't remember where you were at in the show and you can't advance to the point you were at.

Speaking of crashes, it crashes a ton.. good chance if you are watching a 1 hour show in the cloud dvr you are likely going to crash, and if it doesn't crash you get anxiety that it's going to because you don't want to have to rewatch the entire episode again.

In prime time hours the streaming becomes very bad to where it looks like you are looking through bathroom glass to watch the shows.

There is also an annoying thing that happens when watching live tv that when a show ends the entire stream freezes up for a few seconds.. almost like it's saving to the cloud dvr but feels like the app crashed, so you wait in anticipation hoping it recovers and isn't an app crash.

It may be better on other devices, I'm only doing the free 30-day trial on Xbox, but I'm cancelling before the trial is up because in my opinion the service is not ready for prime time. And it's not my internet, I have 100/20 internet so it has nothing to do with bandwidth.

Just know that you will want the second one if you enjoyed the first one. The story gives a much better whole picture when you play the two in order.

Great, so what you are really saying is I should buy both Danganronpa 1 & 2. Backlog be damned!

Are they at least not so tedious to get the platinum? I really liked VLR, but the last like 10 hours of trophies was kind of a slog. And just about ruined all the goodwill the game had built up.

The guides say one story mode and then 4 of the school/island modes. About 30-40 hours each.

Pier Solar PS4.

How To Survive PS4.

Both in cart, should I pull the trigger?

Pier solar I would rather have on Vita.. but it's not out yet, highly doubt they will make it crossbuy in the future.

How To Survive, I own it on PC but have not finished it. How does it play on console?

Watched some gameplay's of Demon Gaze, $16 is a little steep for me.

Everyone praises the Disgaea series, If I've never played any.. which is the best on the Vita? (old reviews/post etc show 4,then 2, 1, 3)

Nothing else in this sale remotely temps me, or I already own.
