I think so. They're at least more fun to the point where I refuse to play a song on any lower difficulty unless it's required for an unlockable (e.g., "Play on every difficulty"). Some songs are even more fun on Extreme.

FYI, be prepared to switch out modules for non-Miku characters since you need to play 50 songs with each one to unlock several items. I recommend doing that while going for the challenges.

Well that's good at least. I'll probably finish up Tearaway before going back to Miku (I hate switching carts on VIta) and then push through the normal difficulty.

Are the unlocks required for the plat more focused on playing songs this time? The part I hated about the first one was all the relationship stuff

You're right, I forgot. That kinda makes me a little more worried. I'm supposed to hear back from Newegg today, if it doesn't show that it's shipped they're supposed to ship a replacement apparently. We'll see how it goes.

Uh...yes and no? You definitely have a lot of song-playing ahead of you (e.g., get a total score of 3,930,000 for a specific song across all plays, get a total score of 8,000,000 for a different song across all plays, the aforementioned 50-songs-with-every-character, etc.), but you also have to get the affinity levels for each character up to Level 6 (not just Level 5 for the trophies like in the previous game) to unlock a few things. You also have to get all Events with the various room items/gifts.

Each time I play, I first go into each Diva Room and interact as much as possible with the characters to boost their affinity, then go on to the Rhythm Game proper. Hopefully that will minimize the amount of time I'll have to just stay in the Diva Rooms--they're up to Level 4 right now.

I am going to have to decide if I want to use Burnout or Shadows of Mordor for plat #300.  

For Burnout, I really just have the Burnout license left to do (40 more events).  It appears I will unlock the van I need to take down after 1 more event.  I know I could go ahead and get a Road Rage with it since I have it from the DLC, but I might as well wait to really unlock it.

I should be getting Shadows of Mordor in the mail sometime in the next couple of days.  At least I have 1 game I really like as an option.  I expect that I will like Mordor as well and that will make the decision a bit more difficult.

 
waaaait a minute, isn't there a 'trade in any game, get a 20% off a game coupon' promo going on at target now too? so basically any game for up to 35% off with red card if you go pick up a $2 game at gamestop for trade fodder (fuzzy math style)? or am I forgetting what the promo is?

Templar isn't really that bad. The strategy we decided on for a flawless run is to stick to the right side as a group, take out any oracles that are within shooting distance/sight, and cleanse if we miss any. We created a ton of orbs during the oracle section, so I was getting supers like crazy with the relic. We had him down to about half health, and then Jay fucked us over and pulled an idiot move. After that we just had to bail because one of the dudes needed to go. The run before that we went through the whole thing, and passed the gatekeeper/Atheon with one death that I don't think would've happened if we were still flawless at that point. The hardest/most unpredictable part is still the jumping section.

By the way, this conversation actually happened last night:

Jay: Should I use Gjallarhorn or Icebreaker?
Me: Gjallarhorn as long as you don't forget about the detainment before firing.

Two minutes later, Jay dies.

Jay: Shit, I forgot about the detainment before I shot my rocket.
