You people voting for Feb 15 are completely wrong for one reason.

Thief.

That turd of a game makes that month the worst ever in the history of recorded time of playstation plus.

It's actually smart as it easily stands out the most. Half of the names on there look more like some tribal tattoo design and are difficult if not impossible for me to make out the band name.
I agree it stands out and yeah I cant read most of the names of those bands but it still looks very out of place.

Everything else (except maybe Kick & Fennick) redeemed that month.

Kick & Fennick was fun. I enjoyed it.

Seriously, why do people like Animal Crossing? My wife bought the Wii game and I just could not figure out what the point of it was. What's my goal? What should I be doing?

October 2014 gave us Batman: AA, which was the best game in the series (IMHO), and arguably one of the greatest games of that generation.

I think by that point though, everyone had played it, so giving away for free didn't have as much of an impact.

Getting a new wife. ZING!

But the real answer is ruining all your neighbor's flowerbeds with your shovel.

I only played the Gamecube one, but it was basically just a cutesy life sim, like The Sims.

There were things to do like collect all the fish and fossils, and some of the fish were pretty damn rare. You could also collect furniture and set up your house however you want and basically set up your town however you want too. It was fun. I put a lot of time into it at first, then after a while I'd basically just play it about 20 minutes each day, do that day's tasks, then shut it off. Kind of like how mobile games are now actually.

I liked it cuz it wasn't overwhelming. Not dumb like the sims where you have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes and do stupid menial tasks. It struck a good balance where basically everything you could do was fun, at least to me.

But this new game is just a party game created to sell amiibo.

There's no real point. Its like the sims but cuter. Make your house cute, try to get the best villagers, fill in your bug/fish log. Get all the fossils. If you don't really like pointless collecting or cuteness for the sake of cute then yeah, you're not gonna like it.

Edit: What Tyler Said

It bears some passing similarities to Minecraft if you've ever tried that. It's just more structured than Minecraft.

I agree with everything said here.

Then Spelunky went and ruined the month because it made me try the game. Yuck.

I think someone asked me why I hate Amiibo.

It basically boils down to this is Nintendo now. Copying things like Skylanders and not even doing them as well while blatantly whoring out their IP while not actually giving us the games in their respective series(s) that we as gamers really want. It's also the babification of a large number of their IPs which used to be fun for all ages but some are just looking to hit that 4-8 age group now. It signifies all that is wrong with Nintendo ignoring the advances the industry as a whole has taken. It's nice to be different and unique but not when you are doing it in your own la la bubble where you aren't hearing anything.

It's nice there is an option for young kids I guess, but with Lego Games, Skylanders, etc. etc. there are still plenty of better and cheaper options out their nowadays and I'm not even talking about mobile or tablet games.

It's also quite frustrating to see these hold me over until the next gen comes out games like Metroid Federation Force and Zelda Three Swords or whatever it's called that do very little to help those respective brands. I'm sure they are fun enough but honestly,

NINTENDO NEEDS NEW BLOOD!

Miyamoto should step aside (as great as he is \ was) and get some new talent in there that grew up with a love for Nintendo and can lead it into an era of renewed greatness.

How in the hell does a hardware designer in a telecom company pronounce gig (as in gigabit) as jig? He keeps saying it over and over on this conference call and it is driving me crazy.
Hate to shatter your world, but the masses are apparently wrong on this one. Giga- is derived from the Latin word for "giant" so it was originally pronounced with a J sound. That's the reason Doc Brown uses Jigawatt In Back to the Future as that was the more common usage at the time. But eventually some people started pronouncing it like giggle, possibly because jigabyte / jigabit when said out loud overlaps with so many of the syllables of the slur jigaboo. Is the hardware designer really old?

I'd love to see some new entries from my favorite Nintendo series' too. But I think you're overestimating the number of systems something like a new Metroid would move and underestimating the amount of money to be made by targeting that younger market. We as hardcore gamers don't like the approach, but I can understand why they're doing it as a company out to make money.

I don't fully agree that they're only trying to market to younger kids and whore out their franchises, though. I've enjoyed just about every first party game they've released for Wii U. They're all well made. Not rushed out to make a quick buck like a lot of Activision's stuff. There are definitely games I'd rather see them make, but what can you do?

And I was the one baitin' you about amiibos. I was just asking why the sudden change of heart (you bought some.. now you want to throw them in the trash). The concept is a rip-off of Skylanders, but from my uninformed perspective they look to be superior in just about every way: They're characters people already know and like, they're pretty well made (judging from the one I own), and they can be used in a variety of games (vs just one game). I dunno. I just like being contrarian to you, jkam.

I realize it does come down to the all mighty dollar at the end of the day. If they are making money then why not? The problem is say that enough times and before you know it you no longer have what you once had and people stop caring.

I get your counterpoints but honestly I feel as if I said my piece in my last post, it's really just how I feel.

Yuck. "We won't price match it if it's sold out online."
At least it has to be sold out in order to not honor it. I remember going to Walmart one time not knowing they didnt honor their own online prices and being told that I had to order online to get the online price!

Has Walmart since changed that policy? It was so yucky.

I had the same thing happen at a target once. So dumb.
