fuck no. Ok it is like eating a peanut butter oreo dipped in chocolate. I guess.

fuck, that last boss in Geomery Wars is exhausting. I made it to a stage where there were a bunch of yellow things and thought that had to be the end. I was already at 17 million, but nope, there was more. What the fuck.

Some coworkers mentioned the "Marshmallow Test" today in a meeting and I didn't know what it was. Educate yourselves now, for fear that the same could happen to you!

I didn't know it was called "the Marshmallow Test" but I've heard of that delayed gratification exercise before. Tell the child you can have this marshmallow now, or if they wait X minutes they can have 2 marshmallows instead.

Scoured over my posts from last year when I was compiling my top games of 2014 list I cut and pasted all my comments on each game and re-read over them. Some of them were extensive enough that when added all together they are about reviewish length, so with a tiny bit of editing I give you Review: Jazz Editions, when your too lazy to do a proper review. First up, Assassin's Creed 1 Review

Lol no, I was just impressed since he hasn't played it much and managed to do that with those terrible touch screen controls.

Are the stock issues figured out? Seems like there's been a lot of decent deals on the BL2 bundle lately, along with all the great PS TV deals. If people can actually find them then we might be seeing a good bump.
Every Gamestop store in the metro Atlanta area had multiples. That has been the case for quite some time ever since right after they ran the promo for $110 for trading in Vitas.

Started playing Deception IV, not really into it so far. I'm going to give it a few more chapters but if it doesn't grab my attention I'm just going to sell it.

Serious question: Should I post any of the noteworthy Gamestop -> Amazon flips that occasionally pop up in the Amazon TIV thread? I recall most of you not being all that keen on the whole flipping thing.
I used to run the old cag flip thread before they turned off all groups in cag.

I think it would be way too hard for someone who didn't watch them way back when. The pacing of TV shows has just changed so much. He's still my favorite doctor, though.
I just watched a few clips on youtube and yeah that's outdated. I'd have to say David Tennant then as that's the only other one I watched and liked.

If I want to get started with Doctor Who, where do I start?
Old Who are serials and 30 minutes long, so one tale is told (and often stretched) over 4-8 episodes.

New Who are hour long mostly standalone episodes, usually with a light season long arc, and sometimes two-part episodes.

I started with New Who from the beginning then tried watching the earliest episodes of the Old Who and I found it pretty tedious. It's like 27 seasons or something so there are apparently a lot of good serials over the years, but that involves finding lists of recommendations. So for now I would just start at the beginning of the revival series. They lightly reference things which have happened in the old series, but it is more like a reboot then a sequel series.

There are also specials between the seasons, Christmas specials and sometimes special specials. When you watch them on the discs they put them in the proper order, but if streaming them often they lump all the specials together. So here is the order

http://rothwell.im/etc/doctor-who/ep-list.html

Generally you just need to check the list whenever you get to the end of a season.

Tom Baker episodes to watch:

  • City of Death (especially if you like Douglas Adams)
  • Genesis of the Daleks (classic)
  • The Talons of Weng-Chiang
  • Pyramids of Mars
Peter Davison: watch anything with a commentary track. Brilliant stuff. But Earthshock is probably the best episode. Or Caves of Androzani.

I wasn't a huge fan of the UNIT stuff (Pertwee), and apparently the best Troughton stuff is lost. I haven't really liked what I saw of the stuff that's out there.

Colin Baker is dreadful, Sylvester McCoy is too silly, and the movie they did for FOX (Paul McGann) was horrendous.

Don't skip Eccleston. Everything, specials included, is on Netflix and in order (unless I'm mistaken) so no problems there. I'm at the end of season 5 which has been my favorite season so far, with 4 coming in a close second. I'm glad I gave it a fair shot.

Alright, two levels left in Geometry Wars. I've three starred all ove them up to this point, so I should be almost done with Adventure mode. I just got the dying time trophy too, which seems like it shouldn't be that tough to get but had a pretty low percentage.
I finally restarted my student Amazon Prime and didn't realize how many additional shows it had. Haven't watched any of the HBO shows at all. Should I start Sopranos, Boardwalk, The Wire, etc?

Dish Network is going to have a streaming TV service for $20 a month, but it's pretty limited. However it *does* include ESPN and ESPN2:

The main shortcoming, aside from not having a lot of channels, is that it will only allow one stream at a time. You can't watch on more than one TV/device at a time. That's dumb. But it gets the ball rolling, at least.
Bah I wish it allowed two streams but ESPN, TNT, and Food Network is enticing.

I'm all for it.

Cool, I might go back and check these out some time. I've been interested in checking out the old ones but didn't know if it was worth my time.

Yeah you gotta watch the Sopranos. It's the best.

I think there's only one season of Boardwalk on there.

Of course. And The Wire is in HD now and 16:9. I only watched the first episode of the remaster, but it looks fantastic. I know purists will hate it, but it should be much more accessible to people coming to it for the first time, and it gives me an excuse to watch again.

Edit: Crap, but that might only be on HBOGo? Not sure.

That million geoms trophy is total crap. My math was way off and I've probably got another 12 hours of farming for it presently having 500k. Gag me with a deaf smurf!

Edit goddamn you autocorrect, I'm leaving it.
