also, pharm - you've got the heart of a champion. I wrangled my way up to rank 10 in rivals and I'm already feeling a bit burnt. That rank 60 grind must've been rough. I'll concede that it's worse than the collectibles in every possible way.

The banking sp thing is a super obnoxious mechanic too. I appreciate the added risk/reward aspects of it, but fuck it just makes me not want to play when I get wrecked by 4 cops 5 feet from a hideout with 250k ready to bank.

I would say the same to you about the fighting games which take WAY longer to grind. I just like arcade racers a lot so I can stick with NFS and Burnout games unlike fighting games which are only fun for a short period of time for me. Which is to say I like seeing all the finishing moved in MKX and then once I see them all I drop the mic, peace out.

Rivals really takes a long time to get going. The cars are terrible in the beginning and not just cause they are slow, but they handle terribly and the cops are relentless. Hell yeah the collectables were so much better because it got you exploring the entire map which I really enjoy. I have played over 15 hours now and am just now finding a bunch of shortcuts that I never knew existed because you fly by them so fast during a race. There are a lot of details to the map which is awesome, but sucky that you cant find them.

Best Buy has the usual vita suspects on sale as it continues to decimate its stock:

wolf among us $10
twd s2 $15
gow collection $15
borderlands 2 $20
freedom wars $20

In Rivals, the fun part about being a cop is not having to worry about getting busted.

The not so fun part is having other cops getting in the god damn way and making me wreck and not gold an event.  The other cops literally do nothing other than get in the way.  Even the road block tech perk is only useful half the time and thats only when you upgrade it all the way and spam it by tapping the button repeatedly.

Whatever the toughest one is. I know I won't play it twice so I might as well go for broke.
I think I played it on normal first and had to go back to it on Hardcore. Which added about 20 hours to my time if the guide is right. So you could plat this in about 50 hours if you get through Hardcore which isnt that bad. I mean I did it, so it must be easy.

But if you quit halfway through I wont look down on you. It may be too difficult and grindy for you. I know you hate grinds.

I only like grinds that I can absent mindedly watch TV and do at the same time! Actually I doubt anyone really likes doing grindy video game stuff.

I liked doing the "grind" to 75% completion in JC2 so much that I didn't even consider it grinding.
JC2 and Burnout Paradise are probably the only games I can say this about. But we all must enjoy some aspects of grinding since we all do it for certain games or genres we enjoy.

I was going to make Mad Max the first movie I saw in a theater in a while, but my mom ruined that by making me take her to see Age of Adeline yesterday for Mother's Day.

Now I need to see Mad Max more than ever.  Although I will say Adeline wasnt too bad.  Mainly cause Blake Lively is gorgeous.

I've never seen any of the original Mad Max films. Are they worth checking out? Doesn't look like they are on Netflix or Amazon prime, so I would probably have to spend money to actually see them (rent or buy).

The Road Warrior is amazing. A must-see. Mad Max 1 is pretty good. Thunderdome was only OK.

There's a trophy in treasures of montezuma blitz that requires playing the game for 100 hours (and there's no known exploits). 2500 people have it on psnp.

The only bad thing I can say about Just Cause 2 is that the trophy image is exactly the same for every single trophy.  They didnt even bother to change the color.  Normally, I dont care that much about images, but its pretty sad they couldnt even match the color of the trophy.

A lot of people get really bent out of shape about trophy images. I generally do not care, but that one is the most obvious example of it being mailed in that I can recall.

Not having any luck doing the Team Sonic online trophy for Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed (Vita PS+ title) with randoms so I started a boosting session for tomorrow.

http://psnprofiles.com/gaming-sessions/55193-Sonic-and-All-Stars-Racing-Transformed

It's pretty easy as long as everyone cooperates, need ideally 5 people, but apparently AI racers count toward it too if they happen to randomly select the missing characters. Need a multiplayer game with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow (which is an unlockable character that I have already unlocked) and you have to win that race in order to get the trophy. This also gets you the Race Leader (1st place in a multiplayer game) Trophy. If you are not signed up for PSNprofiles so that you can't join the session, just CAG PM me your PSN, it is at 7PM CST tomorrow. If we have five it should take less than 30 minutes to get all the online trophies.

I already have the plat, but I might join if you need a fifth.

Destructoid's Lost Orbit review: http://www.destructoid.com/review-lost-orbit-291882.phtml

All in all, Lost Orbit is a winner. At about two to three hours to get through its campaign, it doesn't overstay its welcome, but it can definitely last longer for those who want to go for all the platinum medals. It is only ever as easy or as hard as the player wants it to be, and it does that through smart design rather than by artificial difficulty tweaks. Boiled down to its essence it's a game about dodging obstacles, which isn't exactly an amazing concept. But it takes that concept and runs with it, doing its dodging thing well.
Waiting on that IA review, Tyler.

Really glad I brought my vita + cord to work today. I forgot how long it takes to transfer memory cards. I'd have been pissed if I tried to do this at home during actual gaming time. Backup has already taken an hour or so and its not even halfway.  Kinda hoping vita tvs go on flash sale again, then I can just use the old memory card in there.

I'd be down for this if another group wants to do it an hour or two later.

Yeah 7p is just a bit too early for me also. I'll join up with zimm unless guardian owl wants to move it to 8p? I guess I should see if I have the game too.

I'm sure it's just a coincidence that as soon as I scheduled the cancelation of my U-verse account that my internet starts working like crap……right?

Maybe later today or tomorrow probably. Pretty much exactly what that guy said, except the "easy or as hard as the player wants it to be" part feels more to me like a lack of a true identity. The game wants you to go as fast as possible, except for in parts that basically require you to slow down. I wish it had gone with the Velocity-style of making you want to hold turbo the entire time.

It's not a major drawback. But lots of times I just wanted to go as fast as I could, and when I did I was usually punished by slamming into a stray asteroid. You're basically rewarded for not going as fast as possible, which to me kind of defeated the purpose of the game.

The trophy card image looks pretty cool, too.
