Random game update: I'm almost done with Bayonetta. I'm really digging it. It kind of feels like a more accessible version of Platinum's other games gameplay/difficulty wise which is nice. I'm really looking forward to jumping into Bayo 2 once I finish the first up
GOTGeneration.

The Dark Crystal is now on Netflix. I've been wanting to see that again. I loved it when I was a kid. Not sure how well it holds up.

Also Apocalypse Now (and Redux) and other stuff:

Apocalypse Now is an interesting movie to me, in that the actual plot is kinda weird and doesn't do that much for me, but the setting, action sequences, locations, and acting are all such a joy to watch that it makes it a great movie anyway. The first time I saw it I didn't even care how it ended, it just knew I loved watching it get there.

Yeah if you cheese the game using the save state it gives you instead of playing it like it's intended to be played.
It's kind of unnecessary to be honest. Even if you did lose, you can restart at the beginning of the planet you started on with all the upgrades you had to that point. They're only 20 waves long and waves are anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds in length.

I have 11 physical games right now, how did this happen? AHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

I'm tired.

Tomorrow is my Friday. Friday is also my Friday.

So how many out of 12,300 will see outside of the box?

When does the smaller PS4 with the LCD screen launch?

I dislike most art like paintings and sculptures because most of what is considered "fine" art looks like something a 3rd grader could do. A cool photograph is almost always nicer to look at than a painting. Especially if the painting is from someone like Picasso or Andy Warhol. They just threw shit up on a canvas and somehow people are convinced they should spend thousands or even millions on it. Same thing with those contemporary sculptures they like to put in art galleries.
The first time I could say "ok, this is objectively stupid to call this fine art" is when I heard about the "Voice of Fire".

Holy crap, slow down and take a deep breath.

You guys see the trailer for the Terminator trailer? I'm not going to get hyped for this one at all after how dull the last one was. Maybe I'll end up pleasantly surprised (heck I even liked T3).

And did we talk about Jared Leto being cast as the Joker in the Suicide Squad move? Color me curious.

Too much action, not enough characterization and dialog. 0/10.

Somebody was talking about Surgeon Simulator a day or two back, right? Here's the new game from the same studio:

Oh goody, I almost forgot we live in a world with trailers for trailers.

And who the fuck compares giant fighting robots to golf?!? Transformers are huge and golf is tiny. Not to mention that in golf you're trying to do as little as possible while hitting a tiny ball with a stick, NOT RUNNING FOR YOUR LIFE FROM HUGE fuckING ROBOTS THAT ARE BLOWING SHIT UP WITH THEIR HUGE fuckING MISSILES.

But I guess it's okay to compare the movies since THEY'RE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME GENRE.

HOLEEEEEEEEEE fuck

The blog asked a bunch of devs their top 3 psone games. Gonna post mine here cause why not. I also have no idea how they only picked 3.

1. Final fantasy tactics
2. Chrono cross
3. The legend of dragoon

So many more I could pick from though. We spent months playing mp on Tony hawk 2 and smackdown 2 know your role. Good times

Ugh. Just realized I downloaded the censored version of 2Pac's All Eyez on Me on amazon.  The explicit version is unlisted because all but one song is free via prime. Weird.

So my understanding from all this garbage I'm reading while catching up on the thread is that I can't not like something without being pretentious and cynical?  That everything in the world has redeeming qualities?

There's more to it than that. The way you talk about it, your reasons, etc. You know, context, the thing you always clamor about.

So I was talking about the movie A Christmas Story which is such a great holiday movie. I heard somebody say what's that movie I never seen or heard of it. My reaction was WTF are you serious and the were being honest.

I couldn't believe someone grew up and never seen that movie.
Especially since they do/did a 24 hour marathon of it on TBS every year.

I still haven't played 2 or 3. FFT was great, though. I still need to play through WotL in order to see the better translation. I know I've got LoD. Not sure on CC.

Mine would probably be, without giving too much thought to it:

1. Crash Bandicoot
2. Metal Gear Solid
3. Final Fantasy VII

If you're just skimming, you might think that. But no, you're way off base from the points that were being made there.

I've only played a small handful of PSone games, so I can only really think of two. They were great though, and I played them recently:

1. Metal Gear Solid

2. Suikoden

I watched last night's Flash during my lunch, so for Therm and Backlog (since you guys were talking about it earlier):

I liked the episode and (surprise) didn't have all the problems Therm did with it.  I actually really don't understand why you think he should have apologized to Eddie.  First Eddie wants to get a task force to catch Flash, then Flash attacks Eddie, then Eddie DOES get the task force (which Barry would've heard about).  Even if Flash apologized to him immediately after he was "cured" Eddie's not going to just be like "oh, well in that case, let's be buddies!"  But he did apologize for Iris because he loves her and he betrayed her trust since she did stick up for him when Eddie was saying he's trouble.

I think the things you're glossing over is that: 1) Eddie and most other people still don't really believe in the fact that meta-humans exist (so "sorry I attacked you, I got mind controlled" really wouldn't work).  Eddie specifically said he doesn't know how Flash gets to all the crime scenes so fast.  All of the bad guys that have been captured are in the star labs jail, not real jail.  Most people haven't actually interacted with any meta-humans (Eddie actually wasn't there when the police confronted the bad guy in last night's episode, it was just Joe and 3 random swat dudes), so people are still in the state of mind of just trying to explain what has happened by saying it's something normal (when Plastique died and they said it was just the army testing explosives).  And 2) They didn't just pull an Eddie/Flash rivalry out of thin air in the episode just to advance the plot or get the characters into certain situations.  Barry is jealous of Eddie since he's dating Iris and Eddie is jealous of Flash since Iris is obsessed with him.  Everything in this episode is just escalating their rivalry and pushing it closer to a show down that will happen later this season.

I also don't understand why you're so hellbent against secret identities.  Basically any time someone finds out a superhero's identity, it's bad news for them.  I don't think telling Iris would really solve anything for Barry.

Also, I like Arrow and am glad that it and its darker tone came out before Flash did.  Having said that, Therm, you're going to hate it since you said that flashbacks are the worst method of storytelling ever and that show is half flashbacks.

And just for backlog:

Now that I'm all caught up on both Arrow and Flash for this season, I am kind of disappointed with Arrow this season.  It's fine, but the flashbacks definitely seem like they didn't know what the hell they were going to do between his island time and the start of the show.  He became a badass on the island, but in HK, he seems like he's reverted back to a spoiled rich kid who can't do anything for himself.  I really don't understand what the deal with that is.  I don't know why it seems like they've just left the league of assassins stuff and the merlyn/thea stuff just hanging there ignoring it.  I guess they're just filling up some time before Laurel becomes Canary and then they'll really get back to Sarah's death and all the other stuff.

Speaking of Canary, I don't know what's going to happen in Flash as far as Anti-Flash goes.  I am not super familiar with Flash, so I took a little look on wikipedia before the show started just so I would have some idea about the supporting characters.  Like Canary being Sarah before it eventually becomes Laurel, I think they're going to have a curve ball with Anti-Flash too.  I heard that the showrunners don't know how long the show will stick around, so they're going to get to all the Wells mystery/Anti-Flash/Barry's mom's murder stuff sooner rather than later or dragging it out for 2 or 3 seasons.  My guess is we'll find out Wells is from the future and is Anti-Flash, killed Barry's mom when he first got to this era (as his first step in guiding Barry to becoming the Flash), started inventing technology that is common from his home era and stuff, but then eventually maybe Wells dies and Eddie gets powers in the same accident and then Eddie becomes Anti-Flash after that.  I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

1. Spyro 3
2. Crash Bandicoot 3
3. Metal Gear Solid (though I didn't play it until a year ago. It holds up surprisingly well)
I haven't played spyro or crash.

I've been trying to get spyro for awhile on AWD, but I don't want to spend $20 for an acceptable copy. And crash I want to play, but don't know if it's worth adding to my backlog or not

Don't you have a PS3? Aren't they available on PSN for $6 each?

And Spyro holds up better than Crash in my opinion. I play through the Spyro games about once a year, I stopped playing Crash 3 years ago

My PS1 Top 3...Hmm...

1. Final Fantasy VII

2. Valkyrie Profile

3. Chrono Cross

It doesn't feel right posting just three, though.

I prefer physical over digital, so at least for Spyro I would like to get black labels to add to my collection
Gotcha. I don't remember if I have them physical or not. For whatever reason, I kept a lot of PS games despite getting rid of almost every other game from my childhood

Yeah I feel like Arrow has been spinning it's wheels this season, but I think it's getting back on track. The Fall finale has Ollie visiting the League of Assassins (revealed on Facebook today), so I'm hoping that will breathe life back into the show.

As far as Flash, I'm really interested in finding out exactly how the Dr. Wells and Eddie situations play out. I'm enjoying it.

They were also .99 cents not that long ago. Crash and Spyros.

Yay PS1 games!

1. Metal Gear Solid

2. Soul Reaver

3. Twisted Metal 3.. that's right, I said 3. My cousin was given it randomly and it was my first foray into the series. We played it non stop for like months. Eventually I played 2 and really liked that also, but I have a lot more great memories tied to 3.

Yeah if you cheese the game using the save state it gives you instead of playing it like it's intended to be played.
He's actually probably not all that far off. I think my psnprofiles says I did it in 3:40, but I was not super focused with it and I basically replayed the entire game over because I got to the last boss and wasn't really powered up enough for it. So the second run I just did better and got more money so I was in better shape at the end.

Wait, we're talking about Secret Ponchos, right? Because that's the game I'm talking about. Yep. The most secret of all the ponchos.
