If you've never had a free spotify premium trial or signed up for premium they have 3 months for .99 cents right now. I signed up :)
I think if you previously had Spotify Premium you don't get this. Every time I sign in it goes back to $9.99 a month.

His first half of the year was awesome, but his second half wasn't that impressive. But sure he was a big deal. I just think he's aging and having to have a long contract for him wouldn't pay off in the long run.
Eh, if I'm an AL club I'll take him for the contract he got. Right-handed power is hard to come by.

I don't care about the dropped trophies or lack of Platinum. I'm getting Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris next week! I loved the first one.

Since we all like to talk about the games we are currently playing, I just want to say that Dragon Age Inquisition is freaking fantastic. I have so much stuff to play right now, but I keep going right back to Dragon Age. I'm still pretty early and have only been to a few areas, but they are all huge and lots of fun to explore. If any recent release is worth picking up at full price, this is it. PSA over.

Would it be a good point to start the series? I tried playing the first one a few months ago and didn't dig the combat so I gave up after a few hours

Interesting. I've seen others say all the sidequest stuff is bad and that the best thing is to focus on the main quest.

what about the combat... see I have never like RPGs that are somewhat turn based (set up the attacks, then the AI takes over and does them. My favorite RPG of all time was jade empire because it was an action RPG that let me have full control of the character in battle. I wasn't a fan of Dragon Age when i tried it out.

Stotch, have you seen any more info on the commendation things for vangaurd and crucible rep?

New Rank Commendations
  • In addition to Crucible or Vanguard Marks, purchasing new Legendary items will require a Crucible or Vanguard Commendation
  • Commendations are received in Reputation Reward Packages delivered by the Postmaster upon reaching a new Reputation Level
Either rep levels need to change to come a LOT faster, or the new before legendary means the new legendary items introduced with the expansion.

If nothing changes on that, people will just be sitting on 200 vanguard marks and not able to buy anything other than upgrade materials, which is stupid.

what the what

The game was good when I remember playing it on the ps3. Too bad that they never brought it over since the translations seem fairly simple since there really wasn't a story.

Best Buy will have a B2G1 on all PS/Xbox/PC games next week: https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/339503-best-buy-ad-127-1213-buy-2-get-1-free-all-playstation-xbox-pc-games/

I need a third game to lump in with The Wolf Among Us and TWD S1 ( :ps4:)... :whistle2:k
Damn too bad vita games don't counts. Oh well at least I'll get kingdom 2.5

Kind of reminds me of Solstice on the NES:

That pretty much sums up my issues. I loved Jade Empire and the Mass Effect games, wasn't a huge fun of DA and I never really got into KOTOR either.

I'm assuming that DA:I doesn't really change the combat up

Yea I forced my way through KoToR because I am such a big Star Wars fan... but it would have been perfect had it had the Jade combat... oh man that would have been awesome with lightsabers.

I wish they would realistically provide both options. In DA if I was trying to fight the battle without using the stop and start tactics I was getting torn to shreds. All the planning stuff was just becoming too tedious for me

For anyone here who games on PC, GOG is giving away the original Age of Wonders for free today. It's also their winter sale so a bunch of stuff is cheap. Immediate highlight I see is the pack of Witcher 1 and 2 for $5 (though they have certainly been this cheap before), especially if you want to play them before the third game drops

I can't comment on the 3rd, but they improved the combat in the 2nd one to make it a lot faster. Too bad the 2nd one was lacking the story and depth of the first one.

Started killzone 1 last night, and have to say the voicing in there is so funny how bad it is.

Haha Gator told me that the Utes beat Wichita State last night during my stream. First I thought he was talking about football which made no sense, then I figured out he was referencing basketball.  Then I thought that is a really weird game for Gator to be watching, why would something like that even be on in Georgia?

Went to ESPN.com today and I guess Wichita State is like #8 in the nation and had a 35 game regular season winning streak before yesterday.  Go Utes!

Also espn's video player is god fucking awful.  It's unacceptable for a major company/website with so many resources at hand to have a video player that bad.

Liked because I have always thought the same thing.
I thought maybe it was due to adblock (which is a necessity on espn.com because they have those crawling ads that muck up the screen and trick you into clicking them) so I disabled it real quick. The ad before the highlights played perfectly of course, then the actual highlights still didn't play and it went into that forever loading loop that it does.

Yeah those cut-scenes provided constant eye-rolling fodder between the old graphics, over the top scenes, and shitty voice acting. I started zoning out during most of those scenes after a couple chapters. Also, thanks for the reminder that I need to go back and finish the game w/ the other three characters for that plat.

The player on computer sucks, but the watch espn stuff on roku, apple tv, etc is better.
Yeah I'm just talking about their website player. Even the live events I stream on my browser using ESPN3 or whatever runs OK. But their video player for highlights is just pathetic. Which sucks because they own the rights to so many sports so it's basically the only place that can even show the highlights.

I just pretty much played it like an action game and had no problems. Never stopped to plan out moves. I'm sure I had the difficulty bumped down to play that way, but the combat was still fairly enjoyable. The main draw was the story for me anyway, so doing that allowed me to experience it.

I've just seen what everyone else has at this point, but I've been checking planetdestiny, Twitter, and reddit all day to see if anything comes through. The weekly update is tonight, and I'm expecting it to be a big one. They have a lot of stuff to address, even without the talk of exotic upgrades.

My concern with that commendation thing is that I got to Vanguard and Crucible rank 3, and then started doing a faction. Some people seem to think you'll get some commendations for the ranks you've already obtained, but what about people who are doing a faction? Even if I don't get retro commendations, should I just abandon my faction? There's no point in leveling it up if I can't get the commendations from it.

Exotic upgrades bother me less now that it's been said you'll start them at 300 damage. I thought they were going to be completely reset and you'd start at 230 or whatever it is. And like ugly pete said, people are flipping that their current legendaries will be worthless, but they won't be. Their max damage of 300 means they're still effective against level 30 enemies. You're going to need better stuff for the hard raid, but that's not opening until January, and there's plenty of time to get new stuff.

For anyones wife/gf, victoria secret is giving a free bra top with any pink purchase. That's like a $30 value. Must be a PINK Nation member (free) Hope this helps someone :)

I played about half way through the first one a few months ago thinking I would get caught up before the new one came out, but that didn't really work out. I ended up reading up on the story and I am following things just fine so far (again, I'm still pretty early). I found this article to be super helpful when I was trying to get the gist of things: http://kotaku.com/a-beginners-guide-to-all-things-dragon-age-1658487212

what about the combat... see I have never like RPGs that are somewhat turn based (set up the attacks, then the AI takes over and does them. I'm enjoying the combat. You can pause everything and tell the AI controlled people in your party what to do, but I have ignored that entirely and have just been playing as my main guy so far. The AI seems competent enough to hold it's own on Normal difficulty. That wasn't the case for me in DA origins. I ended up lowering the difficulty to easy because I kept getting my whole party killed fast by more than a handful of enemies.

I'm playing as a mage. So you use right trigger to fire spells from staff and face buttons to use special spells that have cooldown timers. It's not really different from the combat in the first one, I guess, but it "feels" tremendously better. While playing through the first one I never felt that your attacks packed oomph, but it doesn't really feel that way now (kind of hard to explain, I guess).

Interesting. I've seen others say all the sidequest stuff is bad and that the best thing is to focus on the main quest.
*Shrug* I've been compelled to pursue all the quest markers on my map, even if I haven't seen anything super varied so far. I was actually reading this article earlier today: http://kotaku.com/psa-if-youre-playing-dragon-age-leave-the-hinterlands-1661855879

Basically it is saying that a lot of people are having that complaint, but that is because they refuse to leave the first area, which is huge and packed full of side stuff. You gotta travel to other locations to see the more fun stuff.

I'll have to go back and check what difficulty I was on. When I tried doing that sometimes even a small group was taking me out

Oh just like IGN. Why doesn't everyone just use fuck ing youtube?
there are only 3 streaming apps that work for me on my Iphone; youtube, netflix, and Hulu... everything else has problems loading and stuttering, I just can't understand why. not to mention that for some reason advertisements work fine every where, then the actual video starts and the problems start.

Haha no problem. Yea, I'm pLanning on pounding out the plat. I'm only on chapter 5 of my first run, but I'm doing it on hard to get that over with. It's not too difficult, but I died a few times and got pissed off as to how far back the checkpoints are.

I know some people swear off easy mode, but to me it's worth swallowing your pride and bumping it down to be able to experience the story in that game. Easy mode is better than not playing it at all.

Shit is like this with cable too. Verizon might start acting up while I am watching something but when it goes to commercial everything is fine. then when the show is back on it goes back to shit. fuck

Good Point. I do tend to use youtube for things like this but its a pain in the ass when your already on espn.com!
He means why don't these sites just use Youtube to host their videos.

Which would be amazing but would never happen because then they'd have to share their ad profits with Youtube.

Hitman 2 and Deadly Premonition trophies have went up in value on True Trophies a bit since they went free. I suspect this will reverse itself quickly within a couple weeks as more people finish the games.

I've been doing a lot of stuff on easy mode lately just to get through it. Especially if it's a genre I don't enjoy much like FPS, I'll just throw it on easy and play through it. I probably started DA before I was doing that a lot though so I bet I was trying to tough it through on Normal

I meant espn.com should use it not you, just to clear that up. Lol. Playstation Blog uses it without issue.

Breaking news guys! Eating a "Mediterranean Diet" will make you healthier and help you live longer!

The diet involves eating items off a menu that is rich in vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans and peas, unrefined grains, olive oil and fish. It keeps dairy, meat and saturated fats to a minimum
Well no fucking shit! Eating healthy foods makes you healthy!?!?! Never would have guessed!

Why are we funding shit like this? That funding needs to go towards subsidizing healthier foods and making them more affordable and easier to access for the general population.

yeah the checkpoints are a bit ridiculous. I did hard first to get it over with. I'm hoping the rest of the playthroughs go super quick set on easy. Not particularly looking forward to it, but the new perspectives/combat might be interesting.

I hope most of those people just go "WTF?" at Deadly Premonition and stop playing so the TT value stays high.
