Just so were all real clear on what return fraud is:

Types of return fraud
Some examples of the return fraud and abuse problems include:

Wardrobing or renting: Purchasing merchandise for short-term use with the intent to return the item, such as a dress for a special occasion, a video camera for graduations and weddings or a big-screen television for the Super Bowl.

Returning stolen merchandise: Shoplifting with the objective to return the item(s) for full price, plus any sales tax.

Receipt fraud: Utilizing reused, stolen or falsified receipts to return merchandise for profit. Alternatively, returning goods purchased on sale or from a different store at a lower price with the intention of profiting from the difference.

e-Receipt fraud: Utilizing e-receipts issued when purchasing goods online, but returning them in store, to return merchandise for profit. A variation of the receipt fraud using the e-receipts.

Employee fraud: Assistance from employees to return stolen goods for full retail price.

Price switching: Placing lower priced labels on merchandise with the intention of returning the item(s) at the higher price point.

Price arbitrage: Purchasing differently priced, but similar-looking merchandise and returning the cheaper item as the expensive one.
Switch fraud: Purchasing a working item, and returning a damaged or defective identical item that was already owned.

Cross-retailer return: Returning or exchanging an item purchased at another retailer (usually at a lower price) for cash, store credit or a similar, higher-priced item at another retailer.

The selection would be pretty damn small anyway.

Oh, this was great:

Yes, I copied the whole damn article. :D/ :D/
But you left behind the best part.

He is the master of cognitive dissonance. He spent so much time rallying against the colorization of Black and White movies, but resents OOT fans for wanting theatrical cuts of the original 3 Star Wars movies on home video in non-shitty form.

Guys as long as you bought a product from a store as new and return it to them as new for the same amount you paid its fine.  Return fraud people really care about is when you buy something from one store and return it to Walmart for even more than you paid.  And you never bought it from them.

If you look at the very first line in that it says about defrauding the store. I said in the very first line you are not defrauding Gamestop.

Since you want to use wikipedia, let's look at this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraud

Is what you are doing unlawful? Nope, I don't think so anyway. Is it an unfair practice? Depends. If you told Gamestop you were returning a copy you bought at Best Buy so you could save a few bucks and they were cool with that, then no. Otherwise, yes.
How am I defrauding the store if it's the exact same item that they sold me? If they asked me why I was returning the said item and I told them I got it for $15 dollars cheaper at Best Buy they wouldn't give a shit because it's un-opened and new just like they sold it to me. If anyone is defrauding anyone it's Gamestop for selling me a "New" copy that's opened.

If you bought a TV for $2000 dollars to find out 1 day later another store had it for $500 you wouldn't try and get a price match? Let's really think about what you are saying here.

Yea youd buy the tv for 500 and return it to the other retailer to get your 2k back from them.

We have a Mexican restaurant by me that has a pic of Bart Simpson on it's sign for some reason.  Also a guy works for a plumbing company near me that has Mario as it's logo but with a different mustache.  I think I posted that one before.

Haha did I stumble into the Video Game deals forum on accident? Jesus Christ, a return fraud argument?
Can't wait for GBAStar and SadPanda and all those other idiots to weigh in!
Laugh all you want but I really don't like when people make accusations against me about breaking the law or doing something shady and I will call them out every time because it's not the type of person I am.

Look guys!  A NEW CAGCAST!!!!  Aren't we all so excited that we get a big bright orange notification for that now across the top of the screen?!

I never even see the main page unless you guys mention something outside the thread.

EDIT: Nevermind, I should say I never look around and saw those icons way up there before anyway...

He may not be interested in what is really a version of return fraud. All of us look for the best way to get a cheap price, but some things we are not all willing to do for a few bucks.
Maybe I am not understanding the story here. But I think he bought a 'new' game from Gamestop and paid more then BB is selling it for right? I don't see anything wrong in returning the game to GameStop and rebuying it at BB. The only reason he might have trouble returning this 'new' game is because the asshats at GS open all the games and are supposed to put some seal on it but didn't?

If so I really don't see the big deal about buying a cheaper actual new game from BB and just returning it to GS. Something he should have been able to do but can't since GS sold him an open game and didn't put the damn seal on in the first place.

Now maybe if he played the game already I could see it being a moral issue.

Oh and fuck Game Stop. I only deal with them when BB, Amazon, and Target can't / won't match the deal or they have a really good trade in value over what BB will give me.

Reading comprehension issues much?

2 times I said you were not defrauding Gamestop. I also said you were not breaking any law with what you are doing. The word fraud does not have that strict of a meaning regardless if you want it to.

My definition of shady is doing something that you know would not work if the other side knew all the details. That would be the case here, IMO. I realize I may be in the minority here, but I don't really care.

Is their motto, "Don't have a cow, man, have a burrito!"?

Ok, so basically you are saying if I walked into Gamestop to return a game and said I have 2 copies of this game but I'm not sure if this is the one I bought from you guys or the same one I bought for less $$$ from Target they would have a problem with it? I have a really hard time believing that even if they knew all the details they would have a problem with it. Why would they? The real point at the end of the day it is the same EXACT game with the same exact UPC that they can sell to someone else and they didn't lose anything in the process except for the sale because they were charging more. I think most salespeople would agree with me if the price difference was substantial.

I'm done...and that's not to say don't post your rebuttal or even a few more posts if you like, I'm just saying I've said my piece. No sense on me harping on this any more.

Here's what's awesome about this. You posted this within seconds of my post, so I have to assume you were already watching/listening to it in another tab.

I just found this on my computer (made it a long time ago). Still holds true...lol.

Are you defrauding Gamestop? No, you are not stealing money from them since you are returning another version of the same product they sold you. Is it sill return fraud? Yes, it is. By returning the game you bought at another location claiming it is what you bought from them, it is fraudulent. You are doing it for your own personal gain.

If you are OK with that, then fine. I would not do it.
Isn't the only reason he can't return it as new to GS is because they conveniently forgot to put the 'new' sticker on the opened box?

How do they get away with selling opened merchandise at full retail and as new?

@Gator

You might have already known about it, but LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin will release 3/27 on Vita: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/01/30/lego-ninjago-shadow-of-ronin-key-art-revealed?abthid=54cbd6fc506809df43000018
I did not know that, thanks. I do not normally seem to hear about the Lego games that only come to the handhelds like that. The last Ninjago game kind of flew under the radar too. It was a pretty fun game. The cut scenes were super cheesy so I assume the show must be too.

Added it to my Q.

I had the electric company over today to do an energy planner program they do. To try and save some money. The guy was showing me how to use their website. He was pleasantly surprise I could navigate a website better than a 6 year old. I guess he has to deal with so many old people and they dont have a fuck ing clue how to navigate a simple website.

That would be my mom.
Did you tell him porn is responsible for that? Thanks Porn!
