Each console had great exclusive games. The main thing I preferred with genesis over the snes was definitely the music. Genesis has a completely different sound than snes and its fantastic. Check out music from games like ToeJam and Earl (which unfortunately isn't included in that collection), Echo, Streets of Rate, Phantasy Star, Beyond Oasis, etc. Not even close to snes.
I would argue you could shove Actraiser into the above list. And from what I hear you can shove the SNES Final Fantasy game as well.

I am still younger than you?

I'm on the fence about picking up Bloodborne at Best Buy (with GCU) today. I plat'd Demons Souls and never felt compelled to check out DS or DS2. Wait for thread review from DS veterans?

Just watched Gametrailers Bloodborne review.  "Abundant and lengthy load times every time you die or warp to a new location".  Each load time is 30-45 seconds with nothing but the name of the game on the screen.  Also, if you want to warp from one area to another you have to warp to the hub first.  So two load times or over a minutes of sitting there doing nothing when you want to warp to a new area.  Ugh.

They love the game, but long and frequent load times make me quit games.  And the amount of dying in this game along with no pausing...ugh, I will probably still buy it just to try.

There's a 2.69GB day-one patch that might address that, but we won't know for sure until later.

They mentioned the patch when talking about some slowdown in the game too. The slowdown wasnt fixed in the patch and they mention the load times after all that so I highly doubt the patch fixed the load times.

That's a shame. Hopefully the fact that nearly every review, though positive, mentions the long load-times will be noticed by From Software and addressed in a later patch.

Reading the Digital Foundry performance review, the problem with frame rates can be solved with a future patch, since the game is running at 30 fps, but the stutter is caused by extra duplicates frames. Your favorite game, Destiny, had this problem but was resolved with a patch.

For all the shit people gave Dark Souls 2 about not being as good, one of the things they nailed was fast travel. Unlocked from the start (unlike in Dark Souls 1 where it is only unlocked 1/2 way through) and you could travel to any bonfire, from any bonfire.

I dont care about the slowdown much. The load times will bother me.

Yeah GT mentioned this and was puzzled why they went backwards in this respect. They overlook it all though cause they say the game is so great.

I wonder if the director for Bloodborne, who wasn't involved with DS II, never played it. Why else would the convenient warping not be included?

Good news: Sony already confirmed that they're working on a patch for the load times.

Thats nice and all, but it only says they are "exploring" and "seeking ways" to improve the load times. So they dont really know if its even possible or how long it would take to do. I would think if they could reduce the load times they would have done it already through the years they have been developing the game.

No. As I mentioned the other day I definitely am starting to have the Reed Richards thing going on though.

Speaking of the Genesis Collection, why did everyone think the system was so much better than the SNES? Playing some of these games, even the later era ones, is kinda rough, especially visually. I don't remember having the same response to playing old SNES games. Yes Sonic was the tits, but a lot of these control weird and look weird.

Comix Zone is an early standout of non-Sonic games though.
SNES rocks the balls off of Genesis. Who says anything different?

I'm really looking forward to this one. The Assignment is really, really good so far. I have only beaten about half of it, but what I have played so far is amazing. The last part of Chapter 1 is one of the best survival horror sequences I have ever played.

I feel like they also tweaked the camera and controls, because it feels a lot less clunky than the main game.

I don't want to watch a 10-minute video, so I'll just ask; were they playing a physical or digital copy? Wondering if that makes a difference on the load times.

Yo Tyler/Munky,

What time were y'all thinking for your Borderlands 1 romp tonight?
Today is going to be 6pm mountain time. It will be around then every weekday, I'm guessing we'll probably take weekends off. You want in? I know you Derek Not Eric and Cainiac have all expressed interest. Also whoever joins the group has to also commit to joining a google hangouts (or kik) chat so we can re-schedule and plan stuff there so we're not constantly clogging this thread with meetup posts.

Genesis had the better Mortal Kombat (blood code) and Street Fighter Championship Edition. I had a Genesis back in the day. It had some good shit on it. Earthworm Jim is weird as hell to me on the SNES because the screaming in hell isn't there or it's weird muted. Sonic 2 was pretty great back in the day. Streets Of Rage 2 was a ton of fun. I always wondered why everyone loved A Link To The Past so much and then I played it through on the GBA SP 2 and had my face melted.  :hot:

I was never really a fanboy, well until Nintendo started making stupid decisions like changing underwear, xbox decided to go the TV sports TV sports TV TV TV games route, and Sony conquered my heart with PS Plus, PC ports, Sales, Trophies, and good company :)

First video game was a Pong system.  Then, I went to my cousins at some point and they had an Atari 2600 and I didn't want to leave.  I remember playing Combat and Adventure.

SLC may be getting Google Fiber announced later today, hopefully.

So that works out to 7pm central time, which works out to me not being able to make it during the week, unless you don't mind lurkers jumping in midgame.

Also why don't you use the group chat in Kix since peeps here have used that before?

Because I finally proved to him how much better hangouts is than kik. You're welcome. :)

If we have space I don't care if you jump in and out. Me and Munky will probably playing from about 6-10 would be my guess, maybe with a dinner break in there. People are welcome to jump in and out if they want.

OK cool. Obviously if someone can use the spot the whole time they're welcome to it, but I usually can't get on until 7:30 mountain on any given weeknight. I'll see where y'all are at tonight when I log on.

Google Hangouts has it's flaws too.  The alerts don't always work on PC and it runs as an extension instead of a separate app which I don't really like as much because sometimes I forget I'm signed in.

Neither Kik or Hangouts use contact either, just stored conversations.  I don't like that either.  I've yet to find an IM client I truly love.

But kik would be fine to use too.
