Chris Archer for MVP?

http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/59531/chris-archer-turns-into-cy-young-and-mvp-candidate

Archer's maturation into staff ace is a key reason the Rays have survived last summer's trade of David Price, the offseason loss of manager Joe Maddon, the trade of Ben Zobrist, the injuries to Alex Cobb (zero starts) and Drew Smyly (three starts), the injuries to Desmond Jennings (just 18 games played) and James Loney (30 games), the recent injury to Jake Odorizzi (he's missed three starts and will be out at least another two weeks) and the play of shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera -- the team's "big" offseason acquisition who is hitting .210 with a .267 OBP.

Look at all those problems. And yet the Rays, picked by most to finish last in the division, are 41-32. I don't want to hear how many injuries your team has suffered. They Rays are down three-fifths of their projected starting rotation and their two best players from 2014. And they're in first place.

That's ok Jimbo, I'm pretty much the same. I was called a "Bronze Hoarder" by a few guys that I used to play mp with because I only had 30 or so Platinums and not the 100-150 the rest of them had.
I will NEVER hit 30 or 40 plats. So you are still way ahead of me.

That was way too sarcastic and mean spirited. Even for you!

God I am bored with my job. I need to get more involved on linkedin and look for better opportunities. Then again my job is easy and I make good money so why bother? But shouldnt I be a go getter? fuck. Life choices are hard.
you probably weren't actually soliciting advice, but the only thing I have to say on this topic is it seems that the only reason to leave a comfortable job that pays well is to get another comfortable job that pays well to pad out your resume in case you want to be a go getter later. my biggest problem in getting other jobs was staying at the same place for 15 years. well that and not having a degree. and living in kansas. and being somewhat hard on the eyes. also I wear roller skates in all of my interviews. etc etc

Sometimes I think I should get another job and put my MPA to use rather than just sitting on my butt answering phones. Then I look at my paycheck and the fact that I work from home and forget all about it.

Yeah I dont mind advice. I know its good to move around and learn new things but I also dont get why your looked down upon for sticking with the same company for a few years. If I see someone moving to a new job every 2-3 years I assume they dont know what the hell they are doing and get out before they get fired. And they are good bullshitters. Or they are so bad they are getting laid off everywhere they go.

Cy Young, I'd be on board with at this point. I'd have to go with Cabrera for MVP.

I have not had the pleasure personally, but it is very highly regarded and I know I want to try it. Based on the style, I would think it would fit your tastes. It should be on the sweet side with next to no hops in it at all.
Yeah i know its my style. They have it and St Bernardus on tap at Dunderbaks now. I might try to swing by on the way home tonight. But then I will pass out when I get home and not get to play (I AM) BATMAN. Decisions...

Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball for sure, but how has he been valuable this year? Arent the Tigers terrible this year? You cant give MVP to a guy if his team isnt in the playoffs.

Granted I know this is early and will change 4 months from now anyway but if the Tigers stay bad you cant give MVP to anyone on their team.

I can't wait till all the Fallout 4 bragging starts.

"hey look guys I killed a deathclaw in one shot but there's no leader board to show off my kill herp derp"

That beer at least was very rare to even get in bottles. If you really want to try it and they have it on tap, you need to go. Batman will still be there tomorrow. That beer may not be.

I think the big reason is that they think you know that one company well but may not know your profession well. with bugles it was all about the fact that the company I was in was smaller and they didn't have any work history proof that I could hang in their wacky gigantic environment. but in my line of work changing jobs every 2 years is more the norm than the exception and experience is trump. when I was interviewing people it wasn't uncommon to get a bunch of candidates that had been doing 3-9 month consulting gigs for 5+ years and they were looking to finally settle down in a stable job.

They have it listed under their "regular bottle" section too. Maybe they bought it all and thats why you cant find it?

Atlanta Hawks just released their new uniforms...

I like the black one best, but these are pretty odd. Don't really like the shortened ATL on the red ones.

They're over .500 a few games out in the central, 1 game out of a wildcard spot. Since KC went from beloved small market underdogs to cocksucking douchebags in record time, I certainly hope Detroit or Minnesota win the division.

It's not common but it can happen where the winner is from a losing team. Dawson won it in 87 when the Cubs finished last. 'Course voters may have some sympathy for him after he took that pitch to the face, and led to one of the best baseball cards of all time

To catch up:

With all this Batman talk, y'all are going to make me start AA soon.  (Arkham Asylum, not the other AA.)

Castle of Illusion is a fun little game.  I started it back up over the weekend when my daughter said she wanted to watch me play the Mickey Mouse game where the apple chases you.  I only need the collectibles to 100% it, so I'll probably work on that in-between other stuff.

I've been working at the same place for 10+ years now, and will probably work here until I retire/die.  Love this company and this job.

Finally, this is my new crack:

These showed up in the vending machine a few months ago.  I try to limit myself to one bag a day.

He's only third in offensive WAR and that's not even pinging his lack of a glove. It's Trout again, but to date, Kipnis is playing out of his mind.

I like those ATL unis. Certainly better than the new Clippers unis.

1000 times better than the Bucks. #fearthenewdeerunis
Holy shit, I hadn't seen the clippers stuff. Looks awful lol. The LAC part of the logo design looks like a bad cubs logo to me lol. The neon green in the hawks stuff looked odd to me at first, but it's growing on me.

Liked for hotsauce chips.

Any sources on this?
“Throughout the 6 months of additional Batman: Arkham Knight content, Premium and Season Pass owners will also receive the in-game content that is offered through various retail pre-order incentives. This includes the Harley Quinn and Red Hood Story Packs, and the Prototype Batmobile. For those who did not receive the content with their game, these items will become available when their respective exclusivity windows expire in August/September.”

Wow thread was just awful this morning. Thank god I was busy trying to not have my employees die from heatstroke.
He asked her if she needed mouth to mouth and she said, "Yes, from Benedict Cumberbatch." and he responded, "I prefer my eggs like legs...over easy, honey."

Ugh this article pisses me off in so so many ways:

http://kotaku.com/new-destiny-quest-is-exclusive-to-red-bull-1713588960

First of all, some people like Red Bull, not everyone thinks it "tastes like a cross between licorice and turpentine"

Second, it's not like you have to actually drink it to get the DLC. They don't sent an Activision rep to your house to verify the entire can has been consumed before they give you the code. Just pour it the fuck out.

Third, "Activision and Bungie have teamed up to also deny things to anyone who doesn’t want a heart attack by age 50." C'mon. Eating unhealthy doesn't guarantee a heart attack by 50. I fucking hate when fairly healthy people judge everyone who eats a Milky Way and drinks a Red Bull is going to have a heart attack by 50. A quick google search shows that there's a 7% prevalence of heart attack in males in the US by age 59.  Does this writer really think that 93% of America eats healthy and that's how they've avoided a heart attack by 50?

Fourth, I am fucking sick of people piling on Destiny for their "greediness". It's been pretty easy to judge the content to dollar ratio of the game since the initial release and first DLC. If that ratio isn't satisfactory to you, then don't fucking pay for it and move on with your life. There are obviously plenty of people who are really hooked on the game and are willing to pay that much for it. Does the game have in game transactions? I dont think it does, which is different than a lot of MMOs, so the creators are having to get their money for the content all up front.

Fifth and finally, sometimes it can be cool when publishers team up with food producers and do things like this. Weren't mountain dew and doritos selling like crazy when they were worth double XP in COD, I'm pretty sure people were trading for Double XP codes. It was probably foolish to reveal this promo so long before The Taken King content comes out because it makes people feel like it was a quest taken out of the DLC, but it's still kind of a fun idea in theory. They should have just waited and announced it a month after The Taken King release to get all the Destiny players excited about a new mission.

Take a fucking chill pill!!!

And yeah I am going to laugh at all these healthy people around me when some of them have heart attacks and I dont and I live to be 80 drinking and eating like I do.  Or I will be dead from a heart attack by age 50.  Either way I win!

I've decided that I never want to job hunt again. I never want to interview. I never want to update my fucking resume. I've been at this job for 13 freaking years now, which is insane. But it pays well, and I'm hoping to retire in 5 years after my mortgage is paid off, or 7-8 years if I get scared about future health care costs and the long wait for medicare.

Of course I'll probably get fired next year and throw the whole thing off, but you've got to have goals.

I dont really like Red Bull at all.  Never have, even when it was all the rage in college.  I think it debuted when I was in college.  Lot of drunk kids staying up longer getting more drunk! What can go wrong there?!

Anyway, I like NOS for my energy drink fix.  I dont drink coffee so I have one of these every morning.

Any chance either of those Sonic Adventure (or Crazy Taxi) would work on Vita? (I know it says they're for ps3, but they're dreamcast ports)

Seems like they'd play so much better on the small screen.

Sure they would work if the games were ported. It's not like they're technically demanding. They haven't been ported, though, so it's not going to happen.

Yeah, gotta have goals. If I didnt get married and have a kid I would also be on track to retire fairly young. Now I am certain I will never retire.

Moral of the story is that a heart attack before I am 50 doesnt sound so bad!

My ex worked for them and would bring it home by the caseload. At least it mixes well. I haven't had one in years though.
