Warning polygon link. But it's still a pretty interesting take on PS+ vs Xbox live.

http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/24/9023377/sony-playstation-plus-xbox-live

I know I signed up for PS+ before PS4 came out and needed it for online, so the swap didn't make too much difference to me. But I definitely get a lot more out of the service than I ever did xbox live. I let my live subscription lapse long before I got rid of my 360 to trade up to PS4 since I never used it. Always felt like it was only to play online, which I did pretty rarely. A couple times for borderlands, left 4 dead (1 & 2), and again for Halo 4.

Played my first online rocket league game, won 5-4. I was able to score with 20 seconds left to win... it was exhilarating.
It really can get exciting playing online. I'm embarrassed to say how many times I've found myself standing up a few feet away from my TV when the pressure is on.

Destiny Talk:

(and more polygon their twitter is blowing up my feed)

http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/24/9031507/heres-the-190-jaw-dropping-destiny-action-figure-and-its-exotic

Expensive, really nice looking, Titan figure coming. Unlikely to be purchased by anyone here, but still. That thing looks pretty awesome. I wonder if they'll do warlock or hunter ones down the line.
As someone that used the Titan more than Warlock and Hunter, this looks nothing like my Titan or most other Titans in the game. Where's the Thunderdevil shader and the exotic helmets? I wouldn't buy this anyway, but this looks like Halo again.

Is there anyone left on the planet who preorder more than a game or two a year who isn't getting them from best buy with gcu? I saw that amazon has started doing $7 preorder discounts for prime members but that's the closest thing to a deal I've seen outside of bby in two years.

I like how Senran Kagura saves show a picture of the girl you last played as. I'm not sure if I've seen saves that are context-specific anywhere else. Anybody know if other games do this?

Austin Powers is on HBO Comedy right now. It's at the part where he's in Allota Fagina's penthouse.

I forgot how hilarious these movies are.

Got the day to play games and on Sat I'm going to see Phish at The Forum in LA. It's been years since I seen them so it's going to be a blast.

Party, Party, Party!

I like how people pay for groceries with a food stamps card, while they and their 3 kids stand at the checkout playing on nicer phones than mine, with 2 of the kids wearing Beats around their necks.

USA! USA!

I'd like to cut your head off so I could weigh it. What do you say? Five pounds? six pounds? seven pounds?

I'm the champion of hating Polygon, but this article is good. These two paragraphs do a really good job of explaining both Plus and Cross-Buy:

Two nights ago I went into the basement to buy two games everyone was talking about: Rocket League and the PS4 version of Journey. I found that Journey was "free" due to the cross-buy service; since I had already paid for it on PS3, the upgraded version was free. Rocket League was "free" due to my PlayStation Plus subscription. I felt like Sony had just given me $35 back for being a loyal customer.

That's not what happened, though. I had purchased two pieces of Sony hardware and the company's subscription service, and in the past I had purchased a game. Sony just decided to reward me for doing so, after I've already given them so much money. I'm locked into the Sony ecosystem, so if I jump ship to another console or let my PlayStation Plus subscription lapse, I lose all these benefits. But it feels amazing to be "given" this amount of content on a regular basis.

I crack up so hard when Austin
gets that little cart perfectly stuck in that narrow hallway. So fucking funny.

Spoilered cuz it will be funnier to watch if you forgot about it rather than read about it.

Awesome, and I'll be at Dave saturday! Phish is coming to Alpine in a couple weeks, and I may try to go one of the days.

Well now we know pitfall and wren's favorite part of the chicken is the right wing.

You're probably writing a review of it for IA, but how was Q.U.B.E.?
I am writing a review. I really enjoyed it. It's a bit sterile with the visuals, but the puzzles are really good, and don't get super challenging til the very end.

It's pretty short, about 3.5 hours for the main game and about 5 hours for the 100%. I'll be streaming it next week probably.

To be fair, I seem to LOVE this genre. I love Portal, Portal 2, Quantum Conundrum, and Magrunner. If you like those games, no way you'll regret the $8 for the game. Or wait for a 50% off sale, but anyone who likes 1st person puzzlers should definitely pick it up.

I'm not sure. I think Dark Pit, a Best Buy exclusive, is releasing next Friday, but otherwise I'm as out of the loop as you.
Oh good, for a second there I thought it was this Friday and I'd somehow missed it. Only in store for that one though, so I'll have to see if I can get out of work that morning somehow.

Holy fuck is Ness amiibo only going for like $20 now? I sold mind for almost $50!
Yeah, unfortunately it looks like the resell market for Amiibos is worse now, as most listings I've seen lately haven't been higher than $30. I blame random restocks--both Ness and DeDeDe have had those at GS recently.

It's exasperating because, growing up in a small town with them, this family has been poor white trash for generations, and they constantly remind you why.
And this is why food stamps and govt hand outs are bad. Its always the same people over and over again becauae once you get used to doing whatever you want all day why would you want to work for the man?

God I love two hour liquid lunches.  Especially when you get the same waitress as last week and get a little more info from her like where she lives.  Then she overhears you talking about going to work on wall street next week and gives you a wink.

Pretty sure I will be going back next week and asking for Olivia.

Also trying to sell amiibo on Craigslist isn't at all worth it. I could offer these things for free and people would still ask me to drive 20 miles to deliver it to them instead of picking the damn things up.

The amiibo flipping experiment is over for me before it even started.

That'd be a pretty harsh bravery check. Aren't you at a -19 on that roll?

I am actually all for the resell value going back down. Then hopefully I'll be able to get a few of the ones I actually want with no temptation to resell them. And I'd also lose my desire to pick up rare ones just for resell value, because I really don't like doing it but it's a good way to fund the rest of my amiibo collection.

I would hope Nintendo has a major restock planned for the holidays. They'd be foolish if they didn't. I want a Samus.
