Anyone have any thoughts on Code Name Steam?  It's 9.95 at Frys with their daily promo code, in store only as they sold out online.  I have zero interest in Amiibos so playing as a Fire Emblem character isn't going to be a factor.

Yup, Everybody's Gone to Rapture sounds absolutely awful. Some of the "pros" from Gamespot's review (9/10):

+ Beautiful, nonlinear narrative demanding full emotional investment
+ Masterful use of audio and visual cues for guidance
+ Forces full engagement with hidden secrets and unwavering tension

Yuck.

And then two completely aggravating sounding cons:

 - Movement speed is frustrating
 - No manual save and checkpoints are few and far between

I've never actually used suspend mode. I guess I should start.
I used it yesterday and it worked well.

That game sounds like something that will look great but I'll need a guide to figure out what the hell to do. When you hear the crow caw 3 times, turn left and proceed to the windmill. Wait for the sun to shine through it, do a 180, and look to your right. You'll see Stotch flipping you off.

Wait, everyone isnt suspending their PS4 every time they shut it down?  Ever since the update I suspend it every time.

Why? What's the pros of this? Quicker boot time?
the ps4 takes the same amount of time to come out of sleep either way, but when you choose your suspended game it pops you in exactly where you were with no hesitation/loading (just like the vita). it's a real decent implementation, I always suspend.

Or the obvious that you can save your spot in game and don't have to worry if you hit a checkpoint or not.
Yep and yep. And it works all the time, 95% of the time. I think I couldnt do it for AC Freedom Cry for some reason if I remember correctly. Other than that it always works.

For me, enter rest mode is the option in my quick menu when I hold the PS button. To actually shut the system off, I have to go to power options and then turn it off. So you'd be actively going out of your way to not use the rest mode option, and that's just sill when there's no negatives to doing so.

I almost always suspend. If I know we are getting storms or I will not use it for a few days (or want to unplug it) I do a full shutdown.

Stupid this feature was on the Vita but not on the PS4 at launch. I guess they wanted to use a low power core for this feature but couldn't get it to work. Still stupid XBox One launched (or shortly there after) with it and PS4 took a 1.5 years to roll it out.

I use rest mode all the time. I just don't use suspend. I exit out of games before going into rest mode.
Then your just doing an extra step you dont really need to do. Either way the system is using or not using the same power. So you might as well stay in game. It is quick to switch games when you boot back up if thats what you want to do.

Why? Other the Destiny (Which you don't play) and either GTA 5 or AC Unity it seems to work almost all games.

Either GTA V or AC Unity wouldn't allow it but I think every other game I have played since it was rolled out does.

Absolutely. It's so much better than waiting for all the boot stuff and having to worry about save points in games that don't let you save everywhere. The only downside (for me) is that in my area we occasionally have power blinks, which is just enough to mess the rest state up.

Yeah I get a lot of power flickers or blinks as you call them. It sucks. This house is the worst I have ever lived in. Worse, we get them mostly when its clear outside and there isnt an electrical storm near. Its pretty strange.

has anyone played zombie tycoon 2? we must've gotten it from ps+ at some point. it looks like I made it through the first two chapters or so and just stopped. is it awful?
I platted it, but it's definitely skippable. Its gets pretty frustrating when you get to the later levels in it. It was one of those games I played on the Vita solely at work, so I didn't mind doing the same things over and over again mindlessly

You can buy a cheap, $50 battery backup that can last you from 10 to 20 minutes. I have one, it works great with my monitor, both modem and router and PS4.

Habit I guess. I probably won't change.
Yup, I was excited about this feature for next gen, but I've only used it once or twice. Just force of habit after spending however many years making sure I was at a save point before shutting down. Plus my gaming habits are pretty sporadic. I'm likely to jump into a different game from what I was playing earlier when I boot up my system

I need to get one of these. Pretty sure I'm in the same boat and pharm and therm. Leaving my ps4 in rest mode has messed up one a few too many times since I moved for it to just be coincidence.

Yea not sure how you guys dont suspend resume.

I have to go out of my way to close the application, hold ps button, scroll to rest mode, done. Game automatically suspends, even Destiny does it but when it resumes you have to log back in.

BL2 in handsome collection will save exactly where you are and you just have to turn online back on in network options in the game.

Its pretty nifty.

Vita portable batteries are down to 13.99 on Amazon. If you have a 2000, you'll need to buy a 1000 cable in order to charge the battery from the electrical socket. I've had one for a couple of years and use it on long flights. You can charge any USB device with it.

Might get it, though it looks like the cost of the AC Adapter and USB cable would be more much than the charger itself, guess I could see whether gamestop has any used in stock as that would be $10 for the pair based off the website. As you need both the 1000 AC Adapter and 1000 USB cable, correct?

We had one of those, but finally had to stop using it. Whenever the power would go off, rather than working silently, that model would do a high pitched beep periodically to let you know it was running on back-up power (because how else would one know the power in the house was off ) which would drive the dog into a frenzy.

I sometimes use rest mode, but I think I only ever used suspend once. As a software guy and a trophy addict, I just assume I will be the one that will hit a glitch due to using the feature. That extra 30 seconds or so to start a game is not going to kill me.
