They definitely priced themselves about $5 out of the acceptable zone for N++. Early on in the thread he was saying that a bunch of other indies price at $20, but I don't think they factored the type and style of game they were making into that at all. Absolutely ridiculous that they were thinking about charging $30 until someone (much smarter) talked them out of it. Even for the play 2015 promo, it was hard to look at journey dropping for $15, Galak-Z and Everyones Gone to the Rapture dropping for $20, and believing that N++ should be on the $20 tier. Its almost like they didn't even pretend to have someone do some basic market research and then determine what all they could include to break even at least on a $15 price point.

I'm still vaguely interested in the game, and when it drops down to ~10 I'll probably bite, but man does it seem like these guys were ill prepared for all this. Hope it works out for them in the way of sales or something in the long term, but it doesn't seem like lack of press was the only thing that screwed them over.

Is that the one with the bow? I think everybody uses her for that free UAV, but I think it is kind of shitty. Saw only one person using glitch. Seemed pretty cool.
Yeah the bow sucks but it's still cool to use.

The one I really hate is the tempest. I was playing hardpoint 3v5 yesterday night and the entire enemy team were running them. It really is a rage inducer.

There decision to eliminate that 1 month press window is also baffling since it's primary selling point as part of the play promotion was the pre-order discount. If there are no reviews and few previews up until after the pre-order discount is gone, (midnightish on the day of release) then someone who was waiting for reviews isn't likely to spend an extra $4 to buy it at full price having just missed the discount. They'll wait until it is on sale again to at least $16 off.

The dev seems confusing to me. I think there are two people running the show, and maybe one is humble and realistic, while the other is uptight and way too idealistic. In my stream, they seemed pretty cool and gave a couple tips on playing the game. Then they talked about DLC/update plans. But then I asked a general question on twitter about how to unlock expert levels, and was basically shoved to the side and received a response of "Play the game more and find out!"
Yeah, there are two of them making posts on GAF at least and they share the account. One seems to be pretty normal with posts, and then there's the guy making all the posts now lol.

Another local Gamestop got a used copy of Lost Dimension on Vita in, with the original box this time! I'll pick that up later today with a $15 off used game coupon.
Shitty BB finally gave me one of my GCU coupon sets. I used the first $5 off a new game coupon on Dungeon Travelers 2. If they ever give me the second set of coupons I'll be using the 2nd one on Lost Dimension for the same reasons as you.

I did try going to a local BB to see if they could order pre-owned games with the B2G1 coupon. Nope. They can use reward certificates on orders, though, even though those also say they only work on in-stock in-store items.

I might be good that N++ is failing in sales as it's a good teaching moment for the delusional dude in the pair.  Not that I wish any ill will or bankruptcy or anything upon them.  Just that it sounds like they have good ideas to make fun games (and I'd like to see what else they can do), but just need to learn the biz better.  And what better way to improve your operation then to fail at it and try again.

Man, the conversation isn't good, it's GREAT!

If you care at all about indie devs and/or financial stuff involving games, you should just read on for a while from the link I posted. I might pull out some of the better stuff I come across. It's unfortunate, but the dev is a bit delusional about how amazing his game is.

$30!??!?!?!? That's fucking insane for a flash-looking platformer.
Thanks for posting this T-Bone.

That guy is pretty delusional. I have never played either game, but come the fuck on thinking game is worth 30 dollars. I dont even spend that on most AAA games at this point, much less some flash looking indie game with no resale/trade in value.

How long before on plus you think??? ;-)

15% off Vita consoles:

Maybe there will be a decent deal to PM and combine this with for the theoretical person in the topic who wants a Vita but doesn't have one. Does such a person exist anymore?
I'm the theoretical person in the thread who doesn't have a Vita and doesn't really want one. Does that get me ostracized?

Plus, I think if I plopped down on the couch next to the wife and pulled out a Vita I'd be ostracized from having nookie for a good long while.

To paraphrase the great Limp Bizkit, 'It's all about the nookie.'

PS: I would have embedded the video, but I can never get the embed to work from my work PC.

Speaking of Steam, what do you guys think about this?

http://liliputing.com/2015/08/smach-zero-300-handheld-steam-machine-game-console-comin-gin-2016.html

Will anyone pick one up? Looks like a Vita. I might be interested as I do have a Steam library that gets no play time but it would have to review well. Thoughts?
It looks pretty interesting. $300 seems a little steep for me to have another way to not play my PC games though. But if it was done well I wouldn't mind trying it out as an indie machine or some thing.

Limp Bizkit is one of my most hated bands. The Nookie (not the song) is great but Limp Bizkit is TERRIBLE.

I'd much rather watch sports than listen to Limp Bizkit. That should tell you how terrible their music is.

Pretty cool. I wouldn't mind having a way to play some PC games (even if they are not the latest and greatest titles). If it was ever on sale for say $200 and got decent reviews it might be hard for me to pass up. But at $300 I don't think I am interested. I have two consoles and two handhelds and already game too much.

If you're not earning trophies on the toilet, you're doing it wrong.

How much are you focusing on the objectives? I usually get a couple a day from those.
I do them when I can, haven't seen one with a lunch box since the first day i started a new vault. I keep getting non-optimal or time intensive ones. Right now mine are 4 pregnancies, collect 10 items, and spend 5 hours in the wasteland. I don't know if the wasteland hours either only count when you have the game open or if they only count if you send the person on the quest after you get the objective. I had one guy in the field and it wasn't counting toward it.

The guy on the left is Raigan.

His posts suddenly make a LOT more sense in that gaf thread.
What are the odds his parents were right wingers and named him after Reagan but he changed the spelling because he is an artist and against capitalism?

(he made some back handed mention of capitalism while trying to defend a higher price if nobody else noticed that)

used the phrase post capitalism I noticed.

Also canadian so theres that too.

Against capitalism because he has no freaking clue about economics apparently.

You have to send them out after you get the objective; won't count for someone who is already out there. It will continue to count after you back out of the game though.

When I said they were being generous I wasn't speaking of the handful they throw at you at the beginning... most games do that just to give you a taste. Keep focusing on the objectives and you'll see them start to trickle in. I assume you know you're allowed to skip one a day if you find one that's too hard or time consuming.

It would be great if they brought this to the vita... just adopt the play achievements for trophies and there you go!

This is what I do pretty much every night. Me and the wife both just kind of zone out and forget we have adult obligations for a while, it's pretty nice.

You left the game on, but you would have left the game on had you knew? Why am I confused by this?

My bad. I was playing it off and on this morning then turned it off. Tried getting back on it a few hours later and saw the queue. Queue turned out to be like 10 minutes in real time though.

it would be nice to have a portable machine that i could download my steam stuff to, and play wherever i want to. no idea if that's how this thing works. article didn't say much really. i also just skimmed it. could have missed it

That's what it is. It will use Steam OS so I'm guessing some games won't work that require Windows which is kind of a bummer. Some nice touches though like a 720p screen and HDMI out to play on a TV.

Does it store the games onboard, or is it a streaming-only device?

I picked these up a few months ago http://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=8320 and they have lasted and sound good. The cord is covered in fabric to help them last. They're currently 4.99 with free shipping. I was going through a pair of skullcandies every other month before I tried these out.
