So played some more Metal Gear this weekend. Finished Mission 12. I should have it all wrapped up by Christmas...lol. Big game.

I played through Never Alone over the weekend (a game I could play in front of the kiddos) I missed 3 trophies in the main game but then realized it has DLC attached as well. I enjoyed the game for what it was (3-4 hours) but not sure I want to go back for 100%. It got kind of buggy at the end.

Seriously...I mean you can hope Wilson has an off night but that's a pretty shitty break for you. Even I feel a little bad about it!

Also is there really someone in our league named Eddie Chang? That's pretty cool.
Not sure where you see "Eddie" but yeah that's me.

CAG football league hates me.
Next time try getting the highest score of the week so you'll win for sure.

Asking for $1.5 million, that seems super ambitious.
yeah. in the about section they lay out some of the costs and the overall plan a little bit - 505 is covering $2m if they get funded (and covering $0 if they don't, so the project will get dropped if they don't get their monies). the whole project is wicked ambitious - considering how much they've put in to it already I'd be surprised if they didn't go back to the publisher well and try to get fully backed if they fail. I think they could really do a good job with it if given the opportunity and it seems interesting enough even if I'm not familiar with the inspirations. plus it was cool that they had a day one playable prototype so people could really see what they're getting in to.

but when it comes down to it they're still an indie developer that (as far as most people know) made one fighting game. all signs point to probably not funded. guess we'll see.

The FTL soundtrack is actually quite good, btw. I played it on PC and never had the sound on, so I'm hearing it for the first time now. The link I provided above gives a free stream of it.

FTL was fun, I have it on my ipad for random fun. The vinyl is beautiful but man that's pricey when you add in shipping.

If anyone wants to buy some amiibo I have I'm asking 1.5 million.

Yeah not going to happen. Sony should fund it and make it a PS Plus game cause it looks aiaght.

So Marvel Puzzle Quest is coming to consoles, but it will cost you.

No mention of the Vita though. Shame there doesn't seem to be any mention of a Vita release. I played the mobile version nearly every day for about a year, it definitely turned into a pay to win game once you try to ascend to the top of tournaments.
I wonder how you go from f2p to $15. Do they average what people spent on the mobile game or pick a number out of a hat?

I already have (and platted) 3.0, I'm more curious how 2.0 plays in general. $16 is awfully tempting for the Marvel nerd in me but not if the gameplay is mediocre.
Were you that impressed with the gameplay of 3.0? The gameplay was a slight improvement, but not by much IMO... everything pretty much plays the same. The level designs of the playsets is a decent step forward, but that might just be because it's Star Wars and allowed them to be a little more creative. There were 3 Marvel playsets from 2.0... Avengers, Spider-man, and GotG. The Avengers and Spider-man city setting was really bland to me and so similar to each other that it felt like a ripoff. GotG was my favorite just because the sci-fi setting gave a little more creativity to the level design, but for some reason it seems to be the least liked playset from the majority.

All in all, you're only going to see minor differences between 2.0 and 3.0 but those differences might be enough to bother you. For instance, in the 3.0 sets you can use all the star wars characters in the playsets; you just have to find the single coin with their face on it and they're usually not that hard to find. In the 2.0 marvel sets you couldn't unlock every marvel character for play... only a couple extras were set aside for each playset and in order to unlock them you had to find not one, but 10 very well-hidden coins for each character (there are maps online if you want to make it easier for you).

TL:DR: 3.0 is definitely more fleshed out than 2.0 but it's still pretty much the same game as before.

If any of you were interested in the physical release of "Hearts of Stone", the first Witcher 3 expansion, which comes with Gwent cards, you'll have to go to Gamestop[.com]:

I literally JUST got confirmation via a tweet from a senior CDPR dev who said it will be a GameStop exclusive in the U.S. -- start f5'ing boys!! (Would link to the tweet but can't at the moment)

I was wondering that too... I think they're banking on the license to attract buyers, but I would be more tempted to bite at $10 considering I've already played a lot of the game for free on mobile. It's nice that there won't be anymore micro-transactions but as it is, I'll probably just wait for a sub $5 price tag.

This McDonalds I'm in is falling apart from the inside. Employee fights, a line completely looped around the building, people taking the wrong orders. Madness. I don't know if I'm going to make it out of here alive.

Translation: shitty game is still shitty.
Pretty much. I will say that I'm getting a little more enjoyment from this entry than the Marvel (and I like both licenses pretty much equally, maybe Marvel a tad more). In the end the gameplay is just too generic from any of the 3 entries and if I didn't have a son that got excited about this stuff then I wouldn't care.

The most disappointing thing for me is how much they've scaled back the content from the first game going forward. Three playset worlds were included in the 1.0 starter pack... only one world in 2.0 and 3.0. But right now it's hot and in a few years when it starts to cool down I imagine they'll have to start offering more content out of the box again.

I like this article a lot because it's what I normally say in regards to the PS TV or the Vita even. I think people tend to focus on all the things that a system can't do instead of focusing on what they actually can do.

I feel like I read that before today.

<snip>
The main difference I saw was with the shooting gameplay in 3.0. It was the one thing that stood out as new to me after playing the last 2 entries. The rest seemed like the standard fetch quest collectathon from the previous games.

How so? Seems pretty similar to characters like Rocket, Iron Man, Nova, etc. from 2.0... I can't think of any mechanics that changed.
It seemed more like a real 3rd person shooter mechanic. Maybe it was just so much more pronounced to me since Munky was playing single player and I have never played anything but coop with my kid on story missions. I do not remember it ever having an over the shoulder type view with an aiming retical before though. Iron Man seemed more like spray and pray from what little I was allowed to play him.

PSNow might make sense if it had PS4 games. Why doesn't it have PS4 games? And especially brand new PS4 games. Compete with Redbox. I could see renting a game occasionally if I didn't have to settle for last-gen. I'm no Zimm.

I don't see a reason for PS Now until they let you access your PSN library for free using it. I get that it's a service, but why would I want to pay extra to access games I already own and can have a better experience playing on my PS3? The convenience to be able to play all my games on one system isn't worth it, IMO. Not without absolutely perfect gameplay, anyway, which PS Now doesn't have.

3 songs left for Normal on IA/VT. Weird how there's a song near the end that triggers the end of game sequence, then you get 3 additional songs I guess as a bonus. Not sure why they did it that way.

No idea if I'll be able to pull off the 100 perfects and S-ranks or the Hard-rank Step Up challenges. Those sound like a pain. Glad I got to the end of the song list, though, as 60 is a lot and knowing I'd have to play them all again on Hard and Easy and also the repeats for Step Up was starting to make me burn out a bit. Now the end is in sight even if I'm not sure I'll have the dedication to push through it.

Don't forget about finishing a song with every costume, which would require at least 15 repeats.

So it sounds like 2.0 is a little less overall than 3.0...think I'll pass. $16 is good but I really need to not add more to the backlog at this point.

Well, yeah, there's a number of additional trophies to get. I was just starting to feel like the song list would never end. Finishing that will feel like I've got the biggest chore down. I'm also a good chunk through Hard already due to playing those for additional experience to unlock the remaining Normal songs, so knocking that out the rest of the way won't take too long.
