Dev comments on buggy Zombie Vikings release. Apparently they've got a patch coming that should (hopefully) fix the rest of the bugs and add new content. Kinda cool that it seems like they've been pretty open in regards to the bugs and making sure everything gets worked out, hope it works for them.
Two weeks after release we had released three major updates that fixed all the major problems people were experiencing.
That is pure horse shit! Even after that there were major bugs and the online is fucking horrible still.

Yo Gator, I know people have discussed it here, but what makes a beer a Belgian style beer and how would a Belgian IPA differ from a regular IPA.  I'm going to do a tasting thing at a local brewery/tap room Thursday night the focuses on Belgian style.

I assume you're talking about Ogmo, and not The Kid.

Ogmo's 3rd level is a bit tough. It has those big jutted out platforms that you have to jump to, right?
Can't remember the name for sure, but I think that's right. Even if I make it to the top there's a row of spikes you have to double jump across that is narrow. I've not gotten past that. Even if I do that then there's a narrow shaft you have to jump down with spikes on the sides and then you have to jump mid-air to the left.

I hate everything about this except that the official trophy list title is "Bedlam The Game By Christopher Brookmyre." It makes it sound so posh!
It's apparently based on the book of the same name by that person. The premise is the Scottish protagonist by wild circumstance finds themselves sucked into a 90's FPS (think the movie Tron), you start in a Quake knock-off. In the course of playing you jump to other retro game homages in a bid to escape. It sounds very Matt Hazardish so I suspect it too will end up being an uneven mess. I found this video with gameplay and commentary.

That is one loaded question, but I will do my best. Typically true Belgian beers make the use of candi-sugar in them which has a more sweet flavor than what you would typically get in most other beers. They also tend to use a lot of herbs and spicing that older beer producing countries like England did not tend to use or were in fact forbidden to use by law in Germany. That made them stand out. That is much more common in America, so that aspect is not as pronounced when comparing theirs to ours, but it was at one point.

Also, their yeast strains tend to have a lot more flavor producing qualities than many of the ones that are more commonly used here. There can be fruity and earthy notes from the esters that their yeast creates. That is not terribly common with most US yeast strains or even in other European strains with the main exception being what is usually used in the Hefeweizen style.

After saying all of that, typically the only difference between an American IPA and a Belgian IPA is the yeast used since candi-sugar and herbal spicing do not usually go with the style all that well. The extra flavors from it change the taste profile of the beer. One great way to see the difference yourself is if you could happen to find 2 beers by Lagunitas. Little Sumpin' Sumpin' and Little Sumpin' Wild are pretty close to the same recipe but with Wild using a Belgian yeast. Hopefully your tasting will have those to compare for you.

ETA: I also forgot one of the main differences in the bottled beer from there. They typically bottle condition. That is a fancy term for saying the beer creates its own carbonation in the bottle via another fermentation process. They add active yeast and priming sugar to the bottles. That is why they end up with dead yeast at the bottom and you need to pour a bit slower unless you want all the floaties in your glass. The carbonation it provides is different from the normal force carbonated beers we are used to.

Interested to see what their "reboot" looks like.

They say their early reviews were fairly positive but they started to get worse as time went on. Not surprising at all, the early reviews almost certainly didn't bother testing the online co-op. They say,

What a relief to see that it’s actually out and that people can play it! The first reviews started to come in, and the game scored pretty decent. We got 80% on Punk And Lizard, which made us happy, and a few other publications gave us good reviews.
but later say they couldn't get review codes out until launch day. So yeah, anyone who had a review up on launch day probably didn't put the game through its paces. Or they only played the first few levels before writing the review. I recall our first gaming session went fairly smoothly, with non-host lag being the only issue that any of us were running into. After we got past level 8 or so the wheels fell off. Glitches and game breaking bugs popped up everywhere. I'm guessing that was the point where they had to stop the QA and get it sent to Sony for certification.

Cool...thanks for the info.

Here's the list of beers at the place we're going (Boom Island Brewery) in case you were interested.

I am not sure if this will be guided in terms of what to drink in what order. If not, be sure to drink the classic Belgian styles first. The hops in the Pale Ale or Belgian IPA will pretty much wreck your ability to taste the nuanes in the others. Based on everything that is on tap I would go this order: Witness, Saison, Zarathirstra, Hoodoo, Brimstone, Silvius, Thoprock, Noire

If you are truly feeling adventurous, see if you can get a sample of the Oude Funk. Be prepared, you will have likely never tasted anything like it. It should be sour and extremely dry. Not many reviews out there, so I cant say with confidence it is truly representative but it is something I like for people to try if they have an opportunity without having to saddle up for an expensive bottle or pint purchase. If you do get a sample, it should be able to work in anywhere in the order. Sours are best for one thing in a tasting: palate cleansing. If you are feeling fatigued from too much sweet or sour they can wipe all that away a lot better than a saltine cracker.

Awesome. The tips are much appreciated. I shared your knowledge with my lady companion and she is much impressed.

The tasting is a Living Social deal where we get a flight of four 5-ounce beers and then two full pours, so I assume we choose the beers for each. We also get two pint glasses and a take home 750mL bomber of our choice. There are certainly worse ways to spend $20.

Damn! I am long-winded.
It's a good long winded. Knowledge is power (or something)

I don't recall if anyone here was interested in the Falco Amiibo, but he's been confirmed as a Best Buy exclusive.
Better than a TRU exclusive. Annoying tho, 'cause I use bby to get the GCU discount and now I'll have to fight the masses. Hopefully they stock this one better, I just want him to go with Fox.

Glad I could help. Jesus that is cheap. So cheap that I wont be surprised if it is a set 5 of year round beers you get with a limited 750ml selection. Who cares for that price though.

Just an FYI for knowledge sake: 750ml != bomber. The term bomber it is for the large format bottles that are 22oz in size.

The deal copy specifically said "750mL bomber of your choice" so they must be confused. I'm guessing the flight will be pre-selected and then we can get pours of whatever. But yeah, I couldn't pass up the deal to try a new brewery.

It is very commonly used wrong, so it does not surprise me. I just wanted to point it out to you so some angry beer nerd who hasn't showered in a week doesn't try to make himself look good by correcting you in front of your lady friend.

Bestbuy.com has a page up for it, but it's store-pickup only and you can't actually select any stores: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/nintendo-amiibo-figure-super-smash-bros-falco/4575401.p?id=1219770992857&skuId=4575401
I hate pick up only. But I'd guess it will be well stocked, no reason to suspect otherwise. And yeah, better than a TRU exclusive because of their TRU-tax and GCU at BB.

Falco, Mewtwo, Samus reprint, Shovel Knight, and one of the Yarn Yoshi's and I'll be set pending any other announced ones.

I just looked up one of those amiibo checklists and I have all of the smash line other than WFT and the retro 3pk(and the splatoon squid from the 3pack). Jfc I have a problem.

Going to pick up Corpse Party and Dragon Quest in a bit.  Surprised how many games I like are coming out today.

Streaming some Dragon Quest after work if anyone wants to watch.

older chicks are where it's at when you're younger.  the biggest gap I've had is 24 when I was 18 though.  it was fantastic.

edit - I'll edit thanks to therm - the _age_ was 24, it wasn't a gap of 24 years.

monoprice has the nathan drake ps4 bundle for $310 zimm

edit - there's also a deal that shows up for me on the ebay home page to get 4x ebay bucks on purchases of $100 or more. I don't know what that cashes out to though but that seems like it'd be wise to snag that real quick before hitting buy it now.
Where's the $15-$10 UC Collection codes though?

Well she's more like 33. 37 wow.

Yeah. But if you're scoring young latina college girls why are you going for an older chick?
Well this latina chick who comes about every month to pick up her son's med is getting a divorce soon. Ended up getting her number for coffee. Always had hooking up with a milf in my bucket list.

Also did a DPS search so not a junkie or a crazy from the looks of it so I'm down.

Hot older women are one thing when you are young and single. I am not sure I would want to deal with hot older women with kids when I was young and single though.

I wonder if she's telling her friends that she did a GWS search and found out you're a gamer nerd.
