Thanks Pharm for helping me get the Rocket League plat. Also thanks to Velo for offering to help.

Next up I will need someone to do co-op with in Far Cry 4. I just started the game though so it will probably be at least a week until I unlock the skill needed.

I watched some new hot shots golf and I am completely flaccid. That weird focus on social playing and xbox avatars are just awful.

Plus you have to walk to the next hole? Dear god why???
Sounds like I dodged a bullet by not playing it.

I feel like I didn't play much this weekend. And what I did play was mostly shooters.

Uncharted 4 multiplayer was what you'd expect. It had some mystical perks you could buy. You could also use the zip line at predesignated locations by pressing L1. Nothing to report otherwise.

Drawn to Death has an interesting art style but is an average shooter. Pass.

I thought Guns Up was a shooter but it's more like a side scrolling strategy game. You buy soldiers and they attack enemies and then you collect resources. Reminded me of Swords & Soldiers. I liked what I saw.

Killstrain was a 5v2v5 game. I was on the mutant squad which had 2 players. There are 3 different criteria to win depending on who you're playing as. The other squads were soldiers. I think their goals were to capture all 3 points. Ours was to drag people onto the virus strain that we spread across the map. If you're successful then they get turned into mutants and you can win by turning everyone and they switch to your team. We won by spreading the strain and then an outbreak occurred.

I had no idea what was going on for half of the game and thought we were getting our asses kicked. Once I figured out the mechanics I started downing people and spread the strain like crazy. Got some swag for being a top player.

Destiny Sparrow racing was fine. It reminded me of Star Wars podracing lol. Pretty fun.

Darkest Dungeon was a side scrolling
dungeon crawler. You select a destination on a map and fight through a bunch of rooms. Fairly standard turn based gameplay.

Far Cry 4 was Far Cry minus the guns. Not sure how I feel about that. The demo just threw you into the world with no direction. The guy finally came over and said to capture an outpost so I did and then the demo ended. I wasn't impressed with that experience.

There's definitely a focus on your animals. I got to pet my wolf and summon an owl. The owl can scan the outpost and lunge at and kill enemies. Otherwise I just had a club to attack. The enemies had bow and arrows so I just ran up on them and bashed them to death along with my wolf attacking them.

I finally tried a Lego game on Vita: Marvel Avengers. The prologue was from Avengers 2 where they are in the woods and attack that base. The game introduced coop moves. Captain America worked with Black Widow. Hulk with Captain America. Thor with Captain America. I liked the moves. You held a button to call for help and then they would combine to attack an enemy or get to another place. I liked it.

Amplitude hasn't really changed much. The gameplay is the same ol. Fly on musical highways and trigger sequences of notes for points. Not much to say.

Fat Princess was fun in 4 player coop. Kind of reminded me of a better Happy Wars. If you had full health and ate cake you'd turn into a fat version of your character regardless of class and beat the shit out of people. That reminded me of eating bread in Castle Crashers.

The surprise fun game for me was Tumbleblocks. It was a 4 player competitive match-3 game with a puzzle element built in. There is a specific way to clear the blocks on each level. If you can't move on it resets and you try again. First to win 3 matches wins. Hopefully it's online. Short and sweet matches.

Those are all the games I can remember right now. Not sure if I played anything else. But I definitely focused on bigger games this year. I think I preferred playing more indies like last year.

Time for bed! Got a long day of exploring San Francisco for my birthday.

This King Crazy trophy is really annoying. :wall:
Thread bitching ftw.

I watch them and never come away impressed. They do "just enough" to win. But that can be the mark of a good team too. In some ways it makes their record even more impressive. If this team had to go on the road week 1 of the playoffs I see them getting beat. But as it stands now, they get home field through the playoffs. That may be enough. Though I see them losing in the championship game.

Looking at the remaining schedule, its not that tough. Could easily finish up 16-0.
This Panthers team is my favorite kind of team, though: the one that plays together as a team better than the sum of their parts. They show you what can happen when everyone on a pro team buys in.

And you can't watch this and not smile:

I love this team.

Looks like Muschamp is putting together a strong recruiting staff; hopefully they can coach as well.

Travaris Robinson will be the DC; apparently the No. 1 ranked recruiter in the country in 2014. Kurt Ropet to be the OC; he was the OC the last year at Florida.

Recruiting has been our problem the last few years.

He can recruit for sure, but can he coach? Doesnt seem like it...

Robinson is probably the best DB coach in the country and a terrific recruiter. I hated to lose him, but I wonder if he will out kick his coverage by moving up to a DC. I was not impressed with Roper at all. Granted he only had one year and had Driskel and Harris as his QBs. Thing is he is the one who decided Harris could play QB and recruited him at that position after we already had Grier committed. That would concern me.

simmias summed up my exact thoughts:

Still day one for all parts.

I think I'm OK with this. Judging by the detail in that trailer, we weren't getting a full game for years and years. Looks like they're going all in with detail and story.
As long as Square-Enix delivers full-fledged games with each "part" similarly to the .hack series (which did the same kind of thing in telling one story with the same characters across multiple parts), I'll be happy. Maybe there will even be a Collector's Edition for the first part that comes with a case to hold every part's game case, which I'd buy like a sucker.

EDIT: Did the entire gaming community completely forget about .hack? It seems like everyone's crying "oh noez this is Telltale's Final Fantasy gtfo" when each .hack was released at $49.99 on PS2.

now I'm watching HGTV in hopes that I can pass out. Who the fuck goes island hunting???
Love that show, if I won a truckload of money in the lottery, first thing Id do is buy an Island.

Second thing id buy is sharks with freaking lasers on their heads to guard it.

more importantly, how do you get a job selling islands to people?
Wonder that too, if you watch a few episodes, you'll notice the same dude quite a few times as the person showing the people the island and supposedly selling the island. I am not entirely sure he is a legit island broker or just a guy hgtv pays to show the people around the island they bought and 2 others.

I'm talking about the blonde kid with the side part.  I have in my hands a gift wrapped decapitated head!

My wife drug the box out of the storage room and dropped it in the floor where the tree is supposed to go before she left for Florida. I'm not taking the hint.
Update: I did move the box this morning.

I was not going to have the maids have to vacuum around it today. I'll drop it back in the same spot when I get home tonight.

I think you have to play for a while to unlock daily challenges, maybe an hour. You have until about 8p est tomorrow to do it though. The associated trophy is essentially impossible to get otherwise and as far as I know this is only the second time this has happened. So hop on it!
Oh thank god, I still have a chance. Was gonna be mad if this had reset at midnight or something and I had missed it.

I had a lot more fun playing Rayman Legends last night then I ever did playing Rayman Origins.  Made it through the entire first painting collecting all of whatever blue dudes you collect (in the available right away levels at least).

I was gonna start Bastion too.  Now I may have to play more of Legends.

Damn you Mild and your heroin!

I'll let you know when it wears off.
hahaha and all, but don't do heroin. everyone i know who has used it once is a junkie and ends up dead or in jail.

just say no ;)

go take some theraflu instead. and if you wanna go down that path at least start with some black tar opium or something and see how you handle it. to each their own tho

In other news, the MLS cup was awesome. Two goals for portland in the first 10 minutes, one in the first 30 seconds. fucking insanity. Crazy awesome atmosphere, Timbers Army was louder than the crew fans most of the game and only took up maybe 20% of the stadium. I didn't particularly have a preference other than vaguely cheering for Portland, wore scarves for both teams and just swapped out whenever one would score a goal lmao.

I think one of the best highlights of the night was after the game was officially over, a horde of bike cops rolled out onto the field and set up a barrier between the dedicated crew fan section and the field so they couldn't jump down. One of the funniest things I've ever seen. There were at least 20 of them standing behind their bikes trying to look menacing lol.

Great time, the refs were shit most of the night, but it was still a really good game.

yeah thanks Wren for the knock ya into the ball and score trophy, i appreciate it. and yeah george i zoned out with that techno music and then 60 mins later i remembered i was gonna try to help ya. time flies when blahblahblah

yeah velo I'm not going to actually take heroin.  I'd be lost even trying to figure out where on earth to get it let alone what to do with it - I don't have the nuts to put a needle in my own arm, my nose is hell of stuffed up and I don't even like smoking unfiltered cigarettes.  it all sounds like way too much trouble.

thanks for your concern though!

i used to smoke a bunch of black tar with some chix back in my hipster days but its a pretty stupid high. like you just sit there for hours and do nothing and it turns off your brain. not really my bag at all. luckily. i dont do any hardstuff anymore, just not worth it or even my style

Waiting for car maintenance to be done, playing some more Nuclear Throne. So great to have this on Vita.

I need to get better at remembering to use character abilities. Often I forget when it gets crazy.

Anyone else who picked it up, have you gotten past 3-2? World 3 is tough. The game is a bit weird in that world 2 only has one level. 1-1 to 1-3, 2-1, 3-1 to 3-3, etc. I think that pattern repeats.

I think that's about where I ended up when I played this morning. Got the trophy for unlocking the plant guy, and then spawned into the next level with 6 or so guys who just destroyed my guy with little effort. Probably should have used my shield, but I keep forgetting about it.

I'd like to pick it up because it looks like kind of fun and a future 10% discount but I'm pretty burnt on tough as balls retro looking games.

Nope I started playing on my vita and that's when I noticed considerable lag. Everytime I reached BigDog, I'd die from the game sporadically freezing. Need to go back to it on PS4.

Played on PS4 this morning, definitly runs better on there even before you factor in the more precise controls.

I started Bastion over the weekend! Will play more today!  :grouphug:

I know were the hardcore but I'm surprised at how pumped people are for PS2 games. Not because they aren't awesome but once I play a game I'm pretty much done with it for the most part. Sure there are a handful of exceptions but in general don't go back too much. It's cool if there is a game you always wanted to play that's now available but I don't think I'll grab many if any of these.

Well, the last time I played Rogue Galaxy was the year of its release (2007) and I barely remember anything about it other than I had a lot of fun playing it.

That's strange because I'm not seeing any obvious lag when he appears. Seems fine.

You might try playing with the settings. There's a freeze frames option. I have no idea what that is, but I accidentally changed it and am not sure what the default is. Mine is set to 50% I think. Screen shake I changed to 110% because screen shake.

In one of my money fantasy leagues, I am up 16 points against a dude that is one spot from the playoffs and will be in with a win.  He has Dez tonight and I have the Dallas kicker.

He offered me good Bucks/Wolves tickets for when they're in town in early January if I bench my kicker tonight.

I've already clinched a playoff spot and will be the 5 seed no matter what if I lose, or the 4 or 5 seed if I win.  So that means that no matter what I would play the same person in the same bracket.

The conflict!

How're you liking it on Vita? I'm tempted to play Bastion on my Vita but I've got such an incredible Vita backlog at this point that I'll probably play on PS4 instead.

For the PS2 games...they're all things I've missed. I played a few games on PS2 but hardly anything, so a chance to go back for the highlights with trophy support and improved graphics is rather appealing. I'm the same as you as far as replaying stuff goes, though.
