Lost Dimension has been interesting so far, you talk to the people in between missions and you get a sense of their differing personalities. So far i think my favorite is the girl who is small in stature and fakes a British accent to be "cute," but has a TON of HP and her punches hit like a truck.
In addition to equipable weapons, you can equip one gadget (which functions like a piece of armor) that you can select what type of damage you want to have extra protection against, or you can just buff HP by a small amount. Then you have 2 app slots (like ring slots), apps will boost one of your stats so if you want to boost DMG, or Crit rate, or psychic attack damage, whatever, you can choose. Then there is a skill tree for each character which are a mixture of several passive abilities and selectable special attacks (called gifts). There is a lot of room for customization.
Gifts are psychic abilities, basically they are a mixture of magic and super powers. Each time you use a gift or you take too much damage, your sanity diminishes. If you let it reach zero on a character, they go Berserk. This GREATLY boosts their attack power, but they are now computer controlled and will attack ANYONE who comes close to them, including allies.
It's a turn-based strategy RPG like Final fantasy tactics, but the viewing perspective is down on the ground like a 3rd person shooter. You can only move so many steps per turn. If there is no one in range to attack you can either select wait to regain some sanity, use an item, use a gift to buff yourself or allies, or (if you are close to another ally) you can use a little sanity to transfer your turn to someone who has already had a turn that round (called Defer).
Each time you attack, any allies who are also in range will also attack. That is also the case with the enemy as well, So if one ally walks into the middle of 4 enemies and attacks, on the enemy's turn each time 1 of them attacks, the other 3 will join in with an assist attack. So 4 enemies taking turns attacking translates into you getting attacked 16 times total. This encourages your group(s) to stick close together while attempting to pick off stragglers from the enemy group.
Whenever one character attacks another, if the enemy is in range they have a chance to counter attack, but only against the character that makes the first attack (if there are follow-up assist attacks) So if for instance the person taking their turn is low on HP, they can walk to within attack range of the enemy, defer their turn to someone with higher HP, and let them attack. The character low on HP will still do an assist attack, but the ally with higher HP will eat the counter-attack.
