PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

tinkered around with the spreadsheet a little bit. i forget how all this stuff works, but you can kind of see where i was going with it. tried to stretch out the columns for the multiplayer games. that way you can write in what you want to work towards while playing. like my example for diablo. i want to finish hardcore, finish plat, and play for fun.

we'll do castlevania next month since we have diablo and rdr groups going already. i didn't add anything to the backlog section yet. didn't know when you were all starting that. i'm thinking we should do 2 games for each catergory. some of us will have all 4, but i imagine a bunch of us won't.

if people agree on better names we can change them. for now it's backlog beatdown and multiplayer monthly
Question for everyone and not just Derek: Is there any reason for us to keep all those past month theme tabs around?

No. At most I'd say make a "Past Themes" tab and then shove all the old stuff under there. Just copy/paste the data into the new tab and have a nice bolded header line at the top of each month with the theme title.

I think Ni no Kuni in February is the first Backlog Beatdown "entry".

Yes, I do not think the game was very fun either, but it might have been the motion sickness playing into that opinion.
Nope, the game wasnt fun at all. No motion sickness here. Just so boring and hard to get shit to work right with the first person view. I hated it. If they are still making that remake or whatever I can see it bombing. Again.

I really think they should have called it Kung Fu Bunny.  I keep calling it that in my head without even thinking.  Bunny is cuter and he is cute...plus its a good oxymoron when mixed with Kung Fu.

Oculus Rift costs $600. Ouch. I guess that's the price range you can expect for Playstation VR too. No way VR gets any foothold with that price range.

No way PS VR comes in that high. The console and headset would be pushing $1000 then. If they want to kill it before it gets started they can price it like that.

ETA: Sony has a bit more experience with making consumer electronics as well.

I had added it to my backloggery as well but I may not play it based on the flack it gets in here. You guys are generally right on with recommendations for the most part.
...I liked Mirror's Edge, at least on 360 (though I didn't go for all of the achievements). I have the PS3 version in my backlog.

Zimm I'll look more into that band: now I'll pass some music to you from the band Frank Jordan. If you like them I got all their albums and I plan to get all my music ripped and passed out to the PSNOTs for 2016.

This thing is something I want to do well because I don't want Sony to lose money on it, but at the same time I kinda want it to suck because I don't want it to be the future of gaming. Of course it could turn out the be the greatest thing ever and I could change my mind but I highly doubt it.

but you like everything vig

Somebody pointed out that PC gamers buy super expensive graphics cards, so maybe it will have some success there with that crowd.
Yeah but VR could be ultra cheap and it wouldnt sell well because it isnt the cost thats the real issue. People dont even want to wear 3d glasses. 3d tv died quickly because of that. How the fuck do they think people will want to cover their entire head for VR?

Especially when from what we have seen the graphics of these games still look like shit. It isnt VR if the world your in doesnt even look remotely close to reality.

Oh I didn't mention the other day but my kid can't get any trophies playing Skylanders Superchargers as the 2nd player which is fucking stupid. Are there any other games that do this?

Not really. Oculus Rift is really niche. I know one guy who got in with the first two versions and I tried the first one at his place. I've never even heard somebody else IRL mention it nor does anybody talk about it in the gaming threads I'm in.

I expect it to hit more with the casual gamer with too much money and enthusiasm and be a fun little diversion they play with once or twice and then forget about. That group's a lot smaller than the normal gaming crowd. I doubt professional gamers would have any reason to touch it. Same with people who are into leaderboards and such.

Those were good Bums, thanks for sharing. I'll check out more of their stuff.

So while looking over all the download list stuff, I noticed that the Patton game is showing as downloadable on PS3 and Vita.  It isn't supposed to cross-buy based on looking at the store page.  Even more interesting, using the script, it is not showing as PS3.

The script sometimes gets platforms wrong. I mentioned that yesterday IIRC (if not yesterday it was very recently.) I'm not sure where the problem comes in but I always double-check the results because of this. I'd guess there are some issues with the data that the store or download lists provide.

Download to PS3 and transfer to Vita.

The script also has trouble with cross-buy titles. Even when I disable visibility of PS+ games, if I "bought" the game on Vita for example and it's cross-buy with PS4 then the script acts like I bought it on PS4 normally. I'd assume this issue also comes from the store. Thomas Was Alone and Rogue Legacy and Don't Starve all show up as non-PS+ games for me, to give some examples. PSDLE probably has a ton of garbage to sort through and try to exclude because of these weird problems.

Their first cd took me 10 years to find and luckily picked it up from Amazon. I got you covered on all their albums. They're great for a 3 piece band and are the nicest guys.

I still got more music to rip and then on Xmas my brother and his wife brought me 100+ CDs and tell me they don't buy CDs anymore and gave me their collection so I got that still.

So far for helping grow music collections I got Simmias, Zimm, CrazyDiamond. Did I miss anybody?

$600 lol.

I guess if Sony now comes in anything lower than that it makes them look good.

Played some more Batman Arkham Knight last night. I'm further along in the main story than I thought. I think around 28 or 29 out of 36 of the main missions done. I get that the side missions unlock more over time but can anyone explain what's the logic of the system? I just want to rescue all the firefighters but I set that as the next waypoint and I only get the location sometimes? I guess it makes sense story wise but it's a little annoying. Probably won't 100% the game anyway but I wouldn't mind doing some more sides.

Been playing Bastion on Vita, they seemed to do a pretty great job on the port. It's feels a bit small on the screen but other than that it's been running well.

the waypoint thing in batman is a little weird. basically you can always set your waypoint to a side mission group, but it won't lead you anywhere unless you've 'discovered' or have been given the next potential location.

ex. firefighters - you rescue one. after that you set waypoint to that set of side missions and no marker. you're flying around and you hear/see a firefighter to rescue - you can then come back to him later by setting the waypoint to the firefighter side missions.
