PSNOT 3.0 - Let's Talk About University of Kentucky, Baby!

GOT

I thought it was fairly boring too, the kingsmoot and the iron islands are some of the worst stuff in the show as well as the books, just completely boring. Yea Euron is going to build a fleet, yada yada, still boring.

I thought the scene with Sansa and Peter Baelish was great, that and the revelation about the children of the forest was best part of the episode.

was one of the worst so far this season

Helldivers you only had to get to 25 for trophies, so prolly not as bad, but same concept I think. The first 15 or so levels come fairly quick, really slow after that.

Owl could attest to it the best I think.
I meant more in terms of scaling. Owl or Pancakes said at one point that from 24>25 was the same as 1>23 or something like that. Never been a big fan of when games do that.

Helldivers was the same way though wasn't it?
yep. the vast difference (for me) is that I could farm a double xp map solo offline over lunch in helldivers on the vita. dead star I have to be online, on the ps4, playing with other people, and I can't mindlessly grind it because the effort you put in directly correlates to the amount of xp you get (if you just sit around and do nothing you'll essentially get zero xp, if you are working the whole time you'll get 5-6k).

hahahaha god I hate this awful series of video games I've never played.

Agree to disagree. I'm too invested in the books/show at this point and even admittedly slow stuff (e.g., High Sparrow ramblings) has me entertained.

Therm probably posted a similar video, but this all but guarantees that I'll be getting Downwell tomorrow:

It's a bit weird that my PSNP trophy card still shows Uncharted 4 when I've earned trophies from Amazing Spider-Man and Dark Souls III since my last UC4 trophy.

No the high sparrow scene with margery was one of the BEST scenes this season, that was great.

Iron islands is complete shit.

Right, I earned two Dark Souls III trophies last night / this morning and synced them before shutting off the PS4, so the image should be for that, not UC4.
Yeah, but had you already synced your latest UC4 trophies before that? If there was a UC4 trophy and a few DS3 trophies in the same sync and it uploads them alphabetically then UC4 would be the last synced.

Yep, though you could let the game collect XP itself while running, that's not possible (I assume) in Dead Star.

Basically starting at lvl 6, every next level up takes 27.5% extra XP to attain so by the time you reach lvl 20 the increased XP requirements per level are pretty significant. 24->25 is about as much as 1-19.

A progression like that doesn't really make sense when the opportunity for XP stays consistent throughout. I'm sure they decided to be dicks about it in order to stretch out the game's online longevity, though.

As you get better and have more upgraded equipment you can tackle higher difficulty missions which offer more XP. The double XP events during attacks and defenses events help decrease the grind as well. If you can get a good upgraded team of 3+ friends (all max thunderer barrage and one max the mech with the rocket launcher) there's a way to farm a boss battle for a lot of XP. (like 250K per hour).

Why doesn't the 3DS have a great suspend feature like the Vita where you can leave it for 2 weeks and still get back into your game?

Just closing the 3DS doesn't work? My XL always turns the screen off when I close the system.

If you're not gonna play the damn thing for 2 weeks, just plug the damn thing in. It's not that hard.
Actually IIRC it doesn't even last a week. It's an odd change since I had a DS at one point and I remember that still having plenty of power when left for over a month.

Also I wasn't complaining about it or anything. It was a statement of fact in response to a question. So fuck off.

Home front is pretty bad but not as bad as it could be I guess. The frame rate definitely fucks with you trying to shoot and platform in first person. Running and jumping with sub par frame rate is just frustrating .

Dark Souls 2 plat get. The DLC was great so if you decide to play it you should definitely pick up a Scholar of the First Sin edition for PS3 (which is compatible with vanilla DS2 saves) or PS4.  In replaying it again in NG+ and looking up stuff on wiki's it looks like the PS4 version is easier as they toned down how often you have to face a lot of enemies at the same time. There are also a lot more NPC summons so it will be more future proofed when the online population begins to decline if you need help with a boss. There are also extra copies of consumable items that are needed to progress and unlock hidden item locations.

It gets a bad rap for some reason, the world design isn't as interesting at times as Dark Souls 1, though never did I get the sense that they ran out of time and haphazardly threw a bunch of enemies into a sparse areas. There aren't as many high points in level design as DS1, but low points aren't nearly as low. Parts of the last 1/4 of DS1 look unfinished like the giant lava cavern full of rampaging dragon butts. There is very little in DS2 that screams to me " fuck it, that will have to do".

I also enjoyed the combat mechanics more in DS2 and there is a dizzying variety of weapons to choose one. Almost too many at times, all with different strengths, weaknesses, and a variety of movesets. Voice acting is all great, music is great, and the the story added through the DLC and Scholar of the First Sin update helped flesh out the lore a little better.

The plat requires leveling up in some of the PvP oriented covenants, though there are offline ways to level those up and some of them you can get the rewards by buying them from a Vendor in NG++. So you can plat the game without having to engage in any PvP, or go online.
