Rainbow Six: Vegas - Gen. Discussion & Info

Also: for the "use all gadgets" achievment, does that mean like Frag Grenades, Smoke Grenades, Incendiary 'nades, C4, Breaching charge, etc? Because I haven't gotten that yet, and I'm pretty sure I've used all the explosives... or is there a menu I have to go to somewhere to equip gadgets?
I felt the same way as you when I first played it but after about a week, it really started to get into it. Just remember, the MP7A1 is your best friend on Live.
I haven't used anything in SP but the MP9 and Commando rifle w/6x scope since I started the game, expcept, of course, when the Commando runs out of ammo.

Also I've been using the Raging Bull since I picked it up from a dead terrorist. Damn fine pistol.

ive been playing some games on live and has anyone noticed how horrible the camera angles are on here? also i had to quit some games, not sure if it was the lag or anything, but the screen would stutter alot, it was impossible to know even what direction to go at itmes

It's not too hard, just hit one of those ammo crates and choose an item, walk a little bit and throw one and backbrack to the crate and repeat.

Quick question that hopefully someone can answer. I know this game has 2 player co-op both offline and online, but can two players play in a regular match on the same TV like in Gears of War not going through the missions? Thanks.

Broccoli Storm No. Just co-op.

By the time I realized I should go for it (Dante's casino, I believe) there weren't any ammo crates left.

I think there are some ammo crates in Mexico, so I suppose it won't be too hard to start a new campaign and finish that one up.

Just do scene select and pick trains mission, as a crate box is right there at the start.

Just got done with borders on realistic, and got my tough hombre achievement :). So hopefully my realistic wont reset to normal, but it shouldnt since i started realistic from the begining.

They're less frequent but there are still some crates in the last half of the game, including on the last or next to last mission.
No, he has to pick it up, but he can pick it up from you. Just turn on or off friendly fire (whichever makes it so you can kill eah other). You have a shield, he kills you, take your shield, then he should be able to select it in the equipment. Or, play a level, find a gun a T drops, you swap your sheild for it, he swaps his gun for your shield.

I'm fairly sure that would work. When I play with my friend in Co-Op t-hunt(offline), if he takes one of my weapons when I die that he doesn't have(not sure if you have to finish the level, its been a while), he can chose it in the equipment the next game.
thanks dude. Hopefully it works since that would be much better than both of us having to get it.

edit: I picked up the shield on single player and my roommate was able to immediately select it for thunt without me having to drop it.
Bah. I just beat the campaign, and I can explain my feelings with one word:

JIPPED.
Same here (beat it last night).

It was so unintentionally funny.

I don't think those crazy French Canadians realize how humorous this is to an American audience. My theory is they are so amused by all the weird American accents that they threw them all in there. That and the fact that they couldn't get real voice acting.

It's hillarious enough that absolutely EVERY member of your team comes from a different region of the globe, but when every scientist and civilian has his own riddiculously overexagerrated accent (my favorite: the slovak scientist), you just can't help but burst out in laughter.

Add to that a riddiculously cheasy storyline that is impossible to follow not because of its complexity, but because let's face it: who gives a shit?

There were a couple fun moments, one point I do remember clearly is saving/reuniting a civillian family (god did I feel badass when they thanked me), but overall, the game's SP gets a 7.

And really, with the rather singularly focused MP, the game's multiplayer gets a 7.5

Most overrated game of the year.
After you enter Xbox Live from the main menu in Vegas, it's somewhere in the last menu option where you can check your rank, clan tag/prefix, etc.
Thanks.

Does anyone know with online T-Hunt, do you gain experience points in Player or Ranked matches?
Thanks.

Online, you get exp. for any mode, ranked or unranked, win or loose, etc.

Rad. I've been playing a lot online to try and get more gear for my character. Good to know I don't need to do ranked matches to gain more exp.

I'm loving this game so far, but damn is it short. I've only been playing for the last day or so and I've already hit the last mission. The multiplayer will keep me busy for a really long time, but it's stinks that the single player isn't long.

I was also really surprised at the "Normal" difficulty level because it feels really easy. If I knew I wouldn't have that much trouble I would've cranked it up to "Realistic". Oh well, I'll probably do another single player run through on the harder setting later on.

I dont mind the single player campaign being "short". It took me about 9 hours to beat the game on normal co-op and am replaying the game on single player realistic mode now. The replay value and modes are there, plus you can rank up by playing co-op with your friends so thats pretty nice.

Any news on whether the Realistic mode glitch has been fixed? The one where if you start a game on Normal and go back to Realistic, it reverts back to Normal? I wanted to start a new game since it's short and fun to go through.

I'm thinking an all CAG T-Hunt or Team Sharpshooter should be held tonight. just send me a invite if someone sets up a room gamertag is in the sig.

Sounds good. Hopefully I'll be on in an hour or so. We'll see.

I agree with Happy Panda. I just beat the game this morning and I felt pretty let down. I had a blast playing through the single player, length aside. I think it was more of how the game ended:

The story was so crazy to follow, it was all over the place. When you finally find out that your teammate was working with Irina the whole time....well I asked myself if I should care. I honestly didn't remember who the guy was at first. Of course it obviously sets things up for a sequel. I was also disappointed with how easy Irina was, total pushover. I thought the last boss in Ghost Recon: AW was more challenging/fun.

The multiplayer (for me), makes up for most of it though. I've been having a blast playing all the different modes and slowly getting used to playing online. I really like playing the retrival/canister matches.

I'm trying to finish up Co-Op T-Hunt on both Dam and Casino Vault.

The first map is frustrating simply because of how large it is Also add in the fact that there are a million doors in that place.

I'm getting R6:Vegas in via a trade. Just wondering how the online was setup. Is it still tactical like the single player or is it kinda just a free-for-all?

I've only played Counter Strike on the PC a few times, but I'm guessing it's more like that, or a team deathmatch. True?

You can run and gun effectively on this game. But good team work can do wonders also. If I had to choose one genre to put it in I would say it's more run and gun than anything else.
is the "Sniper" achievement done with 10 sniper rifles kills in a SINGLE ranked match?
Yes.
I don't have it, because I don't play ranked matches, but the easiest way to get it is play attack and defend on Calypso Casion on Bravo (or defend). Just spawn in the keno room and stay there, while picking people off. It makes it easier if Alpha is full of point whores and don't return the case.

Thanks, I got the achievement early this morning.

I personally hated that achievement, simply because I had to use a weapon I'm terrible at. Lucky for me the Ranked match I played in earlier this morning, had an Alpha team that bunched up near the helipad. It made it really easy to get those 10 sniper kills.

I usually don't play Ranked matches either, most of the people I've run into there are way too serious about the game. Player matches are definitely more fun.

Agreed, Ranked matches are annoying. But I havnt played this game in a month and a half and Im gonna get back into it this weekend (3 day).

This really is a great game and a great series. Other than the part of me dying so damn often... But it picks up right where RB6 left off.

Also, is it easy to get 200+ achievement points with this? I'm looking for a fun game to complete my Old Spice challenge. Would going through single player accomplish this?

Also, how long is single player about? GRAW2 was kinda short.

It is an easy 200 nerd points. I believe you get 180 for beating the game and 30 points for scanning your face into the game (provided you have the vision cam). Anyways, there are quite a bit of other online achievements that are not too difficult to attain.

I say go for it. ;)

T Hunts on normal is an easy 50 too iirc, and takes about an hour if you don't mess up, probably 2 for a normal player though. Just make sure you either do them in order, or write down what ones you finish, as its a pain in the ass not knowing which ones you need =p
when is the map pack due?
I was wondering the same thing

Then again I am curious if it would matter, simply because everyone plays the same maps. Especially on "Attack and Defend" and "Team Sharpshooter"

I am however looking forward to the new game modes, especially "Assasination"

Damn. Anyone else having freezing issues with rainbow today? Twice did I get a black black screen. Never had it happened before.
Bump... the days in March are dwindling quickly... anyone have any idea what's happening with the expansion?
I was just thinking of this last night ... where the hell is the expansion? "Sometime in March" is coming to an end.

These days you gotta expect delays... Do you know anything new that hasn't been delayed that was highly anticipated?? Watch when Halo 3 comes out. lol
Bump.

Is that DLC out yet? Is this game worth jumping into right now at 30 dollars? I loved the demo!
DLC is not out. If you have an XBL Gold account, you'd be stupid NOT to buy it for $30.
