Most of the stuff that Gamestop price drops tends to be in line with universal price drops, but because not all of them are, this thread is warranted. Also, if the price of the new item has dropped in price, expect the used item price to similarly follow suit and be $2-$5 less than its new retail price. Sometimes the used version drops first, but both are often around the same time.

Many of these items are sold out in stores since they're old and won't get restocked (Gamestop, after all, tends to make most of its money from selling used games), so you'll have to do a zip code store search for the appropriate title to hopefully find it in your area if you can't buy the item online.

All of this information is presented on the Gamestop website, but because of their new "Price Drop" algorithm, it doesn't really display when new price drops hit. Since I started keeping a running list for current platforms, I figure its easy enough to do a comparison to my lists every week. I generally run the reports once a week on Wednesday mornings, because I've noticed most price drops occur on Monday or Tuesday mornings so I wanted to catch those on the weekly report. If you find price drops sooner than my weekly Wednesday morning report, feel free to post them in the thread so others can get a "head start". I no longer have time to maintain this thread due to my new job but feel free to continue posting Gamestop price drops in this thread or if anyone wants to take over just let me know. Thanks!

Saw "Trackmania DS" down from $29.99 to $19.99. It a racing game. The PC version is great fun (and the older version is a free download). The DS reviews have been good if not great. Portable version should be fun at least since it still hats lots of tracks.
Snagging my copy on payday.

Yeah, but sometimes the "price drop" is actually a month old. And some systems have 150 or more games to sort through with price drops. As I stated a few posts up it was much easier to see them (and quicker to read them) when they were posted in this thread.
 
What i do is periodically check their price drops on their website. Just click the show button and 50 results per page. Takes no time...actually it looks like they recently updated it. I'm waitin for Tomb Raider Underworld(PS3) to drop, i saw it at Target yesterday for $29.99, but GS still has it at $49.99. Cmon GS!!! I'd like to get it used with edge.
 
Nice week, new Platinum Hits, new price drops...still no Uncharted. MGS4 probably outsells it 10:1 and that game gets PH but still no Uncharted?
 
MGS4 was much more front loaded than Uncharted and Uncharted is in the bundle so lowering its prices hurts the bundles value.

Sounds about right. I bought Mirror's Edge ($34.99 - Free), Quantum of Solace ($44.99), and Tomb Raider Underworld ($44.99) back in March during one of these sales. A week later QoS and ME dropped to $24.99.
 
Anyone know if the Persona 4 guide has dropped to $5 yet? My store still has them marked at $20 but I know they dropped to at least $10 now if not less.

my GS had 2 P4 guides marked as $4.99...they rang up as $9.99, so it may have been a pricing mistake. they still honored the prices for me

Not sure what will happen to the new price, but the used price should start to take a nose dive. Look at all the bundled games with the 360 and their relative prices (Forza 2/MUA, arcade compilations, Kung Fu Panda/Lego Indiana Jones). All can be had cheap. There's usually more trade-ins on bundled games; so more stock, lower price. Just my opinion.
 
Looks like Star Wars: Force Unleashed dropped across all systems. PS3/360 down to $26.99 used, all the others at $17.99 used.

Star Ocean: First Departure on PSP is $17.99 used.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine took a dip on all systems. $44.99 on PS3/360, $34.99 on Wii, $26.99 on PSP, and $17.99 on PS2

Yes, for used. The used price already has been a little lower than the norm for games that still sell new at $60. But should fall more soon.

dont know if its been mentioned but i got a Xbox 360 Resident Evil 5 Collectors edition for $69.99 today at a gamestop...the tag was dated 5/30/09

wasnt this $79-$89 when it came out?

Aside from Target, EB/GS has dropped prices on new games faster then the other Very YMMV places people go and at least when they do have a deal on something it is easier to grab something.

This is incorrect. There are a lot of games that Gamestop has the cheapest new price for, especially DS games.

Well it was $19.99 at Best Buy a few days ago, along with House of the Dead Overkill.

Sure, it was a "deal of the day" type thing and online only, but it was no problem pricematching it in store.

People bother with GS because they have credit to burn and can't spend it anywhere else than GS, plus on some items, they do have good prices. Other people dislike Best Buy, Target, Blockbuster, Game Crazy, et. al., for their own reasons, and they go to GS.

If you don't like going to GS, thanks, we understand. Door's over there, in the back. Don't let it hit you in the ass on the way out.

I got it at "good old Gamestop" for 29.99 a month ago.
