Red Dead Redemption- Out Now

Do the blue dot missions like when you have to
help a crashed caravan get criminals back, shoot four birds in a minute, or help a caravan that was attacked by criminals
count towards your 100% completion or are they never ending? What does count towards 100% completion?
And I finished the game this morning, I was really digging the ending, it was funny though, because I thought
it's kinda stupid how John dies and then you continue playing as him, and then when I realized you played as Jack for the rest of the game, I was very pleased.

Those are just side missions and are randomly scripted because the same situation happens multiple times in the game. The main objectives you should worry about after beating the game are

-Complete all 57 Story Missions
-Collect all 5 Rare Weapons
-Collect all 9 Outfits (A specific 9 are needed for 100%)
-Buy all 13 Houses (Rentals do not count)
-Work all 5 Jobs
-Beat all 8 Gang Hideouts (7 for Xbox 360)
-Get Legendary Status in/Complete all 4 Challenges (Hunting, Treasure, Sharpshooting, Survivalist).
-Complete all 20 Bounty Locations.
-Help all 18 Strangers ("I know you" does not count)
-Win all 6 Mini Games
-Discover all 94 Map Locations

A minor complaint, once you finish a mission from the main storyline they should keep it available on the map if you wanted to replay again at any time especially once youve beaten the game. Unlike the icon disappearing the map. I probably wouldnt have interest to replay the single player all the way through, but would be nice to pick and choose certain missions to

I was playing in free roam last night and some huge black wart hog and cougar double teamed me out of nowhere on the train tracks near that area right above the herding missions, gang shootouts like you do in co-op. First the cougar took out my horse, then while on the ground the warthog steamrolled me. Got attacked several times since I respawned in the same area. I do hope in DLC or add on missions they make the hunting more detailed in free roam/online and maybe a fishing, river based mission than just only sititing on a raft and shooting. i would agree utilizing the mining, upper mountain area better. i havent done advanced co-op missions (which i assume is only a tougher difficulty level), but the original ones lose a bit of interest once they are played through many times. Did anyone notice in some of the online trailers, marston was looking through some binoculars and hunting buffalo. I was waiting for them to incorporate this into a single player mission, but it never happened

You can replay any mission you want if you go to STATS>MISSIONS. I think thats what the menu says, i could be wrong, but you can replay any missions.

By the way is there a known glitch with the deadly assassin preorder bonus from GS? I redeemed the code when I started the game and forgot about it then after I finished the game to 100% I realized that I never came across the outfit. I looked it up online and saw the requirements and went to
coots chapel
where you're supposed to find the first piece but it wasn't there. Is it a glitch or was I too late because I have already finished the game?

If it's a glitch- major fail for GS first the special edition soundtrack is a download only and then the preorder bonus doesn't even work!?

Is anyone else experiencing infinite loading screens when trying to play the DLC co-op missions? I can hear the other people over the mic but the loading screen goes on forever
Is there a way to go back to a mission if you somehow advanced past it ?

I passed Mexican Caesar, and I want the full 100% .
Press start --> stats --> missions

From there, you can replay any passed missions

I did when I first downloaded. Just restarted my xbox and everything worked fine after that. Hope it works for you also.

Well, finally got 100% and did most of the achievements I could (all single player achievements done except the 500 kills with mounted weapons, some multiplayer and outlaws to the end done). Probably best game of the year for me so far.

Try downloading the game to your hard drive and see if it helps. You may just have a very bad (Strict) NAT type.

Loved it, finally got around to finishing it this weekend. Loved the ending. I was like wtf this gonna be a bitch and then.......

Missions got kinda tedious after a while I hate following people around on horse back but the story works and just quick travel everywhere else.

70.1% complete and only got 355 achievement points... LOL you can tell i'm not a score whore.

COmpletely different games, but does anyone think GTA4 was more detailed? I'll admit the learning curve in gta4 was much harder, i lost interest, and had not played it awhile. But after watching youtube videos on some tips and tricks there's lots of things i ignored and had not done. So i might consider playing it again. I finished the single player in RDR, some of the missions and storyline dragged on and had repeated some things. Not complaining, great game though, one of the best ive played in years. I probably prefer the RDR multiplayer though. I just hope they have an extended episode DLC or more missions and variety in free roam

So somehow I got pushed back to Level 1 and everything got wiped as far as multiplayer goes. The single player started me off at the very start also... but my saved game is still intact. Think my saved game file got messed up somehow. Not really worried about it - the only thing it messes up is the free roam which I do not do anyway. I had not done much of the co-op so no real harm there.

Glad co-op gives lots of XP - back up to level 10 in just a few games lol... wheeeee

So the advanced co-op is very hard, i guess i'm used to locked on shooting so its much harder without it. I'd probably prefer new additional co-op missions than harder difficulty ones

Use the Springfield, Bolt Action, or Buffalo Rifle and aim for the head. Save up your Dead Eye for when the traveling sequences come up so you can easily wipe them out from horse back.

Two pieces are planned so far.

We’ve announced the Outlaws to the End (free) Co-Op DLC Pack, which you should expect sometime in June. We’ll have more details on that pack specifically very soon. Look for some screens unveiling one of the other missions in that pack very soon. But also know that there will definitely be more DLC packs to follow, later this summer and into the fall. Some exciting things are planned – we’ll be announcing info including release time frames and pricing on those in the coming months.

News just released today. Via Kotaku:

There are four new expansions coming from Rockstar Games for the hit Western Red Dead Redemption. One of them will bring zombies.

Plus... new animals? Red Dead Revolver characters? Anti-griefing somethings-or-other?

Rockstar outlined the four new paid expansions to Red Dead Redemption today, promising the next one for August and the following downloadable packs in the coming months. The DLC, which will be offered for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, expands the single player and multiplayer aspects of the game.

(The following summaries are quoted from a press release)

1) Legends and Killers Pack (Early August 2010, $10)

-New active map locations, characters and more
- 9 new multiplayer map locations — more than doubling the amount of territories in the multiplayer competitive modes;
- 8 new multiplayer characters — play as characters from Red Dead Revolver
- Introducing a new projectile weapon: the Tomahawk, with corresponding challenges for single-player and multiplayer gameplay
- New achievements and trophies;

2) Liars and Cheats Pack (TBD release date; $10)

- New competitive modes, multiplayer mini-games in Free Roam, and more
- Attack and Defend multiplayer competitive mode and challenges;
- New multiplayer horse races, complete with mounted combat;
- Play as the heroes and villains of Red Dead Redemption, as well as 8 additional multiplayer characters;
- Multiplayer versions of Liars Dice and Poker from the single-player game
- Introducing a new weapon: the Explosive Rifle, with associated challenges available in single-player and multiplayer gameplay;
- New achievements and trophies;

3) Free Roam Pack (TBD release date; $10)

-Delve deeper into the world of Red Dead Redemption with
new modes, challenges and gang hideouts to discover
-New action areas and defensive placements
-Posse scoring and leaderboards;
-New anti-griefing measures in Free Roam (Note from Stephen: Any theories on this, readers?)

4) Undead Nightmare Pack (TBD release date; $10)

- Ghost towns and cemeteries come alive in a West gone horribly wrong:
- Brand new single-player adventure, challenges and quests;
- 8 new multiplayer zombie characters;
- Additional animals unleashed in the world;
- New dynamic events and more

Those new DLC do sound nice, but I think I am going to pass. Multiplayer in game isn't really my cup of tea, but being able to player Liar's Dice with other people sounds nice. The Undead Nightmare Pack sounds interesting too.

It's a little disheartening to see they're focusing solely on multiplayer with all this DLC. I don't play multi that much so I'm not really excited about any of this. The Undead pack sounds cool, but zombies again? They're so overused in games where they don't belong.

Probably in for the Undead pack for single player. If it comes out around the same time as Dead Rising 2 I'll probably wait and hope it eventually goes on sale.

Like others have said, this turns me off since they are all online multiplayer. Even after the update i had a hard time staying connected online. I would have preferred single player DLC, oh well. Now i might sell this game.

Took a break from this to play Bioshock for the first time, but I will definitely get these as I have an absolute BLAST playing multiplayer with my friends. Although, I might be done with the game by the time all of them come out.

Almost done with the campaign
Just dropped the crazy doctor off at the train so he could go back to Yale
how much longer do I have? Had a ton of fun with this game so far and the DLC sounds pretty interesting. Still haven't got a chance to do the co-op which I was waiting to do until I beat single player.

I was doing the
funny guy
stranger mission and I
accidentally killed the funny guy while I was in the mine
. Am I out if luck or
will he respawn
?

Mounts can really piss me off sometimes. You call them, they come running, and just when you go to get on they keep running. Then you chase it because it stopped and it starts running again, away from you! :bomb: I also hate when you get off and they decide to run off. Like when you go to skin an animal, or in free roam i get off the horse to replenish my ammo and dead eye meter at those camp sites.

Just call them again and they will stop running away from you.

I do but sometimes they keep running. Maybe the bull/buffalo act differently than horses?

Finally beat all of the advanced co-op missions, Walton's Gold kept glitching on me where it would spawn a pile of mine carts in the way so you couldn't push the one with all the gold out.

Going to try to Gold all the advanced co-op missions sometime this weekend or next week.

At that point I wouldn't think you had but maybe 2-3 main quests/missions left before you get to the final chapters of the game. I'd say 3-5 hours of gameplay left if you focus only on the story.
Yeah the nightmare pack sounds pretty cool. New animals, zombies, i think ill buy that one. But the rest i doubt it.
Agreed.

I'm sort of disappointed they're focusing so much effort on new multiplayer stuff. RDR is my favourite game this year, but the online portion of the game just isn't my thing. Single-player is where it's at, IMO. Hopefully the Nightmare pack adds a lot of cool offline content.

I think they had to get it out the door and were going to try and get the multiplayer up later on in DLC. The reason why they're focusing on multiplayer stuff is that's where this game's weak spot is.

As for the horses always moving away from you, it helps if you get a good ones from the wild, they stick to your side most of the time compared to the horses you get in the beginning.

I can't wait to deakeye some zombies!:bouncy:

Going back to the mounts running away... The horses are fine, they come to you and stay. But i find that the buffalo, and bull will run wild sometimes.

I finally maxed out my MP character, Zebra Donkey unlocked. Im pretty disappointed in the legendary characters you unlock, especially the last one WTF? Aside from the first one, the rest seem dumb or just like normal characters.

Now i can try to complete all these free roam challenges without having them reset on me.

My brother is having trouble breaking wild horses and it is stopping him from completing the game. He can complete the horse breaking jobs but anything wild just throws him off immediately. Anyone have this issue?

@faceturd
This may sound super simple, but it happened to me.
See if he's using the proper stick for balance. I completely forgot at one point which was which, and I fell of a horse like 5 times before experimenting and realizing I had mixed them up.

Tip: Use the left stick not the right.

Haha that's dedication right there. yeah the best way to knife a bear is on a story mission. You'll know which one it is when you get to it. Also use that Buffalo Rifle, yeah twice and then knife.

I had a funny glitch last night. I was in the town helping West Dickens sell his tonic. After the mission ended, I whistled for my horse, and he ended up on the top porch of buidling there facing the windows. It looked like he was looking inside the room up there.

Is anyone teaming up on the more obnoxious online achievements? Specifically, the win 3 straight FFA public matches and win 4 straight team matches achievements. I don't know why, but I'm mysteriously obsessed with getting them all on this game and these two are a pain. So if anyone's interested in working together on these feel free to add me (I'm mostly on in the mornings).

I still need those, also.

ya I still need the 3 FFA wins also - there is a good method posted on 360Achievments.org:
Winning three consecutive Free For All games requires you to play three games none stop and win each one. If you quit out or decide to join another FFA session your progress will be lost.

You will either have to be very lucky or be very good at the various game modes that you will enter.

Boosting Method:
Join a public free roam session with a friend. Establish a Posse and go to any FFA game marker on the map. Make sure you're away from other players in a quiet section of the map. Now that you're both in a Posse walk up to the FFA Game Marker and press Y together. This will start a game lobby with both players. Press and hold Y to start the game.

Now you should both be in a lobby together, press d right to start force start the game. Allow whoever is going first to win the duel, then the person who isn't going to win the round quits out of multiplayer. Exit back out to your main game.

The player who is going for the three consecutive wins now needs to invite their friends back into the game. You should both be back in the same lobby, keep repeating this process until one player has all three wins.

If other players join your game lobby vote to kick them out so they don't interfere with the outcome.

I swear the 10 assists thing is glitched lol - I have got 9 assists over 15 times and never broke the 10 barrier.

And I found if you sit on one of the cannons to the right of one of the gates in El Presidio you can push out 500 kills in not much time. If you get the right one its hard for the law to get you.
