Thanks to ozzymandd for catching those Pokemon guides.
 
When in the world will Final Fantasy III and Animal Crossing: WW drop? I doubt they're even in my reserved locations at Best Buy any longer, since I moved them behind the PC guides.

LOL I should stash a couple guides I want in prime locations, if I ever hope to get another guide for a cent ever again. I should try that lowest empty shelf they somehow keep empty in the PC game section. Hell, I had an original Oblivion guide stashed there for about 4 months and only just recently picked it up, which had them scrambling to price check the rest of the guides.

Then again, I never have anyone else with me to distract the employees while I duck down and stash them and almost always feel like I'm being watched.

Didn't BB have the Nintendo Pokemon DP guide and Pokedex? They aren't on the site. The pocket Pokedex is also gone, and I know I've seen that in stores recently.

Though, it's not been the process of dropping to $9.99 on month X, and then to a penny on month X+1, sometimes it's month X + n.

Wouldn't n be a value of finite improbability? Just feed n into a finite improbability generator, give it a decent, hot cup of tea, and we should be able to determine which store will be dropping the price on what guide when.

I just got offered a job at a local GameCrazy. Mmm, I have a job (serving) that pays very nicely and is extremely easy to pick up shifts at. Should I work a shift or two there a week solely to grab guides and rare games? From the front of the store, I can see the epic pile of long-ago pulled guides in the back room... *ponders*

And if you do happen to get some guides and you do want to trade them and you feel inclined to check my tradelist...I wouldn't object.:)

Picked up Rainbow Six Vegas, Legend Of Spyro: New Beginning yesterday at TRU. There was also some Code & Cheat book & Madden 07 that was .01 too but I didn't get them.

Picked up a lone Devil Summoner guide at GS while picking up DDS1. It was a store that seems to crackdown on guides so probably wouldnt have gotten it if i wasnt buying something.
 
Thanks for the post, Number83. Since $5 is about what I'd expect to pay from another CAG, shipped, this takes care of that situation for the Spiderman 3 guide.

Hopefully, this might be a new trend with EB/GS. We could only be so lucky.

We can pull this off at BB with the GamePro coupons, if they ever come back, when BB drops the guides down to $9.99.

Gamestop also did it with the Lego Star Wars guides and a few others recently. I was very happy getting a Lego Star Wars 1 guide for $4.49 (for some reason 10% was taken off when I gave my Edge card even though it wasn't a used guide).

Now, all they need to do is start dropping the prices on ALL guides, not just ones that they may be 1-3 months from pennying. And with the LE guides or the hardcover art books, it seems that GS's policy is 'full price or nothing' on them. If the Art of WOW book dropped to $5, I probably would've bought it, but @ $25-30 a pop, no fuckin way.

If I want artwork or guides, I can find multitudes of the stuff online for the price of my monthly internet fees or I can trade HERE for ones I truly want once they penny out.

Yet, the fact that these things are still produced en masse means people ARE buying them in big numbers still or I'm sure they would've stopped producing them years ago.

I think I saw them yesterday (or the day before) at my local GS. I've got to go over there today anyhow and find out if the Bioshock figures are broken, I'll confirm once I return.

those are still $4.99 which I find odd. I price checked it 5 days ago so I don't know if it got pennied in that timeframe.
 
My GS looks like it just got rid of like 30% of it's inventory. There were no Lego SW guides left. The Gears of War one was tempting at 5 bucks but after flipping through it, there's really nothing valuable inside unless you're looking for COG tags.

And on the $5 guides: I'd buy quite a few for that price, so I hope GS does this more often.

That guide (Godfather 360 version) has actually been pennied out since 1/29/07. I'm not sure why it's just showing up on their website now.

Best bet on new penny guides will be this Monday as BB almost always does it on a Monday.

I wish GS would take on the old ways of EB Games, even moreso than using the Edge cards to put credit on instead of those disappearing ink credit slips GS used to use.

What I mean by that is, I wish GS would take in used guides, even if it was at like $1 a pop and they charged $3-4 each for them. I miss those days VERY MUCH, since you could find some GOOD used guides in the stacks @ EB every so often. Then again, doing that would negate any reason for them to penny guides I think and many would miss out on nearly free/free guides.

Plus, if they took in the guides for even .50 each, I could make some serious credit with all the unique guides I've amassed since I found CAG.

They could easily limit it to no duplicates. And at least in my area, it was GS that sold used guides long after EB quit, and after the merger they both quit. I found some great ones in the used section and would love for them to bring this back, but I don't see it happening. :whistle2:(

I think this is the 3rd time this guide has shown up pennied out on the BB website since it originally dropped in Jan 07.

LOL Cmon now, I don't have Madden and The Matrix Online in MASS quantities and the copies I do have of each have languished on my TL, since everyone wants RPG guides and leaves the rest for me to use as toilet paper. Not even the noobs on here want my MK Shaolin Monks guides or any of the hundreds of other quality guides I got. :D Bastards!!!

Thanks to all who have dealt with me though, though it seems like the only time people CML, its when I say I'm gonna trash the guides in 2 weeks. And being the procrastinator I am, I never do.

Oh and as far as the Godfather guide goes, there have been at least 2-3 versions that I've seen, much like the Liberty City Stories(PSP only, then PSP/PS2 version) and Vice City Stories(same deal) guides. So, maybe this is just the newest version to penny, since I know the PS2/Xbox version pennied and I think they had a PS2/Xbox/PC version, with the 360/PSP version being the MOST RECENT and that is probably what JUST pennied. Please correct me if I'm wrong though. Although, the 360/PSP version is the one still on the shelves @ Gamestop too....

If anything, I would expect yet another new version with the Wii and PS3 versions of The Godfather to be included in it.
