I guess there may really have been 2 versions of the Shivering Isles guide, since the guide is STILL listed @ full price on the site.
it has been confirmed a few times that the one with a sticker is one cent. The one without sticker is full price
Whoa, dude...I usually just buy a $5 game to pad my penny guide purchases.
LoL...I actually needed a new computer, and my girlfriend told me to get a Mac. So, I told her I could get a really good PC desktop and laptop for the running price of your average Mac (about $1500)...and I did.

Then I realized I'd be paying almost $300 a month if I wanted to pay it off in six months to get rid of the balance during the no-interest term, and didn't really need the laptop, so it went back.

I actually bought the guides on a seperate purchase while the sales rep was getting my stuff from the warehouse (since the PC bundle included a kickass tower, 19" monitor, and printer for about $800)

Went in BB to pick up my Halo 3 preorders and grabbed a Gow 2 LE guide. Actually got lucky because they were pulling the guides and it was already in the basket. I just asked if they had a copy and he pulled it out for me.
He had the Nintendo SPM guide in the cart too, but i checked it and it was $15 still - must have confused it for the Prima.

I also think i saw a CAG walking out of the KoP BB while i was walking in. Think i saw the GoW 2 LE guide in his bag. Id say it was shrike if he lived near me - old guy =]

I went back on the tip regarding the limited edition gears of war guides, and I can confirm they are a penny now, as I grabbed 6. I gave one to a friend, and I'm keeping one, so I'm down to 4 already.

Though, I would've liked the GoW2 LE guide.

See, I looked at Best Buy computers and none of them can even come close to the specs I got on this factory built deal. A gig of memory, a 2.4 gb processor and a nice 19" LCD monitor, all for about $476 or so. Mind you, it's a Dell and many don't deem them 'quality' from what I understand, but for what I use it for, it's served me well.

I picked up the last Gears of War LE at the Northcrest BB in Fort Wayne, IN. I need to be more careful on which cashiers I go to. The last two times these two different chicks have called the media dept. I guess it's because they are new.

hehe, its gotten to the point where when I was paying for my guides today I got a "I remember you" from the cashier, and the staff and I actually chat now quite a bit when there's no line. Cute girls too, for what its worth.

Its just too bad I don't have the slightest chance with any of them.

Well, I finally got a penny guide back out of my one local BB again, but boy was it an old one:

Sonic & The Secret Rings(which pennied back in MAY)

I also checked the following:

New Super Mario Bros.-Still coming up $14.99
Final Fantasy XII-Still coming up $19.99
You & Wii-Dropped to $4.99 now

Maybe the Y&W guide is a sign of things to come? Drop the guides incrementally until they sell. Although, you would think they would do that with the rest of them too.

Sadly, no sign of ANY GoW LE or GOW II LE guides or Shivering Isles(either version, the stickered or not) or Super Paper Mario Prima edition.

Oh and I just noticed that the Gamecube Version Twilight Princess guide is MIA from the site too. Another possibility?
Oh and I just noticed that the Gamecube Version Twilight Princess guide is MIA from the site too. Another possibility?
Although I didn't get it scanned, it was marked at $9.99. Not sure if it has been that price for a while or not. But I believe sometimes when they come off the site they are reduced to $9.99.

I got the last God of War Limited Edition and the last few Shadowrun guides at my Best Buy. I asked about them before I found them:

Me: "You have any penny strategy guides? I heard there might be a basket out with them."
Clueless Best Buy Employee: "Um, I think those are gone."
Me: "So you don't have anymore?"
Him: "Um, no we don't"
Me: So you know, or you think they are gone?"
Him: "Um, I know they are, I keyed (read: bought) them myself. "
Me: "So you sold them?"
Him: "Um, no. We threw them away. I know, I had an employee key (read: sell them to me) them for me."
Me: "So there's none left."
Him: "No, we never sell penny guides. We can't."

I wanted to find him and wave it in his face, but I couldn't find him. The GoW guide was hidden behind a bunch of Halo 3 guides. So sorry if I took yours :)

I felt like I was the only person not buying Halo 3 today. I checked the Shivering Isles guides, and they were full price. There were the Nintendo SPM guides on the shelf, but not the Prima ones :(

But yeah, if anyone wants to trade, let me know.

No GoW II LE or GoW LE guides (damn similar acronyms!)

Buuuut...all the penny guides I left yesterday were mysteriously pulled, including the non-stickered Shivering Isles guides.

Also...all Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions are gone, though the stickered price of $17.99 I think was still up. Hard to believe that many moved so quickly, perhaps they were pennied too?

I went to the BB I went to over the weekend I picked up the last copy of Super Paper Mario Prima and God of War II LE. Total spent $0.02 :)

I saw Lost Planet guides when I was there this weekend, didn't think they were pennied though.

Where's vaughn when ya need him? ;)

Uh...you're doing it wrong.

You're never, ever supposed to ask for "penny guides," since, technically, they aren't supposed to sell them. You just have to check the shelves, ask for them by title, and hope for the best.

Uh...what I meant was I scanned the shelf first and didn't see the more obvious guides listed, so I asked if there was a cart around after that. I didn't do a really good search until after I asked.

Picked up tonight:

- Codes and Cheats Fall 2006
- Super Paper Mario (Prima)
- GTA Vice City Stories (Brady)
- *** Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer (Brady)
- *** Spiderman 3 (Brady)
- *** Major League Baseball 2K7 (Brady)
- *** Lost Planet Extreme Condition (Brady)
- God of War II LE (Brady) - no sticker over this one; she scanned the barcode on the piece of paper inside the shrinkwrap.

25 cents. All had shelf tags saying "1c (cent)."

And, to confirm, the GC version of the Twighlight Princess guide rings up as $9.99.

*** Did a quick search within this thread and didn't see them mentioned as a BB drop.
I don't think F4:RotSS has been mentioned as a BB drop, just as GS/EB. Thanks for the heads up; looks like I'm heading back tomorrow!
I'll edit my post then. :D

Yeah, Lost Planet is def a penny, picked one up as well as the Fantastic 4 and a couple Gears LE guides. All on the shelf stickered for a penny.

Ya know, I knew there were some other guides missing from the guide section at my one local BB, but I wasn't sure WHICH ones. Now I know which ones were missing and WHY.

I REALLY need to get my one buddy convinced to go work for BB in this area, so I....errr...uhhh...I mean we have another inside source, since our usual source is MIA cause I woulda really wanted at least ONE of each LE guide, if not the rest of the ones that dropped. And no, that does not mean to PM me, telling me your price shipped for each.

Picked up two God of War II LE guides this evening.

Funny, I just traded for this this morning, before I found out it was pennied.

Oh well, both will be added to my CML.

When I got my LE Gears guides today, I noticed that the redular edition of it, as well as the regular edition of God of War 2 were still regular price. Did anyone else get that at their Best Buy?

Regular GoW2 guides dropped last month, but at some stores were restickered; the restickered, shrinkwrapped ones are ringing up full price.

Also, I found four Shivering Isles today. =D

Yeah, heh... 3 gigs ram, 400GB GB HDD, 5000+ AMD X2, 19" LCD, and an all-in-one printer.

I do a lot of video editing (when I can find some spare time!) ;)

Off to BB now to check on those other drops!

Well, looks like I have to run over to BB and see if I can score a LP guide, as I think they had one when I was in there last week picking up other penny guides. As they missed the last drops last week, maybe I'll get lucky again, as I do want an LP guide.

Dammit Dammit Dammit!! I went back to BB to grab the 4 or 5 God OF War II LE guides & the sneaky bastids pulled them!!!:bomb: I had my chance at them a day or two before but I did not know they were confirmed at .01 yet. I did however grab the GOW LE guides that were in that clearance cart I mentioned before. I also spotted a Lost Planet guide too but didn't know that was a penny either!!!:bomb: Vahn where are you man???

EDIT: I too will trade a Gears Of War LE for a God Of War II LE.

so it looks like I'll be looking for on Friday:
Lost Planet
Spider Man 3
Fantastic 4

And ways to remove the stickers off the regular God of War 2 and Gears of War guides...

If you mean AFTER you've purchased the guides, a little WD40 sprayed onto a towel works to rub off the residue and sticker completely.

Picked up:
GOW 2 LE
Gears of War LE
Lost Planet

Price checked but still full price:
Zelda Twlight Princess Premiere Edition(GC)($9.99)
GOW 2 Regular($16.99)
New Super Mario Bros($14.99)
You and Wii($4.99)

Also anyone get a chance to price check Meet the Robinsons?

Something tells me he doesn't mean after he buys them. ;)

Ok here's what i don't get....first off i had no hopes of getting any penny guides....haven't gotten more than a few in 6 or 7 months...went to the closest BB and completely wiped clean except for a Shimmering Isles that didn't seem to be stickered and was non-shrinkwrapped, took it to the cashier, 19.99 or some crap....then i drive to a BB about 30 miles away and found the motherload...all were priced on the shelf at 1 penny, there were a few Shimmering Isles...they were a penny there but not at the last BB, what's up with that?

btw, i've got a couple God of War 2 LE that i'd be willing to trade for Gears of War LE!

1) Shivering.

2) If you read the thread, you'd see that the Shivering Isles guides with a sticker are the only ones that are a cent.
