Reduced Price Game Guides: Thread Seven and a Half.

picked up MUA and TF at BB in Wilmington. Anyone know if the Gears of War that covers the pc game is that penny one? They had a few of those and I need one. It looks really new and has "covers pc game" on it.

I am guessing the jump in price with RE Archives is due to Umbrella Chronicles. Hopefully the price will go back down.

Anything happening tomorrow? I doubt it (hoping for next Monday, since it's the first of the month), but it doesn't hurt to check.
 
I'll be surprised if we see anything until the end of January. It will be close to the end of the fiscal year for a lot of companies and things like this happen when they're finalizing their numbers.

You never know honestly, since we've even had drops when none were expected, so it could happen. Best thing to do is, if you're up early for work or whatever, just check BB's site for guides listed at .01.

One that SHOULD drop prior to the new year is the original(non LE) version of God Of War II, if it hasn't already, since it's only natural that the regular versions of guides penny after the LE ones do.

Of course, that's not always a given, as with the Nintendogs, Animal Crossing: Wild World and New Super Mario Bros. guides.
 
There are new guides being shipped out still this month so I really wouldn't be surprised if there were some drops at Best Buy. GS & GC & TRU not so much :whistle2:D

man, u've always rocked this thread with you wisdom and knowledge....kudos bro...to one or two recent posters i say this....why not post WHEN you find a guide has dropped in price vs is there any price drops...cuz it gets old checking this thread and there's no new drops.

AMEN AMEN AMEN to that. Every Sunday/Monday, someone invariably asks "anything drop this week?" I ALWAYS say to myself, "well, apparently not since nobody has posted anything".

So, to keep the same people from asking the SAME question each week, if there are new drops, it WILL be posted. You don't have to ask.

I know, I have 3 copies now as it stands, but I'm keeping one for collection purposes right off the bat. I just figured it would be a guide many would want and just kinda wondered when the restickered version would drop. I know we had a bit of a hassle when someone first mentioned that removing the shrinkwrap and new UPC drops it to .01, but that is a tactic I don't think anyone should participate in or condone.

Glad I could help, but I just wish the link would be added to the first page, which would definitely let people find out about possible new drops alot faster than skimming through even the last 2-3 pages of the 30 pages we have in this thread now. Well, it's thirty pages if you have the forums set up to show 50 posts per page anyway.

Ya know, I was going to ask the same thing Lox because all of my local BB stores had the new version WOW Atlas disappear within a couple months of being put out. Just like the Morrowind guides which never seemed to drop, I have no clue about the newest version of the WOW Atlas, but I'm sure someone out there has info on it.
 
Well if its any help to the rest of you, one of my two jobs currently is at TRU - so when the guides drop I'll be one of the first to know now. As soon as they drop, I'll post them.
 
went to Toys R Us today and the Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness guide surprising rung up $3.48. which I found odd. I was wondering is it the Prima or Nintendo Power Pokemon Mystery Dungeon that's pennied at TRU? also I added the pokemon pokedex to the last BB Drop.
 
Dropped by BB today and found GOW II for a penny. I'm not quite sure if that was there last time I checked guides. I hadn't had that happen before.

I asked the same to no avail. I had both price checked and they were the same normal, original price.
Was also wondering this about Gamestop as well.
While I'm at it, at two different Gamestops they have the Pokemon Emerald guide, the Prima version, are those pennied??

especially since all he does is grab as many as he can and ebay them. While I could give 2 shits about the dollar or two he makes after fees and shipping, it's annoying as fuck to know that noone else in the area can get in on the deal cause he can't be bothered to give back to the community that let's him know about the penny guides to begin with... but I digress.

There probably won't be any drops til January. Same as last year.

I stopped in at an out-of-town BB today and found a bunch of guides from the last drop:

Virtua Fighter 5 x2
Final Fantasy II x4
Final Fantasy III
Pokemon Battle Revolution (Prima) x2
Shadowrun
Zelda: TP GC (Prima)

The had an absolute ton of the Zelda TP LE guides, too (at least 10). I'm hoping they drop soon.
 
ozzymandd that is a reprinted Limited Edition guide. It is slightly different than the original release and just came out like 2 weeks ago. Those probably will never penny out and if they do it won't happen for quite a while.

I stopped by BB to pick up MLB Power Pros which they were sold out on, but I did get two copies of the Pokemon pocket Pokedex and a MLB 2k7 for collection, and a few others for tradin'/sellin' :)

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not picking up the Minish Cap guides I saw at the Carousel Mall in Syracuse @ CC about a year ago. They were only about $1-3 each and the resale on them would've been huge. But, knowing my luck, I wouldn't sell a one over the price that I paid.

And Warner, I've definitely learned from my past mistakes, maybe the poster you're complaining about would get stuck with tons of guides they can't sell and figure out it's not worth the time, space and hassle of having a shitload of these things.

I goofed a few weeks ago and left some Minish guides sitting at a local Target for around $10. "They'll still be here next week." NOT!

Either inside info or just getting price checks on old stuff when you're in a store and hoping to get lucky; then telling everyone what a find you made and where to get it. We help each other out on here. ;)
 
What's strange about the Minish Cap guide I saw was that I saw it at a Target that opened well after the game was released and became a rare find in the wild.

That's like how I recently found a Mario Kart 64 guide at a Best Buy that's been open for maybe 2 years. WTF?

That reminds me of the Maximo guides I found in a Best Buy down in Philly area on a trip to Atlantic City. The game and guide probably came out in 2001 or 2002, yet these guides were there as recent as 2 years ago and STILL FULL PRICE. Yet, last year on another trip, I checked again and someone must've finally pulled them.

I wonder if they ever pennied @ BB or if they were another fluke like Nintendogs, NSMB or Animal Crossing: Wild World that just never dropped.
 
At a BB that are guide nazis and i pretty much never find any i found 3 or 4 Gears of War behind the new windows version of Gears of War.....woooooowhoooo!
