The Reduced Price Guide FAQ/OP has been moved to the SECOND post.

dammit ... just order what you need! I missed this by a minute and have free shipping ....

It was .01 plus free shipping. Unless you plan on offering them for the same price, I don't see how this way was easier for fellow CAGs.
 
Well it allows me the ability to trade copies for other things as well. Why am I getting blasted about this especially when you ordered 4 for yourself. There is always the possibility they won't ship or whatever. How is this any different than ShadowSx ordering 50 copies of Fable 3 CE guide. He did it to help other people and himself. I stopped after 15 to share with everyone.

And actually 5 copies are for myself and 4 friends so maybe I will have 10 extra to share.
 
When I first found the fable guides, I was almost positive they were not going to actually ship them, being that they were 1 cent and free shipping, and listed under some "Exclusive Offers" category and not under the guides category. I figured if I order one and they actually DO go through, i'll feel bad that I didn't get more, so I got all of them until they went out of stock, if I didn't get them, oh well, I can't argue over free stuff.

They take up way to much space in my house and I don't understand how people can actually hoard this kind of stuff.
 
I agree with you Shadow, I don't want to horde, don't know if they will ship either. but if they do I could at least trade them off for guides I actually want.

You can send some my way! How do you find stuff so fast? I noticed you were quick on the Deathsmiles on amazon as well. Is there some type of tracker or something you use?

No, I found the guides when someone tipped that bestbuy had penny guides on the site in the normal category but out of stock, and the other guides that got pennied were not listed on the site, so I figured they might be hidden somewhere so with a few things I found the pages.

And for deathsmiles, I think I found it when I was checking the status on my Catherine CE for $20 something.
 
I can see why folks would want to horde the Fable 3 CE guide at least. Four different covers based off of the in-game posters. I ordered one of them from gohastings in hopes it'd be the "A New Hero Reigns" book, but ended up getting the plain "Reaver is Industry." Doesn't hurt that they have a DLC for a tattoo either.

Ah, and was able to pick up a D12 guide. Thanks for the heads up folks.

Ding ding ding. This right here is the correct answer.

I hold onto all LE/CE/SE guides anymore till I'm fairly certain(in a year or two) that they won't be worth squat, then I offer them to friends and family first and then to people who are willing to pay my REAL shipping costs plus maybe $5 for the book. It's still cheaper than paying MSRP and they still get something they want.

In guide score related news though, I finally grabbed 4 guides today from the furthest BB from me that normally cockblocks me on them. I snagged Halo Reach(softcover), 2x Red Dead Redemption and a Duke Nukem Forever CE.

They also had a good mish mash of the rest of the ones that dropped, but I was going off of memory and as such I didn't remember many besides RDR, HR n DNF CE. Plus like I said I usually get completely blocked there(cashier up front almost called a manager over), so I didn't wanna press my luck with more than a handful.

If they were still up on the website, I'd probably do a store pickup order n grab the rest that way.;) But I'm still happy with my mini haul.

Anyone in the Tri-State area(namely northern NJ) who wants to try for some of the guides remaining at this store(assuming they didn't pull the rest once I left) lemme know via PM and I'll tell you the location of the store.;)

Define 'a few things' please. I kinda hope I could find pages for some of the titles I saw earlier today in the one further off store from me, so I could try and do in-store pickup.;) I'd gladly take a run back there for the $.45 worth of guides I saw there if I knew I could snag em all. At least then I'd have something semi current on my TL to try and grab newer drops with from other CAG's.

If you don't wanna mention how/where you found the pages for em in the thread then just PM me please, as I would like to know where you found em.;)

Yes, I said it is an updated list of Best Buy's guides for post #3. The post said it is up to date to "6.22.11" and at the time that I did this, it did not have some of the more recent drops on there. Although since then, I see that you have added them and that it was last edited yesterday. Anyway, I added all of the newer drops, alphabetized them, and deleted some doubles (Enemy Territory: Quake Wars just for example) and corrected some punctuation and spacing to help anyone trying to quickly find a specific wording on the page. I am sorry your monitor settings do not allow you to see blue, and I am sorry I clicked the wrong color I suppose. Changed it to royal blue this time. I am just trying to contribute and help out.

Thanks for trying at least.;) Usually when I edit in the new additions, I was just cut/pasting from a compiled list that someone on the thread would make. If they failed to capitalize the middle word of a three word game title, then it got left as such(recent drop @ BB is an example of this, where I left Red dead Redemption or something similar in the second and other posts).

Since I'm on Google Chrome nowadays it's a pita to edit the relevant posts more than they really need to be. But if I fire up IE(or AOL's browser since I still have that monstrosity on my PC) this weekend sometime I'll consider adding in the edited list.:razz:

But most of the regs who frequent this thread tend to know what guides the improperly capitalized/spelled guide names on each list tend to be for.;) But thanks nonetheless.:)

EDIT: Some of your 'changes' are decent(consolidating at least the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars into one listing), while others (spelling out F.E.A.R. 3 as such when Fear 2 was ALSO spelled the same way on the cover AND had a subtitle to it and putting it far above everything else alphabetically in the F's, putting Uncharted 2 BEFORE Uncharted 1 because you're going alphabetically by the secondary portion of the title) make no sense to me.

Not to mention there were two wholly seperate versions of the GTA Chinatown Wars guide, just as I believe there were two seperate Enemy Territory Quake Wars guides. However I will consolidate the GTA ones(and I removed the second ETQW) just to save a line on the wiki post and I did remove the duplicate NFL Head Coach 09.;)

Although in the next iteration of this thread(coming soon I think so we can have a fresh start for the new year) I'm just gonna take the time and consolidate the SKU and Wiki post into one big ol post rather than having 4-6 seperate initial posts for the thread.

Unfortunately, there's not much difference these days between SD and CAG. The in-store hoarders use the excuse that after they buy one, the rest will be pulled so they might as well "save" the remainder for others. They don't know what's going to happen, but sometimes they're right. Here, however, there's no excuse. 4 or 15 of those guides would easily have gone to 4 or 15 different CAGs.

This is one time when you can root for BB to cancel orders. "He ordered 15 of the same guide for us to ship for free? Yeah, I don't think so."
 
Look like they worked around free shippping for 1 cent game guides. Only game guide left for 1cent online is Super Scribblenauts - when you add it to your cart, the shipping option disappears so you can only check local store availability - which is essentially out of stock for all stores (at least here in CT and RI).
 
Caught a lucky break at Best Buy today while I was out of town. Found all of these at one single store

This was available for store pickup as recently as this afternoon at Olathe KS, but I left it in hopes that another cag would get it (I would've just gotten it for the fun artwork to show the young'ns anyways). Hope someone that doesn't suck snagged one!

Found a LoZ: Spirit Tracks guide at Gamestop & 2 Duke Nukem Forever Limited Edition Guides at Best Buy. Funny thing is they still had about 8 regular DNF guides.

They had a stack of the regular DNF guides at the BB I was at yesterday as well. I still find it funny that even with Gamefaqs and other cheat/guide sites out there that they not only still produce these things, but that the prices on them have shot up over the last couple of gens even.:roll:

Do you think $9 shipped is reasonable? Costs about $5 for shipping + DC, and after paypal takes its cut that leaves a buck or two for me, which is less then what it costs in gas to go to the post office anyways. I'm not trying to make a profit but I don't want to lose money on these.

FYI: You can search for all pennied items on BB's site by entering the & sign in the search bar.;) It used to work with the % sign but it no longer does, at least on Google Chrome anyway.

Unfortunately it'll bring up all of those 'free with activation of a new plan' cell phones first as $.00 items, but you can easily weed those out by selecting different departments.

I thought the key to Fable III CE guide was that it wasn't listed/linked anywhere and you had to go directly to it.
 
Yes, the pennied guides are listed under an "Exclusive offers" category and can't be found on the site. So far only the L.A Noire guides and the fable guides were found.

Yeah. I think the guides are as Shadow said. They're under some other heading or something and unable to be found by using that trick.

But this trick will bring up anything else that's pennied or really cheap under any other departments.

For example, there's a bunch of $4 DVD's available on the site and the prices should be the same in-store as well. So if ya wanna grab some movies for cheap stocking stuffers, there ya go.;)
