[quote name='Apossum']and my point is that I don't care about people's manifestos about their systems...the industry is growing because of the "assholes" who push for a stronger game system every gen, which will help companies make more games that more particular gamers like. Capcom and Namco are great examples of this at work.

It's funny you bring this up, because you're throwing in a hypothetic that's predicated on
maybe 10 years of honest, real-world proof, against the entire length of this industry, which could theoretically be said to be 40+ years by this point.
Granted, these last ten years do more to prove the point you're trying to make than hurt it. Obviously we can uphold it - Halo couldn't be done on an Atari any better than it could have been done on the NES, to say nothing of the SNES and N64. It required the power to give that seamless of an experience.
To a point. That much I can agree with. Because I remember when I opened my Dreamcast on my birthday (9/9, baby - the holy mark of all that is good) and popped in Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure and thought - almost
immediately - "Wow, there is no way this could have been done on previous systems."
However.
Your argument is that this is the only way to progress this industry and lead to better experiences, and that's something I don't agree with for a lot of reasons, which are really better explained below.
Anyway, I can understand the frustration about people who come into the Wii forum just to bash the wii, but it's just lame to take the whole industry down in a rant against those people. I dunno, I guess the whole point was personal attacks on forum members with less discerning taste, so maybe this all irrelevant.
Let me ask you a question. If we agree to all the above about how "more power = progression," and then I retort with "well I could be happier with less" and you repond with "yeah, but then
you'd be holding back progression".....
Well, why can I not
also ask you how people like
me feel about having to be drug along with this endless, tireless, almost
mindless, re-

ing-lentless effort to add more power to more power to more power?
In other words, why is it that you think I have no reason to suggest "Hey, why are we bitching about jaggies since it's
bullshit" when people are crying about it? Or when they whine about how "OMFG, THE RESOLUTION IS TOTALLY 12 PIXELS TOO SMALL." Or "I ONLY COUNT 58,994 COLORS IN THIS GAME!" Or "WHERE'S THE ALPHAMATRIXBLENDING? I SEE NONE OF IT." Because when I hear all of this, I just want to punch puppies, because it sounds so goddamn SELFISH. It's like the girl on MTV who gets the "wrong" car at her 16th birthday and throws a fit. SHUT THE

UP ALREADY. YOU GOT A CAR. JUST LIKE HALO 3 ACTUALLY LOOKS GOOD, AND I COULD NOT
BELIEVE PEOPLE ACTUALLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THE GRAPHICS.
Do you understand the irony there? In fact, do you understand the
hypocrisy? Because you can't sit there and decry about how people like me would halt the entirety of the industry when 1) it's not happening and 2) it doesn't matter anyway, because I'm being swept up in the

ing tidal wave and being drug along with all the other 12 year olds that still think teabagging a dude in 720p is
the most badass thing ever.
I'm not holding
shit back. I'm being
forced along with it. And beyond that, I have NO WAY of holding anything back! Understand?
Don't sit there and complain about how I
could damage your industry with my luddite ways when it has no goddamn chance of happening, especially when I've already got to deal with the loads of asinine bullshit of developers and game manufacturers constantly shoving photorealism and 7 channel sound mixing down my

ing throat, as if those were valid things I suddenly NEED to have in order to enjoy video gaming as a hobby. Because I don't need them, and that makes it hard for ME to understand why everyone else NEEDS them (note: the word is need, not want, which is why I can leave the door open to people WANTING them, thereby justifying their experience in my luddite world). And on top of all of that, people like me are the ones that have to deal with higher game prices because powerful HD systems are
requiring developers to pump out HD graphics.
So while at some point people could create lo-fi games that emphasized
gameplay, now we've got people spending big budgets on making Master Chief's helmet
that much shinier. Or hiring big name voice actors to voice act "Grunt #3 who died in the hangar." Or having to resort to buying reviews, censoring bad reviews, coughing up huge advertising budgets, trying to translate games into MOVIES, etc etc etc.
So before you sit there and criticize people like me who are happier with "less" in your mind (which is a HUGELY subjective comment, by the way), remember that we're being taken with the current against our will, and we have to cough up the cash for something that was overproduced with a lot of bells and whistles.
Which might make someone like me a little bitter about it, don't you think?
And while we're at it, while you tell me my tastes could lead to a video game crash, I can just as easily turn that argument onto you. Because with more power = higher budgets = more development time = higher advertisement pushes in order to recoup those losses and make profit = and endless, vicious cycle of constantly increasing the dollar bar that has to be overcome by developers, which in turn gets passed off to consumers, who may or may not be happy with that, and might not buy the game.
In other words, "bigger and better" might doom the industry
just as much as turning back the dial on technology. But since these are both hypothetical situations, I doubt we'll ever prove one or the other.
Summary: As I said before, if you people aren't happy with
two goddamn systems for your own enjoyment AND you have no respect for people who are happier with a less powerful system, and you predicate it almost SOLELY on some nonsense "you'd destroy the industry if everyone were like you" argument, then YOU need to do some goddamn homework and listen the

up about how 99.9% of this ENTIRE INDUSTRY IS BEING DESIGNED
SPECIFICALLY FOR YOU, and Nintendo telling you to piss off because they want to try some new shit is NOT a valid reason to come in here and be a dick. And no matter HOW MUCH you try to twist it around, it's not.
Don't like the system? Don't get it. Let me enjoy kicking MarioColbert's ass in Smash Bros, and you go play big tough manly games on two whole

ing systems RIFE with those kinds of titles. I can grant you that much respect, so I don't understand why you can't return the favor.
btw, with your use of "you" I can't tell if you're referring to a "generalized you" or me
It's generalized. But I'm honest and I'll say I can understand how you think I'm aiming this directly at you. And the reason why that is is because you're kind of in a diplomatic ambassador role here, since I know you tend to skew on one of the other two consoles. So when I fire back at that generalized audience, you're inevitably grouped in as well.
But you're not as big of a mindless jerk when you're around here (though you are full of cheap shots, which I tend to read in the same manner I'd read something from MarioColbert), so part of my retort isn't wholly warranted directly at you, since I don't see you dropping illogical bullshit all over the Wii forum.
At least, not on a registrable scale.
